Bad Hair Day

So I woke up to pretty cool hair. Kinda full on top, shaggy bangs that looked a bit rocker, it was relatively straight. My stylist told me I was my hair too often, so decided to shower with putting my hair atop my head and keep it dry. A few touches of the straightening iron and I should be good to go.

So I started seam ripping a pair of my jeans this week. My beloved jeans I have had for eons have worn a hole a little too close to the crotch. Sort of on the inner thigh. A patch there would be uncool looking - it would just reinforce the fact that my thighs rub together so much I bore a hole through denim. So I thought if I made my jeans into a skirt, the hole then would be in a different location and could be patched or stitched up and it would look cool.

So the jeans were split open, I just needed another pair of jeans to put in the triangle-shaped spaces left in the front and the back of the future skirt. I knew I had a pair of jeans up in the attic that had a cool wash, but a bad fit. I could cut those up for the remainder of the skirt.

So after admiring my hair, I climb up into the attic. The pull-down stairs are in my bedroom, so I just slid over the bureau and scampered up wearing nothing but my hubby's headlamp for nighttime mountain bike rides (aah what a visual). Well I dug through many bags of last-season and non-my-size-now and may-be-fashionable-in-two-years clothing for these jeans. It was hot and stuffy in there. Very hot. I found several pairs of discarded jeans, but not the pair I was looking for. The bedroom floor was covered with denim (remember dirty denim? Can you believe I had a skirt, capris, a jacket and two pairs of full length jeans all in dirty denim?? Oh and then the Rocker jeans with the fake graffiti! I succumbed to that look too with two pairs and a jacket!).

So I cleaned up my mess, put the furniture back and went to take a shower, pulling up the hair to not have it get wet. The husband had taken a shower before me so the bathroom was steamy. I showered with dry hair. I got out, dried myself and let down my hair.

Ew. Ew. Ew. My hair looks like I ran a marathon and then let it air dry. It is greasy from the scalp and down about an inch. Dents from the ponytail elastic. My hair has been recently cut but I looked like a pile of split ends. And I have no time to wash my hair.

So I hit the baby powder and the straightening iron, finally gave up and pulled it back up in an elasic. i hate wearing my hair like that, I feel too old for it - I used to wear my hair like that in college and when I worked retail. I would have like 4 pens sticking out of the mound of hair on the top of my head - like chopsticks with lids. Now I have good hair and a good cut and ponytails at my job seems.... inappropriate.

And now I have moaned over my hair and am running late. Today is long length pants and closed toe shoes day. I decide to wear my pink v-neck tissue weight merino from J. Crew with my favorite pants - I got these for $22.99 at Ann Taylor and when I bought them I thought I would have to buy a whole new shoe collection and wardrobe to match them. They are a dark chocolate brown, a stretchy twill (but not the type that picks up lint). They have fine pinstripes. A tonal brown, cherry red, pink and a tan/camel color. The cut is flattering, the leg has that perfect amount of flare at the bottom. They make my ass look good. I now realize that every color of pink works with them. Red looks good. Taupe or tan or camel or beige looks nice. The color compliments denim (and you know how much I love to wear my AT denim blazer!). As for shoes, I have tan sandals, I have these cute copper sparkly slides with tan heels. I have brown beaded thongs. I even have dark red pointy toed heels that look cute int he winter with these pants. So I chose the tan sandals.

Typical makeup, typical silver jewelery. Atypical greasy, limp and bent up hair. So maybe a 7 sort of day. At least I am wearing a fabulous color to compensate for uggy hair.
