When we have holidays or Fridays before holidays, our boss lets us leave early. Sometimes he buys the team lunch and calls the day Fun Day Friday (or Monday, or Tuesday...). On these Fun Days we often dress more casually than casual Fridays. You know me, I feel weird in sneakers and don't own a ton of casual wear. This is my version of casual:
Brown ribbed tank from Old Navy. Amber colored shetland cardigan from a thrift store. Multiple necklaces - glass and wood from a beach boutique and from Claire's. Dark lightweight jeans from The Gap outlet. Black boots from Enzo.
On the face - Bare Escentuals foundation and concealer (those who question this product and the cost - I just wanted to let you know an entire foundation has lasted me all year. I just bought a replacement yesterday at Sephora. I did use MAC for summer, but one tub of Bare Escentuals lasted for nice months of daily and sometimes twice-daily use). I used the warm shimmer cubes from the Body Shop, the lightest over the whole lid, the darkest in the crease and around the lash line. Mascara. Lots of Almay bronzer. Sally Hansen gloss in Champagne Toast.
And the hair? Not a good hair day. Thought I would go straight, but after drying my hair it looked as though it wanted to be beachy waves. I encouraged it with the VO5 mousse and some Marc Anthony Strictly Curls gel/lotion. Yeah, it looked rough. Limp waves, sort of raggedy. I took a curling iron to the worst offenders and it helped some, but I look a bit... messy. Hey, it's casual Friday, right?

To make my sometimes straight, sometimes waxy hair beach wavy, I use a combo of 3 shots curl spray (I like Garnier Shake Effect, cheap but good) and pea sized dab Gloss Creme (Frederick Fekkai). Makes gorgeous waves in my hair, whether damp or dry.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good fun day!
OH, and about Bare Ecsentuals, I totally agree. Well worth the money. I love Mineral Veil, and the foundation. My skin has never looked so good or felt so smooth. I get deals on Ebay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jill, I will ahve to check that out! I used Garnier's Shake Effect a lot this past summer and liked it - may have to pick up another!
