So I Overpacked....

But what's the harm in that? I have to bring the pullman, might as well fill it to the hilt.

Day of Work/Flight There - pink sweater and black pants and mules.
Dinner Attire - ivory and black zebra print skirt to wear with same pink sweater, black pumps
Meeting Attire - Black suiting trousers, same black pumps, lilac scoop silk sweater shell, light apple green blazer, black laptop bag/tote
Toursit Attire - orange tissue weight cotton sweater, dark jeans, flops.
Flight Home - Olive jersey zip pullover and matching yoga pants, orchid wifebeater, black flops.

So the flight there was delayed. We didn't get to California until after 9pm. We raced to the hotel to meet our client, who was already at the hotel bar, and already three sheets to the wind. I had time to check in, brush my hair and teeth and head out for dinner - same grungy flight outfit.

All the restaurants on Cannery Row were closed by time we arrived. We ended up eating at some pub - mediocre food and mediocre wine.

The next day - wore the outfit I described. Spent a good deal of time doing my hair to have it destroyed in the nice breeze/wind.

The outfit was nice though. Good color, comfortable, easy to remove the jacket and not look like a hoochie.

Then the meeting and business lunch was over and I had a late hotel checkout, so I ran to the hotel to check out and to change. the suit was ultra comfy, but the shoes were corporate and stifling.

I changed into my jeans and orange sweater. The bossman and I traipsed around Monterey for a few hours.

We enjoyed some of the wine stores, having wine tastings. Came home with a bottle of Cabernet!

Started getting a little punchy on lack of sleep. Can you tell?

Needed a little more liquor in my blood to sleep on the flight home. It worked pretty well.

This pictures made me realize I am in desperate desperate need of a hair cut - you know your hair is overgrown when your side parted hair with bangs parts int he middle a la Marcia Brady. Not hot.

So I wore the same darn outfit on the plane home. Didn't consider that I wouldn't have a place to change, nor the time to change either. Didn't matter, I was so incredibly wiped out, I could have been in a vinyl and studs outfit and would have been cozy.

I did learn that my lovely orange sweater doesn't hold up well when packed, and slubbed around. Notice how the sleeve is all mishapen. Yeah, the whole sweater looked that way. Resembled an expensive fine gauge cotton trash bag. Plan to block the sweater after the next washing and if it doesn't get back in shape, may become a bum around sweater instead of a casual nice sweater. Oh well.

Glad to be home! Monterey was gaw-geous but I did miss the East Coast. After sleeping off my red-eye jet lag, I am feeling good and glad to be home!

I Hate Theme Days

So today is a theme day. The department has always had Hawaiian Shirt Fridays. I have never participated - I do not own anything that even resembles a Hawaiian shirt, nor do most women in America. Paying homage to the casual Friday, I wear jeans.

With the start of the hockey and football seasons, the team decided to change Hawaiian Shirt Day to Jersey Day. Again, I do not own this in my wardrobe. Even if I did, I would not wear it to work - only games.

One of the other females in the office suggested we have a theme day that is not gender specific. After some hoots and hollers about Catholic School Uniform Day and Nurse Day, we thought of Funny Shirt Day. We can wear a humorous tee shirt. We would dress it up with a jacket over it or a shirt underneath.

I only own one "funny shirt":

I got it from one of my favorite work distractions. Love it, it's funny, it's snarky, it's orange.

It requires a great ensemble to go with it. One cannot proclaim that one hates another's outfit if one is wearing a stupid outfit.

I try it with a denim blazer and my zebra skirt, some funky pointy magenta heels, smoky eye, disheveled hair. I think I look fun. the Husband says I look like Alice Cooper at a tag sale.

I try it with my black leather skirt, a thin white long sleeved tee underneath, a few silver chains around the neck, black ankle boots. I think I look like hipster grunge rock star. The Husband asks if I have been smoking anything - I look like I dressed after a pint of tequila. He asks why I don't make it more... simple.

Simple? But I am snarking! I need to look fashionista! I need to look fierce!

"But honey, you work for a computer company that is a government subcontractor. Lipgloss is fierce in that environment."

True. But I just feel... false if I wear that shirt with a boring ensemble.

I ended up in a pair of jeans from The Gap that had a vintage wash. Very very long. My tan snakeshin pointy heels, a tan motocross inspired canvas jacket with brown stitching, gold hoops and a gold bangle. the smoky eye was muted with a Q-tip.

I didn't feel fabu, but people told me I looked fabu.

This weekend's project: find a non-fashion mentioning funny shirt.

Leaving on a Jet Plane....

Important for travel:
1. Comfort. I will be on a plane for a very long time. I want things that stretch, don't itch, bind or look bad when I rise from sitting for 50,000 hours.
2. Appearance. I think those who wear lacrosse shorts and their husband's tee to the airport are terrible. As you see, confort is number one with me, but it is possible to look tasteful and elegant while being comfortable.
3. Shoes that are easy to remove for the metal detectors.
4. Ditto for jewelery
5. Hair and makeup styled so that they don't look nasty after falling asleep sitting up, sweating and freezing and getting dehydrated.
6. Versatility. One may have to go straight from the airport to a business dinner. today I have to go from work straight to the airport. Sometimes it's freezing on a plane, sometimes hot. Often going from my climate to one that is colder or hotter.

So what I am wearing:
Candy pink fine gauge cotton scoop neck sweater. Holds it shape through the day, got it at Nordstrom a year ago. Adore it.

With it I am wearing the weird black pants from the Gap that collect a lot of lint, but I washed them alone with fabric softner and doused them with Static Guard and now they are fabu. Super stretchy, but a heavy stretch that keeps it shape and does not crease. Nice bootcut leg and flat front - very flattering.

Black heeled slides - very simple, easy to remove, professional yet fun.

Silver hoops and cuff.

Hair straightened, makeup is tinted moisturizer, powder, nude shadow, mascara and black liquid liner with a pink gloss.

I will only be in CA for about 24 hours, so I am takjng my small pullman and a black laptop toe as my purse and computer bag.

I am leaving in 2 hours so I better get off of here and get back to work!

The Past Sixteen Hours...

So I got home and took a quick nap.

Commando.

Then I went for sushi and possibly a bar with my husband and our good friend.

Same jeans from the day, white wifebeater and a black cotton knit shrug. Silver cuff, large silver hoops and a black leather multiple-strand cord holding up a silver hammered cirlcular pendant. Reapplied gloss and didn't mess with the makeup and hair.

We decided we wer tired and poor and bummy. We stopped by a liquor store to pick up the Bombay, some Grey Goose, diet tonic, and a silly drink I can't get enough of. We had limes at home left over from some yummy pad thai I made this week.

So we got home, The Husband played bartender, and we had a movie night. God Bless Net Flix. I swear in 2006 the only movie I have seen on the silver screen has been Sin City. In 2004, only Garden State, The Aviator and Kinsey (but the latter at the belated discount indie theater in town where the tickets were only $3 and the movie was at Blockbuster a week later).

So we had Mean Girls, Napoleon Dynamite and Crash. Saw Mean Girls, fell asleep halfway through Napoleon, and didn't even know Crash was played. Darn margaritas taking me under (or maybe it was the big metal Sapporos at the sushi bar?).

Sleep - well The Husband was home. We usually only sleep 1-2 nights a week at the same time in the same bed (darn work schedules) so you know that it was... commando. Drunk friend passed out downstairs on the couch.

This morning, I woke up and decided to do some homework for my stained glass class and threw on a pair of paint splattered Weekend Jeans from J. Crew, my olive zip hooded pullover from J. Crew, and an orchid colored wifebeater from Old Navy. Hair back in a clip, several hours of bliss on the back deck. It was cool, about 75 degrees, overcast. The Husband and his two buddies went mountain biking and left me to my devices and hobbies.

My dear friend called and invited me to brunch. Brushed out the hair, powdered my nose. Switched to a black fine jersey off the shoulder tunic that I found in a thrift store, slapped on some silver hoops and my silver cuff, and the jeans from the night before (no need to do the stretching dance if it's the second day - ladies know what I'm talking about!). My ponty snakeskin heels to add some pizazz and I was ready to go.

Brunch was yum, then I ran errands (ah the glamorous life of suburban wives - gas station, CVS, grocery store, Jiffy Lube and Tar-jay).

And now I am home, back in the paint splattered jeans and olive hoodie. Washing laundry, playing on the computer, contemplating whether to walk the dog for fear I may be caught in a downpour.

Interviews on Casual Friday

So today I am conducting three interviews - for an intern for me, a Jr. Coordinator for me, and a Programmer for my department.

It's casual Friday, and I don't feel like dressing up. I do want to look a bit polished for the interviews.

Hair is straightened, sideswept bangs. Did a very subtle smoky eye with a pale dusty mauve on the lids and a darker plum color around the lash line. Decided to wear my glasses instead of contacts - they are purple, a cool style from Gucci.

On the body is a pair of vintage Levi's that are perfectly worn, perfectly weathered, and perfectly slim without being hoochie. With it I am wearing a white wifebeater from Old Navy and an ice-green stretch twill blazer from Nordstrom. Silver hoops, silver cuff, and a modern abstract silver pin on my lapel made by my Great-Aunt. Shoes are tan thong heels - my staple all summer long.

not an exciting outfit, but a way to look summery, casual and still polished enough for interviews on Casual Friday!

Dinner With Mommy

Most Thursdays my mom and I go to dinner together. We meet at a little Greek diner in between her home and mine. We alway order the same thing - Chicken Souvlaki salads and iced tea. I give her my olives, she gives me her pepperoncinis. We catch up on one another's lives, discuss politics, world events and fashion. The dinner often ends with a fashion show at one of our homes of our new purchases. I tell her what length to hem her pants, she tells me the top I bought is too tight or perfect for my special occassion.

I got home and needed to remove my heels a-sap. Lined trousers as well. Dinner with Mommy is casual comfort.

I put on my favorite launge outfit from J. Crew:

I have this skirt in this color, and the matching pullover:

Hair got a quick comb through, a tad bit of powder on the noce and a re-application of my nude gloss on my lips. Black wedge flops from J./ Crew on my feet and I was ready to go!

Lunch Result...

I had the buffalo chicken salad, which is quite good at this place. no sauce spilled on my outfit.

The client was a bit brash, but not crude or dirty acting at all. Icky mustache and I caught him quickly checking out my rack, but he seemed like a nice guy.

the outfit was appropriate.

Client Lunch

So we are meeting with a new client/partner and I am asked to attend the lunch as that I will be going with the team to visit this client in Monterey, California next week. How darn excited am I about this? can you believe I have never been to California? Italy - yes. Norway - yes. France - yes. Bermuda - yes. California - no. Sadly no. Feared I wouldn't get the chance and then an earthquake would make it part of Hawaii - another place I have not visited.

Anyway, one of my coworkers told me this client rep is a dirty old man. Well respected with White house clearance and all that jazz, but a perv. Get a few martinis in him and he may be prone to resting his palm on my knee.

Eh, nothing I haven't experienced before in my previous jobs (and no, none were in the entertainment business). I had to plan my wardrobe carefully.

You see, I have a lot of curves. I have a very ample bosom, and an ample booty. A simple sweater and trousers one one woman looks a bit sexy on me. Can't help it, God gave me a lot. Today i want to look attractive, professional and a bit demure without losing my sense of style and personality.

Hair was sucessful with the non-wash but shower today. I even had my boss ask if I got a haircut, he liked it. Soft, body, curled under, sideswept bangs. Very nice.

Makeup is a bit different. I feel that the bronzer and the darker powder need to be packed away until Spring. I switched back to the lighter powder, and a dusting of Nars Orgasm on my cheeks for color. On the eyes, I did a brown shadow in the crease and with a slant brush, but the dark brown shadow along the lash lines. Gives that soft, girly doe-eyed look.

And the clothes. I have a fine-gauge cotton scoop neck sweater from caslon that I adore. I actually wasn't going to buy it but my friend Sandy told me I had to. It was $23.90 at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale and it made my face heart-shaped. Well gee, anything to make it not look donut shaped. I bought it and wear the thing to death! The scoop isn't deep, no cleavage showing unless you're looking from above (and that sort of cleavage is practically seen in a turtleneck!).

With the lovely sweater, I am wearing a pair of ivory wide leg trousers from Ann Taylor. They are part of a suit I love. The pants have a herringbone pattern, a wide leg, flat front. very flattering and not too tight on the arse.

Shoes are black leather pointy toed pumps with a 2" heel. nothing too wild, nothing too extreme, yet I don't look like a grandma.

They just called me to go, I put on a tinted lip balm and am ready to be hit on by a dirty old man! Will let you know how it goes!

Last Days of Summer

Okay, it may still be eighty degrees outside, but that doesn't mean we can saunter around in white linen and sundresses. There are a few summer pieces that can work well in transition from Summer to Fall.

I have a gorgeous skirt from Banana that I got at their outlet for a STEAL (boy, I say that a lot!). Well it's a lovely silk, calf length, floaty and flares out at the bottom. It is a paisley of turquoise, emerald green, brown, white and celadon. You may remember the collection - this print and similar versions came in pareos, clutches, halters and even bathing suits. Well I got the skirt. Wanted the clutch, but the print was with black instead of brown, and combining the two would be a no-no.

This skirt is floaty. As soon as I tried it on in the fitting room I wanted to go on a cruise or tropical vacation. I wanted to wear this skirt with a little tank and beaded thongs (on the feet! Hahahaha!), hand in hand with my husband as we walked the beach at sunset collecting shells and sea glass.

The colors are not overly summery, but since it's lightweight silk I know it's days in my current season closet are numbered. Magazines may show summer skirts with tall boots and turtlenecks, but this look bothers me immensely. It's as though your viewers are too stupid to realize that your floral chiffon sundress is not made to go with suede boots and a velvet blazer. Maybe Mary Kate and Ashley can pull off the Boho/Hobo look, but the majority of Suburban America needs to stick more to the rules of fashion.

Back to my outfit. So I am wearing the skirt, and I am wearing with a sleeveless v-neck silk sweater shell in the same turquoise as the skirt. I found the shell at Ann Taylor. Um yeah, it's the same shell that I wore on my Black and blue day, but a different color. I am famous for buying in bulk.

On the feet are my tan thong heels from Tar-jay. Silver cuff, silver hoops. Hair straightened but with body. I took my fabu straightener/curler and gave body and some wave to my hair. If it were shellacked it would look like a newscaster or The Rachel. With just a touch of pomade on the ends, I can almost feel the seabreeze in my hair (and no, I don't mean the astringent).

Tonight when I get home, the skirt will go to the bag for the cleaners for it's end of season cleaning, then head to the office closet (aka last season's wardrobe).

by the way, love the idea that this skirt is hanging off my waist, held up by my hips. May not fit next summer! If that is so, I can think of some faby crafts with this amazing fabric. Banana Republic pillow anyone?

Bad Hair Day

So I woke up to pretty cool hair. Kinda full on top, shaggy bangs that looked a bit rocker, it was relatively straight. My stylist told me I was my hair too often, so decided to shower with putting my hair atop my head and keep it dry. A few touches of the straightening iron and I should be good to go.

So I started seam ripping a pair of my jeans this week. My beloved jeans I have had for eons have worn a hole a little too close to the crotch. Sort of on the inner thigh. A patch there would be uncool looking - it would just reinforce the fact that my thighs rub together so much I bore a hole through denim. So I thought if I made my jeans into a skirt, the hole then would be in a different location and could be patched or stitched up and it would look cool.

So the jeans were split open, I just needed another pair of jeans to put in the triangle-shaped spaces left in the front and the back of the future skirt. I knew I had a pair of jeans up in the attic that had a cool wash, but a bad fit. I could cut those up for the remainder of the skirt.

So after admiring my hair, I climb up into the attic. The pull-down stairs are in my bedroom, so I just slid over the bureau and scampered up wearing nothing but my hubby's headlamp for nighttime mountain bike rides (aah what a visual). Well I dug through many bags of last-season and non-my-size-now and may-be-fashionable-in-two-years clothing for these jeans. It was hot and stuffy in there. Very hot. I found several pairs of discarded jeans, but not the pair I was looking for. The bedroom floor was covered with denim (remember dirty denim? Can you believe I had a skirt, capris, a jacket and two pairs of full length jeans all in dirty denim?? Oh and then the Rocker jeans with the fake graffiti! I succumbed to that look too with two pairs and a jacket!).

So I cleaned up my mess, put the furniture back and went to take a shower, pulling up the hair to not have it get wet. The husband had taken a shower before me so the bathroom was steamy. I showered with dry hair. I got out, dried myself and let down my hair.

Ew. Ew. Ew. My hair looks like I ran a marathon and then let it air dry. It is greasy from the scalp and down about an inch. Dents from the ponytail elastic. My hair has been recently cut but I looked like a pile of split ends. And I have no time to wash my hair.

So I hit the baby powder and the straightening iron, finally gave up and pulled it back up in an elasic. i hate wearing my hair like that, I feel too old for it - I used to wear my hair like that in college and when I worked retail. I would have like 4 pens sticking out of the mound of hair on the top of my head - like chopsticks with lids. Now I have good hair and a good cut and ponytails at my job seems.... inappropriate.

And now I have moaned over my hair and am running late. Today is long length pants and closed toe shoes day. I decide to wear my pink v-neck tissue weight merino from J. Crew with my favorite pants - I got these for $22.99 at Ann Taylor and when I bought them I thought I would have to buy a whole new shoe collection and wardrobe to match them. They are a dark chocolate brown, a stretchy twill (but not the type that picks up lint). They have fine pinstripes. A tonal brown, cherry red, pink and a tan/camel color. The cut is flattering, the leg has that perfect amount of flare at the bottom. They make my ass look good. I now realize that every color of pink works with them. Red looks good. Taupe or tan or camel or beige looks nice. The color compliments denim (and you know how much I love to wear my AT denim blazer!). As for shoes, I have tan sandals, I have these cute copper sparkly slides with tan heels. I have brown beaded thongs. I even have dark red pointy toed heels that look cute int he winter with these pants. So I chose the tan sandals.

Typical makeup, typical silver jewelery. Atypical greasy, limp and bent up hair. So maybe a 7 sort of day. At least I am wearing a fabulous color to compensate for uggy hair.

Uncreative Monday

I usually wash all my delicates (those DRY CLEAN ONLY items that do just fine on the Gentle cycle with some Woolite) on Saturdays, but this weekend didn't get around to it until Sunday night. this means sopping wet clothes hanging from every doorway upstairs and me without a nice outfit on Monday.

Should I wear jeans? I know it's acceptable, but I feel guilty wearing them more than Fridays. I do on occassion, but try to sassy them up with a jacket, heels, accessories and good hair. I showered last night and went to bed with wet hair (means limp, frizzy and weirdly parted hair int he morning) so that means the good hair option is out the window. Sassy closed toe heels are out since my toenail is skating on thin ice and I fear it rubbing against the toebox of a shoe might make it fall off.

At the bottom of my pants drawer I found some icky black stretch twill trousers I got on a mad sale at The Gap. Mad as int hese pants were $6.99. I think it cost more to have 2,000" cut off the bottom to make them the right length for me. the pants fit well and are compfrtable, but I don't find them very hip looking (very straight and... basic). Also they are that gross type of stretch twill that seem to be made out of Swiffers. They pick up the
craziest amount of lint and dog hair and all kinds of stuff so you look dirty and dishevled even though the pants are straight from the cleaners. So it was these or jeans.

On went the icky pants. I am probably paranoid. They are a heavy twill, they probably look just fine. With it I wore my beloved Ann Taylor dark denim blazer and an indigo v-neck sleeveless silk sweater from the same store. Silver cuff, silver hoops and a necklace from Chico's of three skinny black leather ropes holding up an abstract hammered circle pendant. Hangs right at my collar bone.

I tried straightening my hair, but the bangs were doing a weird cowlicky thing. I did an early 90's sort of look, brushed them to the side and clipped them in place.

Makeup was the usual - tinted moisturizer, nude shadow, mascara and subtle gloss. Did add a dusting of blush to the cheeks to have some glow.

Shoes? The pointy toed black heels would have been best but with the mashed up toe, I wore my black leather heeled thong sandals.

I feel like a mourner. Navy, dark denim and black. I am a walking bruise with bad hair. I am not used to this subtle of an outfit. At least my purse is apple green.

I get a compliment on the elevator. I get a compliment at the coffee machine. I get a compliment walking to my office. What, do people like me in dark colors? What, my hair looks good when it's from the era of Clueless? I hate using compliments as a reference for the caliber of my outfit. You have to take in consideration who is giving you the rave.

I received a rave from this woman Christine in my office. Christine does not wear makeup. She has glasses with pink-tinted lenses and clear pink plastic frames. today she is wearing a pale lavendar ensemble - polyester shantung tapered trousers (with pleats!) and a matching square-necked shell. Over this is a faux shantung short sleeved jacket with shoulder pads, gold buttons and a lovely lavender, gray and olive green cabbage rose pattern. Shoes are beige flats with black rubber soles.

Nice lady, but how can I take a compliment from her seriously? can I add that she is only 35? Where do 35 year old women who live near a metropolitan city get the idea that a granny set from Kohl's for an Easter church service is appropriate for a busy consulting firm? Where does she find these clothes? Why is it that women with poor fashion sense reach out for large prints, cheap fabrics and ill fitting pants? Why can't they just stick to boring subtle colors... colors like I am wearing? If she likes what I am wearing why doesn't she follow suit with her... suit?

Commando

We spent the greater portion of the day in bed. We slept, we made love, we read, we made baby talk to the dog on the floor and made baby talk to one another.

I got up to make dinner. I put on his tee shirt that was thrown over the end of the bed. It smelled like his skin and his cologne. Slipped on a pair of his boxers, sneaked them out of his drawer. They were Banana Republic - red with little dogs all over them.

Dinner was delish - asian noodles with a chili garlic sauce. I added onions, scallions, peas (had some in the freezer and wated more veggie) and big shrimp. Hot sauce on mine, mild for The Husband. Watched ROCKSTAR:INXS on VH1, fell asleep during the Prime Time Emmies and went back to bed.

Went back to commando.

Going to a Concert...

and I am BEAT from the wedding! We have tickets to see a concert - a performer my husband likes but I don't know well. A big group of us are going. I don't have time for a cat nap. I take quick shower. I decide to straighten my hair, it has been a long time. My friend Shelly comes over and says my hair looks awesome. Yay!

Makeup is my MAC foundation, concealer and set with my Almay bronzing powder in Light. I do my "Going Out" eye:
1. Off-white matte shadow in the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up. A light dusting of the same shadow on the brow bone.
2. Taupe shadow over the lid.
3. Lashes curled, then curled again. Two layers of my MAC Zoom Lash to attempt the desired look of false lashes.
4. A nice line of the best liquid liner I have found. I have mastered liquid liner. May it go in and out of style, it doesn't matter to me. I love the Audrey/Playmate look it creates. I am obsessed. I try to wean myself off, but return to it time and again.
5. My favorite lip gloss this month.

As for the body? I wore a pair of darkish jeans from The Gap Outlet at the beach. The have patch front pockets, are a think stretch denim with a premium finish, modified flare leg. Incredibly flattering and only $20. On top I wore a hot pink tube top. Silver medium hoops, silver cuff bracelet.

On the feet? Usually I would wear a cute pair of strappy heels. Tonight my feet were throbbing from the wedding, so I went White Trash and wore black stacked flops. The jeans were long, my toes were pedicured, I hoped no one noticed.

Four of us have a nice dinner at a restaurnt near by - light fare. I have the most amazing sandwich. Portabello filled with pesto cream cheese, roasted red peppers, alfalfa sprouts, fresh spinach on multi grain thick bread. Had that with a local brewsky and I was a happy camper. Oh, I also ate the crunhy pickle. It was cold. If the pickle is warm or limp, I cannot stomach it.

Then we went to the show. It's a pretty cool venue, General Admission with a few bars, lots of space, good ventilation, a balcony and even a 3rd floor with stadium seating for those who don't want to dance and mingle and brush against strangers.

The band? Eh, not my scene. And I am a huge fan of almost any genre of music and I adore live performances. I just found his lyrics too simplistic, too repetitive. I caught myself singing along not because I liked the song, but because the same lyrics were repeated so often I felt hypnotized to sing.

But hey, it was fun to go out with the big group, and I saw a friend I haven't seen in a while. Shelly is going away for a week on business, so it was good to dance and sing with her before her trip.

And I got a lot of approving looks in that sassy tube top, and I don't think a soul saw my 4 year old flops peeking out from my jean hem.

Office Maven by Weekday, Wedding Coordinator by Weekend

While wedding planning, I met a lot of women on The Knot. I frequented the message boards for my city, asking for opinions on caterers and bridal salons. Through this I met the women on a message board I used to be a part of and I even created a messag ebaord exclusively for planning and past brides of the site I got married at.

One of the women on the latter of the two boards became a professional wedding coordinator and on occassion needs assistance at weddings. She hires me out. Today I had one at the mansion both she and I were married at.

This wedding today was a day wedding. I wanted to wear a pair of full leg winter white trousers with some beige silk heeled sandals and my cute beaded top, but the coordiantor said that she usually has her team dress in all black and suits.

Um. it was 95 degrees today and 100% humidity. A suit??? But what the boss lady wants, she gets.

I dress in my black Triacetate suit from Ann Taylor. It's a full leg trouser and a tailored jacket. Under, I wear a bacl matte jersey shell I bought at The Limited back in oh... possibly 1999. It has a slight drape neck and boat neck. So flattering, and has held up so beautifully washing after washing. I wore a strad of black pearls that my sister gave me for Christmas this past year, and the black leather thing heels fromt he night before (these are MAGIC SHOES! I can wear them all day without any foot pain!).

Makeup was subtle - dewy face, mild gloss, nude shadow, hint of liner and lots of mascara. Hair was curly (showered but didn't wash the hair for a fun beachy curl look that maintains even when sweating).

The jacket was never worn. I hung it in the mansion's coat closet. It was a million degrees outside, a thousand inside. Running around lighting votives, cleaning up spills, getting the mother of the bride coffee can really make you hot and sweaty! Those that think wedding coordiantion is glamorous should try it. Ha! I get filthy. I sweat my ass off. My feet hurt. My clothes are scuffed (someone has to lie on the patio and drop the gardenias just so in the fountain!), my makeup smeared, my hair eitther limp and damp or a rat's nest. I am having people snap their fingers for my attention, bitch to me about things out of my control, ask impossible requests and get pissed when I cannot deliver. Mothers freak out, fathers get power hungry and wallet protective. Brides get amnesia, grooms get drunk to squelch their nervousness. Bridesmaids get pissy, groomsmen disappear somewhere to smoke a cigarette. All of this happens right before something like posed photos, cake cutting or the first dance.

This wedding wasn't bad. She was a women from the message board I created. Sort of bridezilla in planning, but come the day of her wedding, she was calm, understanding and looked beautiful. Her family and wedding party were so nice and cooperative. The guests were pleasant. Almost all her vendors were professional and easy to manage (let's jsut forget about the DJ). And hey, I left with a nice check from the head coordinator and it was only 4pm! Time to party!

Dinner in the City

I get home, battered and bruised: on the exterior and my ego. That fall was the office entertainment all day. A coworker who works onsite with a government client int he city called me to ask how my walking skills were. Thanks a lot.

The Husband napped all day and is ready to go out. I was driving home thinking about the two baked potatoes, two steaks and great fresh veggies I had in the fridge, waiting to be cooked and assembled for a nice quiet dinner. Even stopped at the store to pick up a nice bottle of red wine. The Husband wanted someone else to cook, and he wanted a social night. This is rare for him (he's a home body) so I took two Advil and a 30 minute power nap to recuperate.

We decided to go with a couple we are good friends with. The wife was a college sorority sister of mine. The husband does marathons and adventure races with my S.O. (significant other). They live a few blocks down the street in the same quirky Historic town we do. We offer to drive, they offer the suggestion of a little Ethopian restaurant they have frequented.

My hair was curly that day, and after the nap it had a wild look, almost like the makings of dreadlocks. I didn't have the time to repair the damage, so I pull it back with a Liberty scarf my sister got for me in London. It has a hibiscus colored border, and the print int he center is a combination of black, white, gray, hibiscus and pale salmon dots. I folded it to the width of an alice band and tied it under my hair to be a head band. I then fluffed the hair so it looked wild and artsy around the scarf.

Makeup was the same as the day, but with a touch up of mascara, powder and gloss.

Large silver hoops. Large silver cuff. Same jeans thatr I wore all day. Black leather thongs with a 3" heel from Target.

Then my favorite top which I can no longer find ont he Nordstrom website. It's a lightweight black sweater in a nubby texture. Boatneck that falls off one shoulder. The sleeves are dolman and wide at the bottom, come to points. Almost like a poncho that is gathered at the waist, but a bit more structured. Fitted waistband. Gosh I wish this top was still on the site so you could have a picture. It's so much fun. I got it in kiwi as well, but that color with my big breasts was not a great look. I actually passed it to the friend we went to dinner with. She admitted she almost wore her version that night but changed her mind last minute. Good thing!

The restaurant was quaint, the food was amazing (lamb tripe is yum!), the beer was a perfect compliment, and I had a food coma and a beer buzz by the end of the meal. We trotted over to Cold Stone for dessert. I had a Like It size (small) of Sinless (sugar free, fat free sweet cream) with bananas, pineapples and a bit of coconut. We ate it out on a bench on the street, people watching and chatting.

By the time we got some, it was close to midnight, I was sore, buzzed, fattered and very sleepy. The Husband and I had a cup of tea and both fell asleep trying to watch a show on TV. He woke before me and dragged me to bed. Ah, the life of a suburban adult. In bed by midnight.

Paranoid!

So I started getting dressed this morning, and then I wondered if what I was putting on was the same darn thing I put on last Friday. I ran to my computer to check this blog, and my internet was down! Horror!

What to do? Wear this outfit? Scrounge around the closet for another? Does it even matter? I work with computer techie boys, their idea of casual Friday is a wrinkled polo shirt rooted out of the hamper and some chinos with pleats, a few stains and a hem short enough to show off their ankle bones and athletic socks.

I realized it mattered to me to look cute more than it did to look like I have mroe than one week's worth of outfits.

So the outfit was:

Brown jewel neck sleeveless shell of silk/cashmere blend from Banana Republic. I bought it last spring in pink with a matching cardigan and wore it to my wedding rehearsal dinner with some fabu pink and silver paisley brocade cropped pants with silver strappy heels. Well this one I found for $9.99 at the Banana outlet a few miles from my job! Score!

Over the shell I wore a stone canvas motocross inspired cut jacket from Mecca. You know me and my fashion deals from there! The jacket has brown stitching and a really great shape. I wore with this a necklace of funky wood, ceramic and glass beads in brown tones. My great aunt made the necklace in the 40's or something, but it is so current now. Love it!

On the bottom I wore my beloved jeans from The Gap that I made a teensy more vintage looking. On my feet I wore snakeskin pointy toed super high heeled pumps from Nine West. They are shades from a pale beige to taupe to brown and scream for raves and compliments every time I wear them.

Hair was curly, makeup was subtl;e and dewy with a slight smoky brown eye and sheer gloss with a slight peach tint. Single thin gold bangle.

I got to work, set up my laptop and then had to go right into a conference, without time to check this blog to see if I had made a repeat performance. I KNOW I wore these jeans last Friday. But the rest of the ensemble? This question was praying on my mind as I walked to the conference room carrying my folio, a pen, two binders, my Nalgene bottle and half of a bagel from the kitchen with chive cream cheese (yum!).

High heels make me feel as though I can walk with authority, as though I am a super model on the runway. I sauntered to the room, with five of my male peers following behind.

And then it happened.

Somehow my right heels caught on to a "vintage" area of the hem of my left jean leg. One of those places that is threadbare. Well the heel ran right through those threads, made a hole and my legs were pinned together. I started to lose my balance. I tried to stand on my one left leg and by doing that, I propelled myself forward about six feet, then fell to the ground, skidding down the hallway carpet a few feel a la Slip N Slide. Cream cheese bagel in hair and on carpet. Nalgene bottle rolled into VP's office. Papers everywhere, and I in severe pain. Not hospitalization pain, but battered, bruised and terribly embarassed pain.

So I stood up, looked at all my worried coworkers who viewed the incident and bowed.
"Thank you, thank you. If you wish to see more, the next performance will cost you."

They all laughed, and we walked into the conference room. The joke all conference. was about my fall. I was laughing only on the outside. On the inside I was worried about the damage to my favorite jeans, and wodnering how badly I scuffed the elbow of my jacket. After and hour I just had to excuse myself to the restroom to check out the situation.

Jacket - Intact.
Hem of jeans - torn, but sort of in a cool thrift-store way.
Elbow - scraped and slightly bleeding, but not enough to get on jacket
Knee - scraped but not bleeding
Right big toe - toenail broken 1/2 way down and then that part split. Bleeding. Purple. HURRRRTS!
Hair - free of cream cheese. Got all of that without a mirror before the conference started. Whew!

and my mind? Still wondering if I wore this outfit last Friday too. I sneak to my office before returning to the conference room.

I'm safe! I now remember that I wore the orange J. Crew sweater last Friday! Yay me!

Sassy? Or Trashy?

I had a hard time dressing this morning. I had plans to go to a baseball game with a friend after work, and didn't want to make a complete wardrobe change in the office bathroom.

Today the hair is curly, and much better curls. I didn't wash it. I piled it up in the shower and the steam helped it curl up. I then took a 1/5" barrel curling iron to it to add some shape.

Makeup is just tinted moisturizer, some bronser, my Nars Orgasm blush, mascara and a touch of a dusty lavender shadow that picks up the purples and pinks of my outfit without looking 80's.

I decided on a denim skirt from Old Navy that was ridiculously cheap. Iw as looking for a pair of jeans, weeding through their racks. I found a piece of denim with my size on the hanger and yanket it out of the wall. It ended up being a skirt, and a skirt for the low low price of $4.97! The skirt was very... dark and new looking. So I took it home, attacked it with some sandpaper and bleach and now it's distressed and fun.

So I am wearing the denim skirt with nude legs, a lavender scoop neck silk shell from Ann Taylor Loft and over it, a cute pink stretch courdoroy shrunken blazer by Live a Little (this brand can be found at Nordstrom. I could not find this jacket on their site, so I linked a similar cut but in suede). Ont he lape I am wearing a brooch I found in a thrift store 10 years ago and looks so current now. It's pink and clear and gray stones int he shape of a flower and very sparkly.

On my feet I am wearing some rocking pumps. This is where I wonder if the outfit is getting trashy instead of sassy. These are hot pink pointy toed, high heeled pumnps from NYLA. I got them at Off Broadway last year, doubting my purchase the entire time I was in the cashier's line and the ride home. best purchase ever! These shoes are a bright pink, have an outrageous shape, are studded and have two straps with buckles across the toe bed. They totally rock and every time I wear them people ooh and aah over them. Oooh wait, i have a picture of them from a rehearsal dinner I wore them to last year!

Anyway, the blazer is a lighter pink, but somehow it works in a SJP/SITC sort of way. Matchy matchy is so boring boring.

But high heeled pumps with a denim mini skirt? I sort of feel like Tina Turner in the What's Love Got to Do With It video. I have received compliments, but not necessarly fromt he most stylish people int he office.

I threw a fitted tee in our team's color and a pair of flops in the car to switch into after work. Get to work to find out the game is not tonight. My friend got the dates confused!

So Sassy!

I today have compensated for my hideous attire over the past few days. Go me.

Fabulous denim blazer that I got from Ann Taylor. Just went to their site to find a picture of the blazer, and it's already gone!

Wait! Just checked sale... there are still a few left! This jacket is worth $100. I have bought so many darn denim jackets and blazers, none being quite right. This one RAWKS because it's lightweight enough to no make me look like a fullback, it has an eensy bit of stretch, is dark denim but has a nice premium look so not too boring. It's petite! It FITS!

So under the fabu blazer is an orange-red silk tank from Banana Republic. I have a pleated drop waist shantung skirt to match that I wore to a wedding this summer. No, I did not wear the skirt today.

Instead I wore my one purchase from the Isaac Mizrahi collection at Target. I love the concept, but I find these clothes to be cheaply made, cheap fabrics, poor fitting. This one skirt I adored and luckily it fit. Those who are Target Obsessed may remember this skirt from last fall. Ivory and black zebra-print courdoroy pencil skirt. It fits like a dream and is a good transitional piece for this Fall month that feels like Summer.

Bare legs (I abhore stockings unless it's a job interview. But then I wear pants for interviews) and black pumps. No these are not them, but they are very close. Same heel height, same pointed toe. My are also from Nordstrom, but I can't find them on the website.

Medium silver hoops. No other jewelery (except the beloved ring.

Hair is curly again today, but not as fun as the past few days. Looks a bit limp and metal-head-like. The reason I usually straighten it.

Foundation applied with a wet brush gives a sheer finish. Touch up my dark circles with concealer. Set it with the best bronzing powder I have found lately (though not featured on their site!!!), then a quick pat of blush on my cheeks. Curled the lashes, put on mascara and some gloss and I am ready to go!

The Top 10 Items for Fall 2005

1. A Black Pantsuit in a Seasonless Fabric (crepe, triacetate, wool gabardine).
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Tailored classic jacket, pants that are tailored but not tight. This is a piece to spend money on. It can be used as separates, or together for a multitude of events (interviews, funerals, cocktail parties, even weddings). If you can get a matching skirt, all the better.

2. Black Classic Pumps.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Leather is best. A height of heel to look good with pants as well as skirts. They should be as versatile as the suit.

3. A Black or Dark Navy Sheath Dress From a Seasonless Fabric.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
The fabric will be able to go from work with a twinset to a wedding with a wrap.

4. Jeans in a Classic Yet Stylish Wash (right now is the Japanese Premium denim look - ringspun or old fashioned looking denim).
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Slightly low rise, but no belly button showing. Slim in the leg but not tight, boot cut leg. This is the most universally flattering cut, and luckily the most popular cut right now.

5. A V-Neck Sweater in a "Happy" Color.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Fine gauge cotton, lightweight merino, cashmere, silk knit. A fabric that holds up with minimal stretching or pilling. Don't worry about what color is "in" or what season someone told you to wear. Find a color that makes you grin every time you see it. For me it's a bright light aqua or candy pink or a mango orange. For others it could be red or Easter egg lavender. Have it be something fun. Black, taupe, beige, cream, white, gray and brown do not apply. This is a sweater that you can wear and someone will see the color and say "I LOVE that color!" No one ever says that about beige. As for being a v-neck - this makes your neck look longer, your body seem longer and slimmer, and it's a feminine neckline while still being work-appropriate.

6. Hoop Earrings That are Bigger in Diameter Than Half-Dollars.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I know many women do not wear earrings or large earrings, but a pair of hoops will dress up any outfit, and are terribly flattering. If you get sterling silver, you can get hollow hoops that won't be as heavy. There are always kiosks in malls selling silver jewelry -these usually have great options ranging from $10 - $30.

7. A Sparkly Top.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Sort of generic... but the idea is a top or shell that looks great alone or under a jacket. With a skirt or pants (or even jeans!). This top with a black skirt is appropriate for an evening at the theater. With a suit for a cocktail party. With jeans for a night at a club. A subtle color is good so it's not as obvious when you wear it to more than one occasion. Ivory, taupe, pale pink, black, gray/silver, bronze. Good options and they are easy to pair with black and most shoes. I actually own the blush colored top. Wore it to a wedding with full leg crepe trousers, to a club with jeans, and to a work cocktail party with an ivory pantsuit. It's less than $100 and from Nordstrom, comes in a multitude of sizes and several colors.

8. A Great Blazer.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Now is the time to find the perfect one. One in a fun fabric and color or print. A great way to jazz up an outfit. Suede, velvet, leather, corduroy. Again, find a color you like, not necessarily what is easy or trendy. I have a pink suede blazer I purchased a few years ago. It looks great with jeans and a tank, with a silk shell and trousers, a turtleneck and tweed skirt, or even over a dress. Color is actually more safe than neutrals - it pulls the eye away from one's flaws. One sees color and gets happy. Suddenly you have great hair, a fun outfit and have lost 5 lbs. Look for a fitted style, but one that does not bunch at the back. Get the sleeves the right length, and make sure it doesn't droop at the shoulders.

9. A Fun Skirt.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
A-line and drop-waist styles are most flattering. Look for a length that is sassy yet not slutty. Right above the knee is usually a good choice. A fun print or unique fabric is always good. This is something that will jazz up a boring sweater, a conservative twinset, an old tank. Be daring, but make sure the fabric drapes nicely and it looks flattering from the front, side and back. Sit in it - see how it may crease or ride. You may be scared to buy something like this, but you will get tons of wear once you see how great of a piece it is.

10. A Wool Coat for Winter.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Should go past the hips, single breasted is most flattering. This should be a well-fitting and well made piece. A great wool coat will be a staple in your winter wardrobe for decades if you choose wisely. This is not a piece where you get fancy decorative trimmings or the hippest cuff. Classic tailored fit is best. Notched collar, tonal buttons. You may get creative with the color, but not too wild. Black is a safe bet, as is camel. Red, robin's egg blue, celadon and plum are also great choices. You want a length that looks good with pants and skirts. It should not make you resemble the Michelin man. Look for linings made of Primaloft or other lightweight yet warm fabrics that will add coziness not bulk.

What is My Damage?

I brought tomato soup for lunch.

It is now on my trousers and a spot right above my left nipple on my silk sweater.

I am a MESS this week!

Long Pants and Closed Toe Shoes....

So I begin my class in stained glass this evening, after work.
The course is close to work, not home.
The course requires long pants and closed toe shoes.
It is to be ninety degrees today - code orange.
I woke up late and had a terrible time sleeping last night. this means i am cranky and not very creative wardrobe-wise.

I take a quick shower, keeping the water away from my hair. The steam bounces yesterday's curls back, and I just add a touch of sillicone glosser to get rid of the flyaways.

Makeup is only mascara, a bit of concealer, a bit of bronzer, and lip gloss in the car on the way to work.

Signature silver hoops and cuff.

Pale blue silk knit v-neck sweater from Ann Taylor and my trusty stone colored low-slung chinos from Old Navy. For shoes, my tan thong heels from Target dress up the outfit a bit and make it less frunpy and more classic.

I brought my beloved Converse sneaks to switch into for the class. Gosh they don't go at ALL but hey, it's the only covered toe shoe that I will allow my foot to go into during weather like this!

New Employee

My Director is away on a business trip, so I had to welcome the new manager, set him up, do his orientation. Thought I should look nice.

I wore two sets of multiple strand small black wood beads as a necklace. It's a good 1 1/2" of black wood around my collar bone. I like the impact, though I hate not being able to wear silver jewelery. The two necklaces came from my alma mater.

With this I wore my wrinkle resistant white tailored shirt from Store I Never Shop At. I went in there on a whim, I needed a crisp white shirt for an old job (aaahhh.... love theme days in the retail world) and didn't want to pay a lot. I found this beauty for $12.99 on their clearance rack. I have taken it on many a business trip because it really is wrinkle resistant. I love it with jeans, a Liberty scarf and pointy boots, and even wear it as a beach cover up.

Today, I wore it with black full leg trousers from Ann Taylor's Triacetate collection. These pants have a matching shell, jacket and skirt. Love it!!!

On the feet are black open toed mules of leather. I have worn them so much, I do not know the designer, but do know I got them for a STEAL at Off Broadway.

So I popped my collar to accentuate the necklaces. I decided to wear my hair curly, and tied the shirt loosely at the waist (I find this far more flattering than tucking in, and guys love it - no, no skin showing, just nipped in a bit). Good makeup (dewey face, black lashes and subtle liquid liner, white shadow in the tear ducts, defined brows, nude balm/gloss. Looks great with my tan), I felt sassy.

We took the new employee to lunch to welcome him. I dip a piece of grilled chicken into my salad's vinagrette and it splatters all over my white shirt!!! It was hot in the car we took to lunch. I felt as though I may be glistening a bit. I stop by the Ladies Room before returning to my office, and see that my popped collar has wilted, I have beige oily stains down my chest, my curly hair now looks as though I am the long lost member of Winger, and my eyeliner smudged a bit.

Is it 5:00 yet?

Lazy Ass

I got up to find that two of my friends slept over in the living room. I had thrown on the boxers and tee-shirt from the previous day. Let the dog out, he ran around with his Jolly Ball and I did crunches on the deck. Then came back in to move all the empty beer bottles and cans to the recycling bin.

My mom called and asked if I would like to get a cup of coffee with her. Didn't even shower, just threw the hair up in an elastic, put on my glasses (my allergiesw are bothering me, decided to give my eyes a contacts vaca). I put on the same pair of Gap jeans, with a 3/4 sleeve scoop neck sweater from Caslon that I got at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale. My black Reefs, and I was off.

After coffee, chat, and a stop at my childhood home to pick up some art supplies, I headed back to my house. My friends were gone, and the house a mess. Switched back to the tee and boxers, did a few loads of laundry and dishes with the husband vaccumed and wet dusted.

he is taking a nap before work, I am cooking dinner. Don't plan on changing my attire until tomorrow morning!

Casual Brunch and Errand Running... Became House Party!

I took a super quick shower to rinse the conditioner out of my hair, and quickly hit it with the hairdryer. My hair had this fabulous beachy look due to conditioner still left in it. I twisted around a few locks to make it more piecey, washed my face, applied only powder, mascara and lip balm.

My dear friend and I went to our favorite Greek diner for chicken souvlaki salads and water with lemon. I wore the same vintage jeans from the day before (jeans are better the second day), and a dark gray vintage CBGB tee shirt. Same black Reef flops. Left the purse at home, slid the license and check card in the back pocket.

After lunch, we hit Zips Dry cleaning so I could drop off the duvet and shams for their bi-monthly freshning. Then we hit Mecca for some necessities. I had been at the beach the weekend prior and forgot my toilitry bag and needed to refill in time for my next business trip. I purchased:
1. An off-white silk shade and a black matte finish metal base to make a new lamp for the living room. Compliments the leather couches quite nicely as that the black finish looks like dark brown. The shade looks nice against the curtains. Far better than the inherited ceramic vase-style lamp of prior.
2. A funky cherry red patent travel bag from Sonia Kashuk that holds a TON of travel sized things. I also got a second bag but in a floral print for all my makeup when I travel. My current cosmetic bag has met it's maker.
3. For toilitries, I got shampoo and conditioner by Pantene (not every day, but a good small-sized substitute for trips), a mini shower gel by Dial (again, just for trips), toothpaste, shaving gel, contact lens solution, hairspray, a body buffer, and razor blades. I still had my travel toothbrush, body lotion, razor and brush. It's so cool that it all fits in one case now!

My friend and I got home, just as my husband and his friend got home from martial arts class - they went to a workshop on using a knife for self defense. THey were starving so we went to our favorite margarita hangout. The guys got colossal plates of food covered in sauces and cheese, while my friend and I downed two large Top Shelf margaritas each and nibbled on some chips. We got up and realized we were feeling mightily buzzed.

The four of us went back to our house. The guys practiced their knife skills in the back yard and smoked cigars, while my friend and I watched one of my favorite shows on TV and opened a bottle of some of the best cheap wine there is. Two more friends came over bringing wine, beer and more cigars. We ordered thin crust pizza, popped in some movies, and I promptly fell asleep!

Not Completely Awake

It's Saturday morning. I am up, did my crunches and some yoga. Now trying to get the house taken care of. My husband is running with a friend - they are training for a marathon. I am doing laundry, washing dishes and cleaning.

Therefore, all I am wearing is a tee shirt from my hometown's Boys and Girls club, with a pair of Banana Republic boxers that belong to the husband.

This is always a good time to take care of the body. I have slathered my hair with conditioner and held it up with a Goody Ouchless elastic. I also have on a face mask from The Body Shop to deep clean and condition the skin. I have Bag Balm on my feet, covered with some clearance socks from The Gap. All about the multi-tasking!

Dinner at our Friend's House

My husband was babysat by the wife of this couple, the husband has been his friend since high school and once was his roommate. Can't get more relaxed, honest and comfortable. It was a last minute spaghetti dinner while watching the concert/telephone for Katrina relief (and yes, we all have donated in many ways).

Wore the same "vintage" jeans from work the same day.

Green spaghetti strap top from The Gap that I got for a steal for $6.99. It's made from tissue weight jersey, has three ruffled layers and is the best color of jade green.

Same silver hoops and silver cuff bracelet.

Solid black Reef "Sandy" flops. Simple silver toe ring.

Took a shower just before heading out. Left with wet hair, just added a bit of Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Defining Lotion which gave me beachy loose curls by time we arrived at our friends' house.

Fresh pasta, homemade sauce and garlic bread, good wine, great salad, good music and a good cause. Great way to blow off steam from the work week.

Casual Friday

Gap jeans, low rise bootcut. Vintage washed, but enhanced by me. Sanded edges for fraying, and homemade whiskering at zipper.

Orange fine gauge cotton v-neck sweater from J.Crew in an orange-red.

Tan thong sandals with 2" heel from Target. One single band for a toe ring (never comes off). Sheer nude nails (OPI's Coney Island Cotton Candy).

Silver large cuff bracelet. Medium-sized silver hoops and intricate silver necklace from Chico's.

Hair was air dried except for the front causing beachy waves and and a bit of 70's feathering in front.

Makeup is minimal - well it's non-existant except for some tinted lip balm from a Origins. I woke up late today.

September 8, 2005

Happy Hour After Work, Have to Dress for Both...

Pink lightweight merino v-neck sweater from J.Crew.

Low-slung stone colored chinos from Old Navy with a slight bootcut leg.

Tan thong sandals from Target with a 2" heel.

Silver medium sized hoops and large silver cuff.

Hair dried straight, but after drinking a few margaritas it started to wave.

Not the significant other. He is a coworker.
