Wednesday

Black stretch v-neck sweater from Banana Republic. Denim trousers from Ann Taylor. Pewter leather braided belt from Target. Silver cuff bracelet. Black leather heeled sandals from Target as well.

Hair is dirty. I woke up early, but got distracted by several emails and blogs and ended up having 10 minutes to get ready. I took a round brush and dryer to already dry hair to smooth it and give it shape. A small drop of BioSilk to make it look less fried.

Eyes were really bothering me last night and today. Chose to wear my glasses instead. To make my eyes pop out, I did a smoky eye - The Body Shop's Granite on the lid, Soft Black along the lash lines and the crease. Two coats of L'Oreal Voluminous mascara to curled lashes. Bare Minerals foundation, concealer and Warmth. On lips is Sally Hansen's Diamond Lipgloss in Royal Romance.

  1. I love your blog Dilly! I've been looking for some ideas to look more polished at work, but definitely not in a suit everyday. You've given me lots to think about. I never wear jewlery and makeup, but I'm starting to think it would help pull my look together more.

  2. Just curious...how do you like the Bare Minerals foundation? I'm a MAC Studiofix user, but I'm finding it heavy for summer and it's making me break out. And I've been using the stuff for YEARS, so I don't know what's going on. I refuse to accept my dermatologist's diagnosis of "adult-onset acne", because wasn't it bad enough to have it through teenagehood and prenancy?

Enough rambling...I love your blog! And those Gap denim gauchos are amazing!

  3. I really like the bare minerals line. I too have used MAC Studio Fix and have liked it too, and have also gotten breakouts from it (I believe it like other MAC products contains titanium dioxide which often causes skin irritation and breakouts). It's a messy product, hard to travel with, but you don't really need touchups through the day (I use MAC Blot Powder when I do need to). It takes a while to get used to application of it, some people (me included) find it itches a bit when you first put it on. However with it I break out less, feel as though my skin looks naturally good, not applied. it holds up to sweat and heat and lets my freckles shine through. On the QVC website there is a $30 or so kit that has minis of the most popular products - I tried that first so i didn't have to do the whole investment. Since then I have bought foundation twice, Warmth once, and have to buy my second concealer - I realyl like it! And the BE website has tons of tips and tricks and videos to help you apply it.

Thanks for the compliment! And I do adore my Gap gauchos! :-)

  4. So of course I went to The Gap today to see if I could locate those gauchos, but no such luck. I guess I missed the boat on those :(

Thanks for the Bare Minerals advice. I'll see if I can locate the line here (Canada, where we are painfully slow to get cool stuff). I think I'm also going to be using my Smashbox wet/dry foundation (applied with a brush) more this summer since it seems to be freaking my skin out less.

And can I just say I want your hair?

  5. I LOVE those glasses, what brand are they?

  6. They are Gucci but I bought them several several years ago.... 2001 I believe. I also believe they are men's frames - I ahve a big head and women's frames are usually smaller than my head and make me look weird and smooshed.

  7. Those glasses rock! I also like the lipgloss, very natural.

  8. You look like a Bond girl here in the outfit, and the glasses give you that "I'm a Bond Girl with a PhD" sorta look.
