My Wardrobe Today - Tuesday

Black merino turtleneck - Ann Taylor
Black trousers - Gap Perfect Trousers Pants
Black leather booties - Fitzwell "Andrea"
Necklace - Ann Taylor (no longer available - Spring 2010)
Bracelet - eBay

The eBay seller stated this is a bracelet from Anthropologie - I don't really know because there is no tags or stamps on it to show the brand/store.  I don't really care because it was only $25.00 (and shipping only $1) and it's super cute.  I was in need of a brushed gold bracelet - the one I have from Twisted Silver has really gotten tarnished and icky over the years and needs to be retired (or rejuvenated in some crafty way).  I liked that this bracelet had some bling to it - thought it would be a great piece with an LBD or even with a simple tank and jeans come spring.  By the way, quite pleased with this eBay seller - this was shipped quickly in a padded envelope, wrapped in a red chiffon fabric.

Figure the accessories make up for a pretty boring outfit.  I have a really busy week at work and so many non-work responsibilities that it's nice to be able to just grab a random top and bottom from the closet and know it will work together, even if it's not the most creative ensemble.  I can't stress enough how important it is to own a wardrobe of staples that will mix and match with ease, and to remove from your closet anything you can't wear right now.  I find that having most pieces solids, and finding creativity in accent pieces and accessories makes my base wardrobe even more versatile.  Great for a busy person!

  1. BTW, totally not sure why I have red hair in these pics. Think my camera is dying...

  5. Yeah, my first thought was "Oh my gosh, she dyed her hair!" Then I read down & you didn't say anything about dying your hair & then I saw your comment! Funny how that happens. :) Love the necklace & bracelet!

  8. Allie I love this outfit! You look wonderful! I have sort of a crazy question...I am cleaning out my closets and making sure that I have pieces that will work. I gess years of buying things that I didn't need have caught up with me. My question is, whats in your closets/wardrobe? Are you closets overflowing and stuffed? Thanks! Betsy in NC

  9. I'm following up on what someone else just posted -have you ever posted an 'inventory' of your closet? I am curious to know how many pieces you actually work with.
A second question-do you have a weekly/monthly/annual clothing budget? I realize it's sort of your 'job' to wear clothes, but i'm wondering if you keep track of your spending and if you do, how you arrived at the number. I currently have a very small budget for clothes but realize i've pretty much blown it out of the water lately.

  10. Well if you ever decide to go red, you'll rock it. I think the accessories really shine in this outfit, and basic black is a great way to show 'em off ;)

  11. Yeah, I was also going to ask if you'd changed your hair color - and you really do look great as a redhead. (Although don't take that to mean your natural brunette isn't fabulous. Actually, is this where I admit that I really, really love your hair aka *trying not to be envious*)

The outfit is great too. If I had the coloring to do all-black, I'd be all over that look!

  12. Your hair looks gorgeous, and not just the color. ;) And you are looking slimmer, too.
