And so yesterday, I took off work so I could attend the Planned Parenthood rally on the Mall in DC. And I took my daughter.

Three generations together standing for Planned Parenthood
My husband stands for Planned Parenthood, for his daughter, and all the women in his life
I could go into details about what is going on right now on Capitol Hill, but if you follow the news you already know. However I realize that most people do not understand that federal funding for Planned Parenthood does not fund abortions. From a recent Jezebel article:
Since it needs to be said again: Federal money to Planned Parenthood and other family planning clinics goes to providing contraceptive services, sex ed, STI and HIV testing, and cervical cancer screenings. The Hyde Amendment prohibits federal funding to abortions.
Whatever your leanings, if you are a woman, you deserve to have access to healthcare. Planned Parenthood offers screening for cancer, prenatal visits and care for pregnant women, and a visit with a medical professional that many women may never otherwise have.
I rarely go into politics or social issues on this blog because I want this blog to be a resource to all women, regardless of political leaning, religion, culture. However this is a blog primarily read by American women and this current issue affects all of us. Please, I ask you to know what is going on right now with the government, and understand what Planned Parenthood really does, and who it helps.
I now take you back to your regularly scheduled fashion blog...
