  1. I have had the best luck during the day – before lunch at Sephora or a counter at a higher end department store – Trish McEvoy, Bobbi Brown… they give good pointers and are quite skilled and not as busy as MAC.

I swear the only reason I can do a smokey eye is because I have the right tools. Almost 10 years ago I splurged on a ton of brushes from Trish McEvoy – I have one to apply the base color, one that fits in the crease and with a window-washer motion can get a nice blended color in there, a very small soft brush for a line along the lashes, a slant brush to wiggle into the lash line for darker, concentrated color.

I learned a lot about makeup application when I worked for the Body Shop. The shops in the higher-end malls, the managers have probably been through some good training. They aren’t usually licensed artists, but their stores are slow enough and their makeup departments extensive enough that they will take the time to play and teach you a few things if makeup is their specialty.

  2. Any ideas on where i could get a make up application lesson? Sephora, macy’s? I would mainly like to learn how to do my eyes, because i’m not very good at it. I love your smokey eyes, they’re gorgeous!
