I was actually EARLY today!  Guess you can tell by the dark sky behind me. I got up regular hour, did some crunches, some sun salutations, checked email… and then went back upstairs to get ready.  Before 7am I was fully ready for the day, AND my husband was up too!  One of his students gave him the book Born to Runir?t=whaevewomneei 20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=0307266303 and he has been devouring it – he dreamed about the book and woke up at 6am to keep reading.  And it was perfect – as I applied my lipgloss Emerson started making waking sounds, and instead of crying she was singing Jingle Bells!

I should have taken a picture without my hands in the pockets of this dress because it has a really fab silhouette you can't see.  The dress is fully lined, the fabric looks expensive, this dress is a total deal!  I wore it on New Years Eve with my champagne pearls, and could totally see it with more classic of shoes for a business event.

I sort of poufed my hair this morning – a bit of backcombing, and I pulled some side pieces to the back and held them in place with those clamp-like hair clipsir?t=whaevewomneei 20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B003ANMTM6 (love so much more than Bobby pins).  Instead of washing my hair, I did dry shampoo.  Wish I had a better picture, and one before I put on my coat and scarf and wiggled E into her car seat – I have to say it's quite cute and a great way to style “dirty” hair!

P.S. Stay tuned – later today I will be having a review of the scarf I am wearing AND a giveaway so one of you can have your very own!

This weekend will be all about getting myself organized. I had an outfit planned out, and then I couldn’t find a single pair of tights that weren’t footless or argyle. Argh! I gave up on the outfit, and put on this. Pants still fresh from the cleaners, and a sweater that hasn’t yet been worn…

Teal jersey dress from the Proenze Schouler for Target collection, brown suede slouch boots from Silhouettes, silver necklace from H&M, silver and bead necklace from Target, silver hoops and cuff. I threw on my aqua pashmina for warmth today and have left it looped around my neck for the workday. Hair is second day, brushed…

  1. I must tell you that finding your blog is such a fantastic way to start my New Year. I love your looks and as a fashion person I commend you on how well you put looks together. Excited to follow you!

  2. This looks lovely! I love the poofed up hair with the shift dress and the scarf! Tres chic! I recently discovered dry shampoo and it’s changed my life. For reals!

  3. I get up at 5:30am every day, unless I need to get to work before 7am. However I still run late from just plain putzing around. The thing is, wasting the morning only makes the rest of the day stressful. I need to be more committed to using my mornings wisely!

  4. I know, I wear these booties to DEATH! The thing is, I have very few winter shoes right now – these, black ankle booties only suitable for pants, and my black Mary Janes. My tall black boots need to go to the cobbler, as do my gray Mary Janes, and my Duo boots are starting to look very old and saggy and are only appropriate for casual situations.

So tempted to buy new shoes, but need to stay on budget! 🙂

And thank you for your comment Kathy! You are why I continue to blog! <3

  5. Love the poufy hair! I often want to do that but I just don’t seem to have the time. And the dress looks very nice. You sure love your booties, don’ you! I liked your outfit yesterday too; am loving the black/white AT sweater.

Just want to say again, for like the millionth time, that you really inspire me. Every day when I get dressed, I think about your principles and whether you would approve of what I’m wearing. Most days I think you would. Keep up the great work.
