BagHobo International “Bartola”

I haven't carried this bag in quite a while. I love it, it's the main reason why I went to last year's Hobo International sale and was excited to get it for such a great price. Yet I seem to forget about it. I knew a brown bag with this outfit would be far too matchy matchy, and thought the gray with the brown tortoiseshell strap would complement the look pretty well.

This weekend I will be helping my husband with a photo shoot, and I am going to “Estrogen Brunch” with several of my girl friends. I try to organize one of these girl brunches every so often so we can catch up, chill and enjoy one another's company over delicious diner omelets. This Sunday there's going to be at least 10 of us, can't wait!

What are your weekend plans?

  1. The belt looks weirder in the pic than it did in person.  More fitted isn’t flattering to me, and lower on the waist wasn’t either.  I think it looked good in the pic, not so hung down (think it slid forward with the hands on waist pics I took).

As for skirt length, I think Jo is on the money – depends on your office but a skirt right at, above or below the knee is usually the most flattering as well as accepted in the workplace.

  2. I know your question was directed at Allie but might I suggest that work-appropriate depends on how formal/casual your office is, as well as your age. If you are somewhat older, a longer skirt length (at, or just above or below, the knee) is usually more appropriate for most of us.

  3. Thanks – Ah, I wish there was a store within easy driving distance – I live on the east coast of Canada and it appears the closest is in Maine. But I will look for a skirt of the same style – the picture gives me a good starting point.

  4. For me the belt hangs weirdly, would like to see it either lower down (on the join between skirt and top) or maybe just a bit tighter on the waist?  I think the outfit merits a belt (and leopard print is ideal) to pull it all together, I’m just not sure this one looks like it’s sitting quite right – might just be the photos though.
The shoe boots with the tights do a great job of elongating your legs!
What skirt length do you find to be appropriate for work?  I think this looks great on you, but worry that on me I would feel it was too short for the office!

  5. I don’t know what it is about this skirt, but it is so flattering, as it was the last time you wore it. Not sure if it’s the length, the colour, the fit … whatever it is, it works and I wish I could find one to look as good.

  6. Love today’s outfit…brown is a great color for you!  I have a similar brown sweater I bought on sale at Nordstrom’s a few years ago and loved it so much I bought it in black and berry and they still look new!  When it fits, buy it in duplicates rights?  🙂
