I bought this shirt several years ago – I have the same shirt in a bright turquoise.  It's an intense color, a beautiful silk twill that can dress up or down.  Last time I wore it, I went to a St. Patrick's Day party and paired it with a green eye thanks to a chunky emerald metallic eye pencil from Sephora.  It's nice to fit into these shirts again – they are well made and the colors fantastic – especially on a rainy morning like today.

I picked these trousers up last week, the same time I got the tuxedo jacket.  They were marked down to $49.99 with an additional 40% off – not too shabby for fully-lined, well-cut trousers of a seasonless fabric!  I often shy away from navy, but this season I am loving it and find it less harsh than black and a great pairing with bright colors.  They are Ann Taylor's Curve cut, size 12 Petite.

Fitting into this shirt really makes me want to go up in the attic, dig around and see what other items I still have that will fit this new body!  Very exciting!

This weekend we had Emerson's nursery school open house – cross your fingers for us that we make it.  They only take 12 children her age, so there's some major competition!  The weekend as a whole was pretty great – had brunch with my girl friends, had some other friends over last night to watch the Oscars, and got a lot accomplished around the house!  How was your weekend?

  1. You look great in this color! Isn’t it great to go “shopping” in your own closet? I am going to be doing that myself this week.

  2. Every picture you post, I swear you get smaller and smaller looking! That’s so great that you’re able to stick to your goals and look so great doing so. I love that shirt, btw. It’s very classic and yet the color sets it apart from the average button up.

  3. Allie, you look AMAZING.
And to echo another commenter, you have now made me want a pink patent skinny belt. Great outfit.

  7. One reason I used to hate wearing navy was not knowing what shoes to wear. I think in this day and age, navy and black can be worn together. With a full suit or dress of navy, I may choose a different color, but because I have so many colors going on in this outfit, I think the black works, as a platform for the rest of the ensemble. 🙂

  8. Allie – I see you are wearing navy pants and black shoes. I normally shy away from black shoes/accessories with navy clothes. What is your opinion on that combo?

  9. this green is amazing with your hair color!

isn’t it crazy how competitive schools can get? We were really shocked when we had to shop around for preschools almost a full year before we wanted to send Michael to one. Fingers crossed Emerson gets into her school!

  11. I love this shirt. If you ever get so skinny that it doesn’t fit anymore, e-mail me! I have silk shirts on my list of items to pick up when shopping. There is just something luxurious about them, and in bright colors they’re awesome.

Which explains why you look amazing as usual! This is a great color on you!
