You’re always saying how flattering and versatile stretchy wrap dresses are. But as a plus sized woman I can’t find any. Well I have found a couple but they’re cheap and the neck is so big my bra shows. Can you help me find one?

Oh pish posh, there’s plenty of retailers who offer plus size wrap dresses! The thing is, when you’re a less popular size, be it tall, short, plus, very slim… well very something, you’ll have to look beyond your neighborhood strip mall to find clothing that fits and flatters. But these days, online shopping is a breeze. So many retailers offer free shipping and reasonably-priced or returns, it’s easy to create your perfect wardrobe from the comfort of your bedroom. Wrap dresses don't have to be a true wrap; often a faux wrap will give a better fit (and more modesty on a windy day) but offer the same figure-flattering shape and versatility.  You don't have to take all advice literally; pick and choose to find what works best with you.  Here’s some great plus size wrap dresses to update your wardrobe for spring and summer and many that will work for the majority of the year:

Printed Plus Size Wrap Dresses

I’m not a huge prints fan, but I do like them when it comes to the occasional blouse and the occasional dress. I have a couple printed wrap dresses and find them to be the perfect go-to for work, a day wedding, a date night, and everything in between. A print camouflages lumps and bumps, and makes a statement on its own without having to think too much about accessories. A maxi wrap dress is a great piece to have in your wardrobe – it dresses up easily and is such a fun yet comfortable choice for a party or evening out.

Solid Plus Size Wrap Dresses

A wrap dress in a solid color is a wardrobe workhorse. Pair with pumps for the office, switch to a sparkly necklace and statement heels for a night out, change to slingbacks and pearls for a wedding. Matte jersey and silk jersey are great choices because the fabric can dress up and down with ease. Choose one with anything from an elbow-length to bracelet-length sleeve and get wear three seasons out of the year.

  1. I think I’m going to regret giving away my “secret source” but I’ll share anyway… Lands’ End has a fabulous faux wrap dress they call a “fit and flare”. It’s available in sleeveless or elbow length sleeves depending on the season, prints and solids, plus and standard sizing. It’s my favorite dress- evah! So flattering and comfortable. I have 6 of them and didn’t pay over $30 each by watching the online clearance like a hawk.

    1. YES! They are stellar and I almost included but when I wrote this post they had only limited sizes available and I knew once it went live hardly anything would be left. But YES everyone stalk Lands’ End like a hawk, they have amazing sales and amazing dresses!!!

  2. Uh-oh, I want all the dresses! I need to update my summer work wardrobe and I think wrap dresses will be just the thing. If you have any readers with scoliosis, I can tell them that wrap dresses (faux or not) are a godsend.

  3. A $400 wrap dress? Come on. If it’s not (somewhat) affordable, it might as well be a size four for all the good it does me. Does the average WO reader shop at Neiman Marcus for “basics?” Is this Goop, now? Please include more in the way of realistic options. It’s depressing to find something great, only to click through to yet another out-of-my-price-range selection.

    1. I understand your frustration, but I featured 27 different dresses on this page and only one was in that pricerange. There are plenty featured that are under $100. And while that price may not be affordable to you, it is to others as my analytics show two individuals purchased that dress yesterday. My goal is to have a good range so there is something for every budget, but I focus more on fit and quality and longevity than how low price a piece can be.

      1. Right you are. I should have been clearer; I was looking at the pattern of cost over time, as applied to several of your posts. I make six figures, but $295 for a grey wool sheath dress
and $165 for a Paul Smith t-shirt (a t-shirt!) is still not consistent with my budget.
If analytics show that your key demographic doesn’t think spending over $100 on a t-shirt is asinine, I’m glad there’s a place for them here. I enjoyed the site – best of luck to you.

      2. I ordered the Asos Obi wrap in navy – at $73 the price was right for a dress that fits into my summer capsule and that I’ll wear and wear and wear, even with the tailoring it’ll need. (I had to order a larger size – I’m glad I was able to snap one up before they were all gone!)

    1. Thanks for sharing that, it’s brilliant! And I agree, Kiyonna is amazing; they work for cusp size me but they’re so gorgeous I wish they had an even larger size selection! But I know plus size women say this all the time about so many other retailers! 🙂

  4. I agree 100% on Kiyonna. They have sidewalk sales where you can purchase the wrap dresses for $60. I’ve purchased different styles in black, navy, maroon, green and grey – and love every single one.
