Today is a tough day at work – big project today that has been causing me and many of my coworkers some stress. Will all turn out well, but we'll all be super excited when it's over. And speaking of which, this evening my friend Nicole and I are going to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at the 9:30 Club. I think this is my fifth or sixth time seeing her, and I know it will be a fun time. Just what I need after a hectic day, some girl time with Nicole (and Grace!), a couple cocktails, and some strength from Keef!

  1. Alison–I will be 38 in February. I work for a university and I am surrounding my youngsters all day. In addition to that, I’m a crazy-busy working mum of 2 (under the age of 12). It’s way too easy to forget about myself and neglect my personal style. I just wanted to say that I’ve been following your blog for the past 6 months or so. With your help, I’ve updated some of my basic staples and thought about what suits me, what doesn’t; what I love, what I loathe. I’ve had several people (including students) comment to me that I look like I’ve lost weight and they like my “style”. Wow! Suddenly, I don’t feel like “frump girl” but a sassy, professional, hip woman/wife/mother. Thank you so much for inspiring us. You’re amazing!!!

  2. I agree with everybody else. While I love your skirts and dresses a lot, I’m way into this look, and it looks great on YOU. The glasses are fab!

  3. This look is so chic! Good idea cutting the neck of the t-shirt! It makes me want to go look at some of my old t-shirts and cut them up!
