I bought this dress several months ago, in fact after journaling my wardrobe and writing this post about it. However, I never featured it on the blog until now. A dress like this isn't good for the office, but especially as I have gotten older I enjoy dressing up for social occasions and have worn this dress to concerts, parties at friends' houses, and even dinner with Karl.  The most recent time I pulled this dress from my closet I realized it's the same rusty orange color as this faux fur stole/scarf/thingie I purchased at H&M many moons ago (previously seen here) and just had to pair the two!

  1. I follow your blog regularly and love your fashion posts and your style. However, this particular post is Breath taking! Have you looked at these photos. You look like a REAL life movie star! The snow, your hair, the dress and that FUR!!! OMG! You are beautiful.

  2. I really like this dress. It looks better on you than it does on the model on the MK site. On a non-curvy lady it looks kind of dowdy and boring, but on a curvy lady it is flattering and dramatic. The snowy setting definitely helps with the drama!

  3. And so it was that Snow Queen Alison ruled her forest subjects with wisdom, compassion, and generosity. All hail Queen Alison! Long live the Queen!

  5. already commented on facebook, but wanted to add here that i absolutely love that there is a fantasy element to this shoot/outfit. we both work in the world of practical, everyday style so it’s just like such a breath of fresh air to see you in something that feels totally ethereal andalmost not even of this world. LOVE!

  7. How many dresses does a woman get to have that make her look magnificent! Of course you wear it for all sorts of occasions! This looks like a fantasy shoot!

  8. This dress is totally not my style, but it looks amazing on you! It is so funny to me sometimes that I’ve been reading your blog for the past couple of years even though we have very little in common…yet I still enjoy reading and still receive inspiration! Keep up the good work!
