After my H&M post the other week I've had hats on the brain (har har).  So when we had a sunny weekend I whipped out my decades-old Panama to keep the sun at bay as I ran all around town.  If you follow me on Snapchat you know this Boden dress recently arrived in the mail.  I love dresses like this for easy one-step dressing.  I can glam it up with some wedge sandals for work, but for the weekend can style it with sneakers or flat sandals.  The only issue I have found with this dress is the bottom snap will unsnap if you squat down to greet an adorable puppy who passes you on the sidewalk.  The rest of the snaps are quite sturdy and no gaping between them.  This is one of the few long-sleeved dresses I've gotten where I like it with the sleeves down.  I wore them down on a cooler day but this day was so warm I hiked them up.  The fabric is soft, like a hybrid between denim and chambray which will be comfortable even as the temps continue to rise.

  1. Love that dress! Went straight off to the website to see if they have them in the UK. I’m looking for a chambray/ denim shirt and would also like a knee-length dress. My issue is that I have bigger arms but want it fitting around my midsection (and I don’t want the bother and cost of going up a size and getting in tailored).

  2. You are really selling me on this dress! I normally struggle with shirt dresses as my bust is disproportionate to my waist, so anything that fits up top then looks really dumpy on the bottom half… but this one has a really nice shape to it! Is it elasticated around the back? Or just well cut?

  3. I like the detailing on the dress, in particular the waist band and pockets. It looks sharp yet comfy, and you don’t look like you’re wearing your boyfriend’s shirt after a sleepover, so to speak. 😉

  4. You look so chic! I love your evaluations of current style choices, Allison. The newest Talbot catalog looks interesting…humm, would you give us, your warmer tone fans, your excellent critique ?

    Thank you,
    A faithful fan,
    Pat

    1. I got the Talbots summer catalog today. I am afraid I didn’t see too many warm color options. Everything was blue white and pink :-(.

    2. I haven’t even looked at the catalog! I should, I did get in the habit of instantly recycling catalogs when they arrive and cancelling them but I looked at the recent J. Crew and was so inspired. I’ll dig through and see if it’s still in my recycling bin!
