What a busy, long weekend! I was looking forward to some time to chill, but other than a much-needed two-hour nap on Saturday, I really didn't get much rest. However, I had some pretty exciting things take place – posts on it soon!  But this meant that I chose to sleep in this morning instead of figuring out an outfit.  This is pretty much what I wear on a weekend when puttering around the house, taking Emerson to the playground, maybe going to the grocery store.  I prefer to dress up more for work, but I also prefer to have a few brain cells working at the office, so I chose function over fashion today!

I don't believe I have worn these shoes yet on the blog, but gosh do I adore them. They have a wooden wedge of that perfect height that elongates the leg but is really wearable all day. I love them with pants and jeans, but they also look so cute with skirts and dresses. The bright citrus orange color of the Lillybee Martina is perfect for spring and summer and is an unexpected neutral for most colors in my wardrobe. I love the look of the braided suede straps and know these shoes will be getting a lot of wear over the next few months!

  1. The bag was purchased a few months ago, so no longer online. If the item is available online I will always link to it. If not I try to find an alternative at a similar pricepoint. I bought this on clearance before Christmas… you may be able to find one at a Nordstrom Rack store (I know Rack doesn’t have them online either). Good luck! 🙂

  2. did you get that bag in store?  cause i can’t find it at nordstrom.com.  i’ve been looking for a yellow tote just like that!

  4. Oops, just read about the cost of the shoes in the comments by Cynthia. BUT, when you put c/o, doesn’t that mean they were a gift?

  5. You actually look really fabulous here. I just love the casual look but it’s so crisp, clean, and tailored. I like your hair with the sideswept bangs too. Also, great shoes, but the price tag! It looks like they were gifted to you, no?

  7. I suppose that I need to keep rethinking the term “neutral” – after all, I wear my red shoes and leopard shoes with tons of things that I wouldn’t have thought would work. And I never would have considered leopard to be a neutral before I started reading your blog either!

Now, I just need to get brave enough to color block with my red pants – I did a white with black polka dots shirt today, but I was really tempted to go with bright orange.

  8. Hooray! You go girl with your red pants and your fabulous size 8 self!! 🙂
And I know orange seems so crazy for a pricy pair of shoes, but I have worn these more so far this season than my similarly-styled tan shoes. They just look so fun and lush, and work with unexpected colors like pink, olive, navy… as well as denim and neutrals. I almost bought a pair of yellow sandals this summer for the same reason – color can really jazz up an otherwise basic ensemble!

  9. I love the shoes, but don’t know that I’d drop that much on a pair of orange shoes. They do look much more comfortable than my insanely high-heeled 9 West orange peep toes though.

You did inspire me when I was out shopping this weekend – I’ve been looking for a pair of red pants for a few months now and was convinced that I needed at boot cut to balance out my top half. However, inspired by your foray into slimmer cut pants, I decided to take a chance at Macy’s and try on a slim cut pant. Boy, am I glad that I did – I finally have my red pants and I think that I’m finally starting to wrap my head around the fact that I’m a size 8 now and don’t need a wider leg trouser to balance out my hips.

  11. I love those shoes too!  I have a slightly wider than average foot and take a 6.5 – what would be your advice on sizing – to go 36 or 37?
