Wish I had my camera for the outfit is tres cute today! Hair was washed and conditioned, a bit of Pureology’s blow-dry amplifier and then some Got2B curling mousse added. Dried with a diffuser (got a cheapo Conair that folds up that was $12, I couldn’t hold out any longer and this was all I could afford) and then hit the crunchy mall-hair pieces with a curling iron. Finger combed it to relax the curl. Very big but messy/beachy/fun looking.

Nude cami from The Limited, my ivory lace shirt with the ivory satin ribbon belt that is from Banana Republic Outlet, my new fave jeans, black booties from Sudini, silver and crystal necklace from Ann Taylor Loft, silver cuff and hoops, put on my orange crinkle scarf for warmth but left it on with the outfit.

The new jeans are…. The Essential Jean from The Gap! I originally purchased a regular and they were too big everywhere, but a petite is a length that works with a flat to a mid-height heel (like my leather booties and my summer sandals). I got the darkest color – they are wide like a denim trouser, but with classic jeans pockets, fabric weight and stylings. There’s some lycra so they are comfy and seem to keep their shape and not a hint of gaping at the waistband! I plan on ironing a crease in them the next time I wear them and am considering a lighter pair to distress for the summer. So happy about these as that The Flirt bootcut jeans from Old Navy have stretched out to the point that I can take them right from the dryer and still be able to pull them up without having to unbutton them. The Essential Jeans is also dressier of a cut so I feel more comfortable sporting them at work.

The weather is nicer today, the phones are working so no mad dash to another office for our meeting, I have a lunch date on Thursday with a dear friend I haven’t seen in a while, and I am finally getting out from under the pile of paperwork on my desk! It’s a good day!

  1. I went to the Gap in January to try the Long and Lean jeans that Oprah raved about (I am built like you). I liked them okay, and was about to buy them when I saw the Essential jeans. I tried them on, and I was so excited! I am hooked on my Essential jeans now! Love love love them! My only complaint is that the hem turns up after a washing, and I have to iron it back down. But that is a small price to pay for great-fitting, every-occasion jeans!

  2. I am in LOVE with the Essential jean, I also just got my mom hooked on them! They’re the perfect jean for EVERYTHING… spread the good word Allie!

  3. I am so thrilled for you ALlie that you got a great pair of fitting jeans.

By the way I am excited to see this skirt at the Gap from an email I got this week. Especially great for the bloated time every month. http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=39604&pid=558964&scid=558964032

I also love that it is knee length and more modest and not super short along with it not sticking to the legs.

By the way love the matte jersey dress. That color looks great on you! There are so many clothes that you wear that the color looks so stunning. It’s so great when I get compliments on a certain color I am wearing then I tend to stick with that color range.

    Have a nice day!

  4. When are Gap/BR going to start shipping to the UK?! I know we have both stores here but they don’t carry the tall lengths and the Long length is too short for me. Plus we don’t have the range in the UK that you have in the US. Those jeans are perfect and I can see why they are your new favourites. Roll on the new camera arriving so we can see you wearing the jeans!

  5. Yay, glad they worked for you too! I have the biggest thighs and quads and hamstrings and knees and calves… my legs are major tree trunks and were even when I was a size 4. Most jeans are skin-tight on my upper legs and these hang loose enough that the girth seems to be the trousers, not my legs. And at 5:37, they still fit great and look great – no ugly creases int he crotch or baggy waistband! Hooray! Now let’s hope they handle the washer and dryer!

  6. That is so weird…I just bought those jeans this last weekend! I(like most women) hate jeans shopping; apparently, my thighs are to big, because it’s absolutely amazing if I can find jeans that fit both my waist and thigh area! These didn’t feel too tight in the thighs at all! I’m excited to wear them! First pair of Gap jeans that I’ve bought in a decade! BTW, love your blog!

  7. Ooh the Essential Jean! I discovered those for myself about a month ago and I’m loving them. I even went back and bought several extra pairs to keep in my closet since Gap seems to be so fond of discontinuing styles once I find one I like. Isn’t that style great though? Your outfit sounds cute, as always. 🙂

  8. Sounds like you look quite cute today You will take photo of this outfit when you get your camera? I hate I missed your “big hair”. I want to see these jeans! And the orange scarf sounds nice. Good job.
