Picture 003Picture 008Well now all you know what I got for the Ann Taylor Friends & Family! I got this dress (which was on sale already), the white wrap shirt and black pants from yesterday, and a 3/4 sleeve black wrap shirt that hasn't yet been worn. I also got white jeans but returned them (the 12 was too big everywhere, the 12 Petite barely covered my pelvic region). From Ann Taylor Loft I purchased the ponte skirt from the other day (sale), two things that were promptly returned, and two pieces of jewelry that were missing from my box when it arrived on Wednesday.

I called up Ann Taylor yesterday to tell them about the missing pieces and I had one of the nicest customer service experiences ever! The woman I spoke to had a very friendly, natural voice. She apologized about the missing pieces and within 10 minutes had credited my account, reordered the pieces and the Friends & Family discount, and even gave me free next-day shipping because of my trouble. Oh, and we chatted about the new collection and what we both love while waiting for everything to process. How awesome is that? Such a simple and pleasant experience.

Why the clutch purse? I have a wedding immediately after work. I will be leaving a touch early and racing to Maryland for the wedding of my husband’s best friend’s little sister (who over the years has become a dear friend to us). Should be a fun evening!

The rest of the weekend… tomorrow and Sunday have yoga (the hubby is co-leading a yoga class on Sundays now outdoors at a nearby park) and Sunday we have my husband’s grandmother’s birthday AND the first birthday of a good friend’s son. Saturday is still up in the air… hope all of you have a great weekend!

  1. I love anything with a black and white print. Especially on women with darker hair. Great job on the deal on that dress!

  2. Hey Linda!

I have used many many brands, but over the years the only two I have liked are by L’Oreal and Maybelline. I have been using Maybelline’s UltraLiner for YEARS – it is a brush and I seem to get pretty good control with it. The brush is thicker than the one for L’Oreal, but I seem to be able to create a thick or thin line pretty well. It’s thick, shiny, waterproof but flexible (doesn’t crack). Oh, it’s also cheap as heck. Dunno if you can find it in Canada, if not let me know and I’d be happy to mail you a bottle! 🙂

  3. Allie!
Looking purty as ever! Love the dress…

I have a makeup question for you. Though you don’t strike me as the liquid liner type, I’ll ask anyway since I am that type – haha.

My liquid liner is apparently being discontinued. This is my worst makeup nightmare! I don’t like felt tip pens applicators. Any suggestions? If no, that’s okay…I’ll be on the lookout at my nearest makeup counter!

  4. Im in love with that dress! I spent a lot of money in Ann Taylor Loft yesterday and for that reason, skipped going into Ann Taylor…now I think I might need to run over there! (I live 3 blocks from AT and theres a White House/Black Market opening up in the next few days a mere 2 blocks from my condo! Save me!)

You always look so pretty and polished. We have similar taste. Have a great weekend 🙂

  5. Allie, you look fabulous my dear. The dress is awesome. Makeup does look especially good today. I like the lipstick. I’m very happy to see that you have lowered your degrees on your Croc.I hope you enjoy your weekend, it sounds fun.

  6. Ya’ll are too kind! I felt super sassy until I walked 8 blocks to meet a friend for lunch and then 8 blocks back. Hair is a bit feathered, feeling a bit steamy and the dreaded chafing (oh and 4″ heels? Ack!)… luckily my desk goes to the floor in front so I am barefoot, feet propped up on the computer tower cooling off 🙂 That’s why I brought concealer, hairspray and a comb for an end-of-day touchup! 🙂

  7. That dress rocks! Thank god my office window does not face Ann Taylor. I totally would have been down there by now to buy the new collection once I saw it in the window.

  8. Your hair looks great (as does the rest of you)! Doesn’t look at all like you need an appointment!

  9. Well, for the black wrap shirt I have from AT, I did dry clean but sometimes it got pressed weird. I washed it on the gentle cycle, hung it to dry, did a bit of ironing (cuffs, collar, ties) and it seemed to work well. Problem is this white one is a bit silkier and I fear a tumble int he machine will make it look like a washrag. I may send it to the cleaners and ask to have it cleaned like a man’s shirt – actually laundered and not dry cleaned. I’ll let you all know how it goes. Yesterday I survived without a single spill (go me!) so I can get by with a second wearing before hitting the cleaners.
