Alison 154Alison 158Dude, my hair looked SOOOO much better after walking to work. Seriously, I went in the bathroom and was utterly impressed by my ‘do. But this picture looks eh.

So I went shopping in my mom's closet on Thanksgiving. This top is from I think 2005 Banana Republic; my sister and I conned my mom into buying it, thinking it was sassy and would be cute with black pants. I think she wore it once because the tags weren't on it, but not much more than that. So ivory and black print tie-neck chiffon layered top from Banana Republic with my missing pair of black pants! I thought I had lost these wool-blend coin-pocket trousers from Ann Taylor Loft ('06) and then found them in the cedar chest where I store my husband's sweaters. Hooray! Black city boots by Impo, silver hoops and cuff.

Hair was washed and conditioned, a bit of Sexy Straight Hair's Shine On! while wet, blew it dry with a paddle brush first, then a round brush for smoothness. I used the curling iron a bit to straighten with a touch of flip at the bottom. Then some Matrix Sleek water-free shine spray to hold it in place. And in place it stayed, through all the wind today!

Makeup is philosophy's The Supernatural in Beige, Nars blush in Orgasm, Pop Beauty's shadow set for brown eyes – the dark and light khakis blended over the whole lid. Two coats of DiorShow on curled lashes and Maybelline UltraLiner in black on top lash line. On lips is Revlon ColorStay Sheer Lipcolor in Sheer Plum.

  1. I am not saying anything new here–just want to reiterate, I love that blouse on you. I have not always been a print lover. Sometimes, prints can be so memorable that people remember the last time you wore it and it is not as friendly to a minimalist closet. Rules are made to be broken–and if I had access to that top–I would break my print rules. You look great. You also have that new job in the city glow. You wear it well.

  2. that outfit looks AMAZING on you! I am having a very happy fashion day myself…wearing a croc print brown pleather skirt from Lane Bryant that I haven’t fit into since 2000!!!! with a black sweater, opaque black tights, and black ankle boots with wood grain platform and four inch heel.

  3. Oooh, this outfit is very flattering (you’ve convinced me – I WILL be looking for pants at The Loft soon!!) and looks so chic. As for the hair – as soon as I saw the photo my first thought was ‘great hair day Allie’ and what do you know… You said so yourself! =) Smokin!
