I guess it pays to shop a lot at the same retailer! This outfit came together by chance – my husband did laundry and hung this tee up instead of folding in the drawer. When on the rail next to this skirt, I realized they were the same coral, just different intensities. When in my drawer, I always saw it more as a red shirt and wore it as such. Since they are both Ann Taylor, it makes sense that they are the same tone!

I have become a bit of a form of entertainment in the court each morning with these photos – Emerson and her friend wanted to join in the fun and who could say no to such cuties?

  1.  I know what you mean – the only one left was a smaller size than I usually wear and I didn’t expect it to fit.  Sizing really is one big guessing game!

  2. That skirt is on sale at our AT for $29.99!  I almost bought it – but they didn’t have a petite and the regular was a little long.  I don’t know how easy it is to hem pleats.  I DID buy “your” long pink skirt and I see why it makes you so happy!  No one wears it like you do, but I’ll have to say it makes me feel like Ginger Rogers!  They had a pink and white lace trimmed sleeveless top on sale that I bought to go with it.  I plan to try the looks you’ve posted.  Also, I think I’ll do my Spring 2012 CAbi jean jacket and some “cowgirl” boots with it for fall.  You know what “they” say – “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”  I never would have tried that skirt on if I had not seen it on you.  So much fun!   Sincerely, “The Copy Cat”  🙂

  4. I love that color on you and it’s so cute when the kids join in on the photo sessions.

I think that I need to pull some things out of the closet and put them next to each other in the light so I can mix my wardrobe up more – I tend to wear the same tops and bottoms together all the time.

  6. Loft sizing is crazy – I seems like the bottoms run huge, but the top of things are often small. And it’s NOT because I have a large bust because I don’t – although my back is kind of broad. I just know that structured dresses from Loft can simultaneously be tight on top and huge at the hip and I’m really built pretty proportionately.

Ann Taylor definitely hasn’t succumbed to vanity sizing as much as some other brands because I do find their stuff to be more in line with what my “true” size should be – but the stuff that I buy from them tends to be pretty tailored, so maybe that’s just me. I find them to be pretty in line with Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren and J.Crew though because I’m the same size in all those lines.

  7. When I saw the little girl, I was thinking, “Oh, how cute. I wonder where HER BABY is?”!!!!

Because that lovely little lady can’t possibly be the kid who was just a baby 5 minutes ago, could it????

Oh she’s getting so big and sooooo cute and i obviously need to take more note of the passing of time!

  9. I love when the laundry makes outfits for me – happens more than people would think! This is such a fresh and summery outfit – just looking at that skirt makes me want to twirl! Love your posse in the last photo!

  11. I want that skirt sooo badly but Anne Taylor doesn’t exist in Canada.  I’ve looked everywhere for a replica and nothing.

  13. Good idea.  I have bought things at Talbots before. I just don’t feel as pulled together as you look. I enjoy reading your blog!

  14. This tee is a Large regular because their petite tops are usually too small for me. The skirt is a 12 Petite and I find I am pretty standard as a 12 Petite at Ann Taylor and other retailers too. I do find LOFT to run small in some things and huge in others and rarely shop there because of that. I hope Ann Taylor doesn’t go in the same direction. Have you checked out Talbots recently? They have a broad range of sizes, are consistent with their sizing, and have really chic and fun clothing these days that isn’t too young and not at all matronly.

  15. Can I ask what size you wear?  I usually wear a size 14 and find the things at Ann Taylor run rather small. Do you find that as well? I am 46 too and don’t want to dress too young.  I teach kindergarten and want to look professional in the workplace. Any ideas?

  17. So pretty!
I’m sensitive somehow to colours, and it’s such a delight to always see you in all colours and combinations that look so great on you!
