A couple weekends ago I attended the Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival in our town center.  Live music from 11am into the evening, they had drums and other instruments for the attendees to use, craft and music projects for kids, face painting, vendors, food, and much more (such as a young woman on stilts behind me in the photos!).  One of the things I love so much about living in Greenbelt is festivals like this; we can walk down and are sure to bump into plenty of friends and neighbors.  Even the mayor of Greenbelt was part of a drum circle!  Emerson had her face painted as a tiger and I bought the earrings I'm wearing from one of the vendors.

I was on Emerson detail (Karl was hired to photograph the event) and wanted to be comfortable and ready for a long day away from home.  I bought these boots last year and swore I'd return them… and never did.  They ended up being a favorite in the closet; while they're not the most flattering with my thicker legs, I love the biker vibe and how I can wear them all day with comfort.  The NYDJ jeans are comfortable and keep their shape after many hours of sitting, squatting, walking, dancing, and racing to the center of the drum circle when Bele Bele goes into a rendition of Sardines.  I wanted to show town spirit with my tee (I cut the sleeves and neck), and  this sweater was perfect to wear in the shade or tie around my waist when it was warm.  This bag was such a good purchase; I love how it fits my personal style and looks stylish while being a workhorse.  I tied Emerson's denim jacket to it when she was warm, filled it with random art projects Emerson made, and had room for all my purse essentials plus a couple snacks!

  1. I can’t thank you enough for the link to Bele Bele Rhythm Infusion. What an amazing woman Kristen Arant is! Oh, and I love this outfit.
When you cut a t-shirt do you finish the cut edge, or just leave it raw? I don’t wear tees because the neck is always too confining and uncomfortable, but there are some t-shirt graphics I adore and wish I could make mine.

  2. Do you have any comments on the sizing for those LL Bean boots? I’ve been looking at that exact pair and some reviews say they run a full size large. Did you order your regular size, or size down? Thanks!

    1. I wear an 8 and purchased an 8. They are super roomy, but they don’t slip. I like that I can wear thick socks with no problem, and even slip in insoles. But I’ve also worn them with thin socks and they’re roomy, but arch support in the right place and no slipping or sliding.

  3. It’s amazing how you manage to do so much and look great while you’re doing it. If I lived near you and you didn’t look fabulous, I would be worried. I’d figure you were ill or depressed and I would want to help.
