If you follow me on Instagram Stories you know last week my family and I had a short vacation at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. Only open a few months, this new hotel is gorgeous, luxe yet warm, and has everything for a perfect little getaway or if you've visiting the area for an event. I'll be sharing more about our trip in a coming post; this post is about what I wore for travel.

I knew we'd be in the car and likely do some sightseeing as soon as we arrived. The weather was typical spring in the DC area – windy, slightly chilly, and a chance for sprinkles. I picked up this coat from Banana Republic a couple years ago (see it in this outfit post). It hardly fit when I bought it and soon after was too small. I am excited that it fits again, I love the color and that it's truly water-resistant. It's practical but also stylish!

With it I kept things classic and comfortable – these jeans are super stretchy and keep their shape. I wore them on the train to NYC and loved how they didn't bag out from such a crazy day. The waist can stretch so under the top I have a Beltway to keep them from sagging. The striped top is a new addition to the wardrobe; I'm usually not one for cutesy details or honestly any details on my striped shirts but the heart appliqué doesn't bother me. I think it adds without being too much.

Rothy's flats are a given when I want to look cute but also be comfortable. While these shoes don't have any arch support, I can walk around in them for hours without rubbing, hot spots, or aches. I love that they're made from recycled water bottles, are machine washable, and small enough to tuck in a bag to have to change into after a couple hours in heels. This is my second pair, I also have them in the red camo print.

I reviewed this backpack in this blog post; I do seriously use it all the time. That plus my International-sized spinner from Delsey were enough for three days that had a mix of sightseeing, swimming, working out, dinners at relaxed and nice places, all with a bit of chilly weather. In there is all those clothes and shoes, plus toiletries, makeup, purse basics, and work basics (laptop, cords-o-plenty, camera, journal).
