My Husband Wanted to Write This Caraway Bakeware Review (He’s a Fan)
When my daughter was born in 2009, I became the stay at home parent. While I knew how to cook basics, I hadn't previously been the primary one making the meals. Having a child not only changed that but changed my priorities on nutrition and food quality. I slowly became a self taught cook and now consider myself a homecook with a fairly broad repertoire.
I enjoy baking but did not pay much attention to the materials that my cookware and utensils were made out of. Alison and I merged our apartment contents when we moved in together, adding with our wedding registry and the occasional purchase from the Target down the street. As my awareness of the harm of forever chemicals increased, my search for healthy kitchen items became a priority.
Over time, I have been able to replace all our black plastic and Teflon utensils and cookware, switching to wood, metal, and cast iron. I even replaced our Vitamix pitcher with a stainless option. These materials are not cheap, and we have a small galley kitchen so I have become accustomed to making do with fewer tools. I was hesitant when Alison asked me if I wanted to try out and so a Caraway bakeware review. Would it really be worth it to add more stuff to our small space?

Caraway Bakeware Review
I did some research on Caraway Home. Jordan Nathan accidentally overheated a non-stick PTFE (aka Teflon®) coated pan and got sick with Teflon® Flu. After looking into the problem, he found that it only took 2.5 minutes for Teflon® coated pans to heat to 500ºF and begin releasing toxic chemicals. In 2019 Nathan founded Caraway with stovetop cookware free of chemicals with naturally nonstick surfaces. Caraway Home now carries bakeware, food storage, kitchen tools, and more all focusing on a healthier and more sustainable option.
Caraway offered Wardrobe Oxygen a gift of one of its sets through ShopMy. There were no required deliverables or contracted content and we could pick our choice of product. I have built a good collection of stainless and cast iron cookware, but our bakeware collection was inherited grocery store muffin tins, wobbly cookie sheets, and perma-crusted Pyrex dishes. I never had baked with anything else and was intrigued. I suggested to Alison that we review the Caraway Bakeware set in the Slate color which matched our air fryer and complemented our plum-colored kitchen.
I am very thankful I agreed to review the Caraway bakeware set because it has inspired me to bake more. It is less intimidating, cleanup is easier, and it is, in the words of my teenager, “satisfying,” to see every dish slip easily out of the Caraway bakeware.
Who Wrote this Caraway Bakeware Review?
For those who do not know me, I’m Karl, Alison’s husband. I have been behind the scenes of Wardrobe Oxygen for over 20 years as a silent collaborator and photographer. I have only done one other review and that was for our Cumulus Iced coffee machine. I use the bakeware from Caraway just as much as the iced coffee machine and I feel compelled to share this healthy, and convenient product with you because I love it that much.

What I Like About the Caraway Bakeware Set
I love how there is no wrestling with or prying of the food when removing my baked items from the pan and the edges have always been golden brown. No need for oil or another product to prevent sticking; clean up is a breeze with a soft sponge or cloth. Even when dishes have bubbled over, I have not had to scrub the Caraway bakeware to get it perfectly clean again.

I also find that the Caraway bakeware bakes very evenly; far better than our metal pans. I haven't experienced burned muffin bottoms or brownies that are still soggy in the middle but overly done on the edges.
I was buying spray non stick oils or when more appropriate, using butter when making muffins, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, or any traditional baked home goods that stick to my pans. Even so, I had to soak the pans and then scrub to get them clean after cooking and baking. I have used Caraway's bakeware several times every week for almost two months and am a convert.

Caraway's Storage Containers Review

The storage organizers are one of the features that absolutely makes this set the most impressive to me. It is so nice to be able to find the pan you are looking for and to not have to dig through stacks of pans when you are already short on time.

We don't have a large kitchen, but the organizers fit into one side of the over-fridge cabinet and keep all the pieces stacked vertically and from being scratched. We recently hosted 20 family members for Thanksgiving and when Alison asked my cousin’s tall husband to grab the baking sheet for the rolls, he mentioned how impressed he was with the storage organizer and the quality of the pans. He, like us, love the magnetic opening to slide the pieces out like books off a shelf.

What Makes Caraway Home Bakeware Different
The non-toxic nonstick ceramic coating is free from PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, and cadmium. That being said, for such a finish and contents, this is bakeware that needs more TLC than traditional metal pans. The key to keeping Caraway bakeware looking and performing great is treating it well.

How to Care for Caraway Bakeware
I only use silicone or wood utensils in it, never metal. If I leave a piece of Caraway in the sink to wash later, I make sure nothing metal or sharp ends up in it to scratch the surface. I also never use it with heat higher than 550°F.
I also do not put my Caraway pieces in the dishwasher. But there is no need because they clean so easily with a soft cloth or sponge and basic dish soap. I haven't seen any issue yet with chipping or scratching or staining, but I am very careful with my cookware for I do not wish to have to replace it.

For this sort of finish, I think it makes the most sense for bakeware. I don't think a pan my whole family uses for eggs and reheating pizza slices would be as easy to maintain and wonder if that is the reason why I had read so many negative reviews. Because after over two months of regular use including a hectic hosting of 20 folks for Thanksgiving, I am still a big fan of this Caraway bakeware set.

While we did receive this Caraway bakeware set for free, we were under no obligation to write a review. I have been sharing my baking adventures with Caraway on my Instagram with Alison often sharing my Stories. I wanted to show that I truly used these pieces often and truly had a positive experience every time.

I appreciate this review. This company recently became a sponsor on Chewed Up You Tube show with Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall and Michael Simon. They are singing the cookware’s excellence. Thank you for sharing your experience. It just made it to my Christmas list!
