When Karl and I got married, our wedding color was orange (with hot pink accents).  We had a signature cocktail at the wedding reception, an Orange Crush.  Considering I'm wearing an orange cocktail dress in today's blog post I felt Orange Crush was a fitting title.  Orange is my favorite color, and I think it's such a fun color to wear.  However, orange is usually left to casual and athletic attire.  That's why I was so excited for this orange cocktail dress from Ava James NYC!  And what do I love as much as orange?  Well, leopard print of course!

Ava James NYC specializes in elegant dresses only in sizes 12-18. They were kind enough to send me this cocktail dress and I have to say it's one of the highest quality dresses I own.  Fully lined in a silky fabric the exact same color as the dress, a strap in back the perfect height to cover a traditional bra, seaming to fit and flatter, it's a gorgeous cocktail dress and in my favorite color!

stylish wide width dress shoes

It's hard to find dressy shoes when you have wide feet.  Nina is a brand that usually has stylish formal shoes in a variety of widths, and the shoes are also comfortable.  I bought these shoes several years ago and they have been good to me.  The soft champagne color works with most any outfit and is low contrast with my skin, elongating the leg line and not detracting from my dress.  The ankle strap and relatively low heel makes them great for dancing and standing all night long.

Long-time blog readers may recognize this coat from this blog post or this blog post.  Sadly, the coat stopped fitting me but I loved it so much I couldn't part with it.  With the changing of the seasons, I pulled it out of storage and was thrilled to find it fits again!  It has always been a favorite as a dress coat for fall and early winter, and I am glad to again have it in rotation.  I love leopard print because it's a neutral and such a beautiful accent to colorful dresses!

  1. WOW! You look great in the dress, the coat and the shoes. Since it’s your favorite color, I hope you find lots more that is not Halloween or autumn themed. The pink and orange color theme of your wedding sounds unique and happy.
