Gift Guide for High School Grads (Curated by Teens & Moms)
While my teen has one more year of high school under her belt, we have been spending a lot of time looking at colleges and preparing for high school graduation. We've also been looking for gifts for high school grads that are her friends and family. I know if we're looking for graduation gifts, you all may be as well so I wanted to pull together a list of gifts that are sure to please in 2026.
This list is teen-approved by my teen and her friends as well as me and other moms. This gift guide for high school grads is fresh for 2026 with what is considered cool this year. No cheesy gifts, and no random items just trying to get a commission from Amazon (seriously, learn how these websites make money off you). All these items are vetted by me, a mom and professional shopper and retail researcher, most are unique and not found on any other gift guide.
While this gift guide is geared towards the grad, this can also be inspiration for holiday or birthday gifts for the older teen in your life.

With any graduate, the most welcome gift is cash (and the second most welcome is a Visa gift card). But I know not everyone is looking to give such a gift or has the desire to provide something tangible and memorable to the graduate in their life. I hope this gift guide for high school grads gives you some inspiration!
I know this doesn't matter to everyone, but this is an Amazon- and Target-free gift guide. You may be able to find these items at those shopping sites, but I found just as or better items for the same price and they are sure to please and arrive in time for that grad party!
One of my favorite gifts to give to grads as well as for bridal and baby showers is the XL Lands' End canvas tote personalized with a name or monogram. Alone it's great and will be used for laundry, trips home, beach vacations, even storage. But it's also a great holder for dorm supplies! Fill it with towels, snacks, sheets, a shower caddy, toilitires, and more. This makes a great group gift, too. I was given a Lands' End tote for a graduation gift and decades later I still have and use it!
Every college student will appreciate a pair of over the ear noise-cancelling headphones. For studying in the dorm to walking across campus, these are stellar highly-rated headphones that are comfortable, cool looking, and come in a range of great colors.
When my sister moved out, I bought her one of these as I would no longer be there to help her get the spider out of the shower or the cricket in the corner. Best money ever spent. While this gift will get plenty of laughs, it will also be oh-so appreciated when the time comes for the bug-fearful grad.
Use it to wrap up a gift card, and then let them use it to store makeup, writing supplies, and more. From ‘Bama to Syracuse, each original design on these pouches is woven (not printed) on a handy, 100% cotton, zippered carryall. Because each alma mater is much more than a logo or school colors, the designs were hand drawn with collaborative input from passionate alumni, fans, faculty, and locals.
A no-bullsh*t bible for the modern adult. Packed with tips, strategies, and hundreds of real-life examples of adulting wisely and well, Grow the F*ck Up is the perfect read for anyone--at any age--looking to become more independent, resourceful, and self-sufficient, and have lots of fun along the way.
The Camp Snap CS-8 is a digital video camera inspired by the iconic Super 8 but reimagined for today. With no playback screen and no instant previews, the CS-8 brings back the magic of filmmaking where you stay in the moment and experience the surprise later. And I have to say, this camera is so popular with older teens. They can film their graduation activities, their last summer before college, and take it with them to capture moments from their first year at college.
It’s rechargeable, reusable, well-made and looks super cool. Comes in a great box easy to wrap up and impress at the grad party.
Only 5" wide, this coffee maker makes both hot and cold pour-over coffee. Using Keurig K-cups, this is convienent and comes in a range of colors sure to please your high school grad and their dormmate!
The backpack worn by celebrities and star athletes, the Dagne Dover Dakota backpack is brilliantly designed, lightweight, but durable enough to survive their entire college career and then some. The large size holds up to a 16" laptop plus room for all essentials incuding water and even shoes for the gym. It's also a great carry-on bag for flights. A range of colors to represent their college or their personal style!
Put school pride front and center with this glass that showcases a college's unique cheer or chant in team colors. These can-shaped glasses are designed and decorated in Brooklyn on glass made here in the USA.
Luggage, laptop bag, purse, or bike... an AirTag makes sense as a high school graduation gift. You can get a four-pack, or even one in an attractive holder makes a thoughtful gift.
If looking for an AirTag holder, check out Maison de Sabre, Otterbox, and PoshTech.
Your grad can continue to make their smoothies and preworkouts and have it easy and on the go with the Ninja BlendBoss™. Available in a range of colors, One-Touch Auto-iQ® programs unlock ice-crushing, powerful blending without guesswork. It includes a 26 oz. handled leakproof tumbler to take blends on the go in one simple step. The integrated chug lid lets one sip directly from the vessel or use the optional straw accessory.
Perfect for college students, this durable bag can be customized with your name or initials for free. Choose from a list of embroidery monogram or name styles and colors.
From Auburn to Ole Miss, the colors, mascots, landmarks, and stadiums of each school come to life in a pillow-scape collage worthy of the storied traditions of your grad's school. A great way to dress up the dorm room, or even gift to mom or dad.
Whether they're off to the dorms or getting their own place, they will appreciate funds for meals. A gift card can be credited to their account so it's ready to be used for late-night munchies or when there's no time to hit the dining hall during finals.
College students facing their first illness, accident, or anxiety away from home often flip-flop between wanting to handle it themselves and wishing their parents could swoop in and fix everything. Advice from peers and “Dr. Google” can be questionable. The Ultimate College Student Health Handbook provides accurate, trustworthy, evidence-based medical information (served with a dose of humor) to reduce anxiety and stress and help set appropriate expectations for more than fifty common issues. Recommended by physicians and parents alike.
This 9-piece set has everything one needs to hang pictures or curtains, put together a bookcase, repair furniture, measure a space, take apart or put together most anything in a sleek case available in modern, cool colors.
For a smaller yet equally functional toolkit, this portable collection of handy tools will keep your graduate's life in good repair. Pliers, hammer, screwdriver, flashlight, socket wrench, and more at the ready for whatever repairs are necessary.
It's an icon, and it's the kind of bag your grad will have for decades to come. Carting home laundry, packing up to return to campus, backpacking around Europe, spending a summer abroad... this will be the bag they take. It can handle baggage claim and a trip cross-country and look just as cool 20 years from now. While there are many sizes to choose from, the XL is the size that will be really useful for the most of their life.
I own this toothbrush and love it. Made from stainless steel instead of plastic, it is more durable. The UV case keeps it sanitized and protected. The brush heads are plant-based and recycleable and you can sign your grad up for a subscription program so they never are without. It comes in a bunch of fun colors, keeps a charge for a month, and my dentist thinks it works better than my old Sonicare.
Its not the kind of gift that will get oohs and aahs but it is the kind that can help keep your loved one safe. With the simple touch of a button, the Sabre clip-on device will emit a loud, attention-grabbing alarm which can deter attackers and alert anyone within 600 feet of your distress. In addition to the alarm feature, it also provides a bright LED light with three operational modes that can be used as a flashlight or a beacon to notify drivers if broken down on a dark road.

Thank you for a list that is Amazon and Target free! This matters more than you know, and I appreciate (a) your effort in doing this and (b) your announcing it loud and proud. And thank you, too, for a guide that has items that will appeal to girls and guys! So many grad gift guides default to things that are sparkly or beauty-related or all about that dorm room aesthetic, and you’ve assembled a list of gifts that can appeal to everybody. Brava!
Thanks for the Doordash gift card idea! I have a niece who is a Sophomore in college whose birthday is coming up, and this will be great. (Too bad the pouch for her university is backordered.)
