Starbucks for fuel as I raced around town for the last few presents, stocking stuffers, gift wrap, groceries, and of course some coffee to fuel me through my travels! These shoes are surprisingly comfortable, and I find when I dress up a bit for shopping (when I have time), I feel better, and do fewer impulse “I feel like crap and deserve” purchases and food treats. This is my second cashmere sweater from Nordstrom Collection (my last one is this cardigan which I still wear weekly); I always purchase them on sale but the quality is so stellar they're worth stalking. I do have this cashmere sweater from Halogen (seen in this post), but it's slimmer, longer, and not as thick and lofty. This one is a more casual fit and I wear it quite often on weekend with stretchy jeans, Chelsea boots, or these booties when I want to feel fancy. This day my jeans were in the wash so I pulled out this skirt; skirts and tights are sometimes even more comfy than jeans and look a lot more polished. I wore this same look to work Thursday, but when running errands I switched to this bag (woman-owned company in Maine) since it's big enough to hold small purchases and quickly converts to a backpack so I have my hands free. And now, all my presents are purchased. I've wrapped the ones from me and Karl, now just to wrap the ones from “Santa”!  If you are celebrating Christmas, how are you doing with being prepared for the 25th?

  1. I feel like this is one of my favorite outfits I’ve seen on you in all the years I’ve been following your blog. Soooooooo chic, and you look so comfy and happy!

  2. the hubs + i got such an amazing (and very out-of-character!) head-start on christmas this year — we were like 90% done with our gift shopping the first weekend of december!
of course, we rested on our laurels, and that’s why i spent all day yesterday behind the sewing machine with a partial hangover + why we hit the mall at 7:00 last night.
now we only have a few gifts to buy for family/friends…and i still have to shop for the hubby.
any ideas for the guy who has everything + always says “dont spend money on me” but will pout like a toddler in the middle of a temper-tantrum if you dont? 😉

    1. Back in October we went to REI and I watched Karl, all things he touched and seemed to like and took notes. But my family I always end up getting him odd gadgets. Last year my sister got K snowshoes and he LOVES them and wears them walking through the woods. He got a cheese making kit one year, kombucha starter kit, and stocking stuffers to make his own monkey ball or bracelet from paracord. This year he’s getting one of those 80-hour candles (http://amzn.to/1OGFMBs ) because he hates scented candles and likes “prepper” kind of things. I also get him music things. A turntable, the vinyl of his favorite album from the year, a tee shirt for his favorite band, a poster from a show we saw (eBay for posters and Etsy or the band’s site for the best tee shirts). In Etsy and Amazon, I have searched for Norway (where his family is from) goats and beavers (his favorite animals) and our town to find really random things from books and tees to weird home decor and gadgets.

      1. great suggestions! i especially love the 80-hour candle – my hubby loves to burn candles all the time, and i get frustrated with how quickly they burn through (and how expensive they are to constantly replace!)
mine is also SUPER into music — i did get him a bit of vinyl this year, and i know he will be surprised by it. 🙂
he LOVES toys, but he’s a bit of a hoarder with them, so im hesitant to buy any more. (have i got the mom vibe down yet?) 😉

  3. Another fantastic Allie black outfit! If I wore black next to my face, I might as well go ahead and try out for an extra in a zombie movie.

  4. That sweater is the perfect shape! It looks stylish and comfortable but not sloppy. I’m quite jealous. Nordstrom’s (and the Rack) are what I miss most about the US now that I’m in the UK (oh, and all my friends as well, of course!).

As for Christmas prep, still a bit more rushing around to do for a few little things but I actually like that last minute bustle of shopping so looking forward to it this weekend.
