I bought this Issa for Banana Republic dress many years ago when they had the collection and it has been by far one of my best purchases and completely worth paying full price.  The material, cut, pattern… I never tire or it.  Recently Adrien at Looks Good from the Back mentioned how she found an Issa dress on eBay and it inspired me to look for another dress from the Banana Republic Issa collection.  I didn't want exactly the same, but a similar concept.  I found this one and it was sized by letters while my current dress is a 14.  I went with an XL figuring it's easier to alter or cinch if too big rather than too small.  I like that it's longer than my other dress, has fitted arms which looks more appropriate at the office, and has my favorite color of orange in the print.  Also the gently used eBay price was only a third of what I paid for my other Issa for Banana dress!

I love the way this dress wraps around your midriff flattering your shape and decided I want this dress too. I’m such a copycat! So, I went on the hunt on eBay. Found one, made an offer and the seller accepted! Snagged the exact same dress style and pattern new with tags! Can’t wait for it to arrive.

By the way, might I say that your new hairdo is simply gorgeous and carefree looking!. My hair is also short, but by accident. Went to the beauty shop for a relaxer, asked for a trim and, it happens to the best of us, she whacked off about four inches!! Oh well, luckily it’ll grow back.

I love the new hair! I too have an Issa for Banana dress (very similar to that one, but a jade green with cap sleeves) and it is awesome. Wish I had bought more! My only gripe would be that the black shoes feel like they jar with this outfit 🙁 I’d love to see it with red shoes – or nude in the spring.

      second the nude shoes

      • February 5, 2016 / 5:51 pm

I will surely wear nude shoes with it come Spring, fully agree it would be a good look in warmer weather!

The only red heels I ever owned I purchased just to wear to David Bowie’s concert, “Put on your red shoes and dance the blues…”

    • February 5, 2016 / 5:51 pm

I don’t have any red shoes and I likely never will – just not versatile enough for my wardrobe. I agree with the nude shoes, I so will be wearing them with this dress come Spring!

What did you tell the hairdresser to get that cut? Mine is of similar length/texture, and I keep tinkering around with my cut, but don’t have it exactly as I want!

I went in with a picture of Demi Lovato’s lob (http://www2.pictures.stylebistro.com/gi/Demi+Lovato+Short+Hairstyles+B+o+B+rxvgwB2wUkml.jpg ) but we ended up going a bit shorter. At first I was freaked out with the shorter length but now I really like it a lot. Usually I cut my hair to be able to part it on either side but she said with this look it’s important to have a specific side because it’s asymmetrical. I also find it’s far better on Days 2 and 3. Day 1 (which I am sporting today) looks a bit frumpy, but when it get dirty, it gets piecey and has a better shape. I really like Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and their beach spray version for this hair, and I will take a curling iron to select pieces to get that flippy bottom. Yesterday I watched some YouTube videos on styling short wavy bobs and am going to play with products and hot tools this weekend and see how it goes!

It’s a great resource especially if you know a specific item. I also create alerts, such as I have one for Vince Camuto blazers since I know they fit so well. I get an email each time a new one is listed!

I find better stuff on eBay than in the stores or regular online. Search feature is unparalleled, I get actual garment measurements (Lands’ End does this, too) and the price is usually amazing! If for some reason it doesn’t work out and I can’t return it, I haven’t paid nearly as much and I can consign them locally (I buy good labels for this reason.)

    • February 4, 2016 / 11:36 am

Gotta love eBay. While I’m using Poshmark to sell, for finding high quality specific items, nothing compares to eBay!

Darn, I want that dress now so I guess I should start searching on Ebay! I wish Banana did more amazing collabs like they used to.
