For decades my favorite color has been a bright orange with a lot of red in it.  Some call is blood orange, some call it sunset, this season Ann Taylor is calling it Fire Glow Orange and I'm loving it.  When I saw this topper I just couldn't resist, and with some unseasonably warm weather this past weekend it was the perfect layering piece.  Even better to see it in petite sizes – no need to have the sleeves altered to the proper length!

Crew stripe teeWhile I styled it here with classic black and white, I think this orange color would look awesome paired with other colors and expect to wear it very soon with things like my citron skirt, berry ponte dress, or classic blue denim.

And I finally got around to getting my hair cut!  It's a bit shorter than I was expecting but this length is really growing (har har) on me and I'm having fun styling it.  Still long enough to put into a ponytail but short enough that next day or slightly dirty hair looks purposeful!

  1. Ok, you need too give us all the details on the new do! Is it one of those “choppy lobs/bobs?” How much work do you have to do with it in the morning to get it to look as you want it? Is it right at your chin or just below or above? Is it slightly angled in the back (A-line), or the same length in back as front? 🙂

    1. I went in wanting a lob with a bit of an edge and had a few pictures of Demi Lovato when her hair was this length (http://www2.pictures.stylebistro.com/gi/Demi+Lovato+Short+Hairstyles+B+o+B+rxvgwB2wUkml.jpg ) and it ended up being shorter. But it’s a cut that has a specific side part because it is longer on one side than the other and is shorter in the back just a bit. I’m still getting the hang of this hair. If I shower at night and wash my hair and let it air dry it takes forever to style it in the morning, but if I wash it, put in a texturizing product or surf spray, rough dry and then I’ve been playing with curling irons and flat irons to give wave without much more body and then I use a spray wax (http://amzn.to/1Tlpzc1) to hold the look. What’s great is after working out and Day 2 my hair looks even better and only needs the bedhead combed out and a bit more spray wax or Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. I can even get 3 days still looking great and have even done Day 4 with a slicked back look flipping up behind the ears. I think if my hair was straighter it would be easier, and I think if a big longer it would be easier with my fine but wavy/curly texture. I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos to get tips!

  2. Cutest hairstyle I have seen on you! You look great – more energetic and youthful, plus it lifts and emphasizes your face. WIN!

  3. Love your hair! It’s very flattering and sassy! The color of the coat is so bright and cheery and also looks great on you!

  4. This is really the best hair style on you! The best! (and the jacket’s great too!) ….but that hair is amazing!

  5. I’ve been waiting for reviews on Banana Republic’s new Ryan fit pant. I love the length! These look great on you. I think I might grab a pair. How do you like them? Love your hair by the way!

    1. I’m wearing them again today. I really light the weight and how the fabric doesn’t stretch out and bag. I left the basting stitches in the slash pockets and likely will have them sewn shut for a cleaner look. They’re roomy but a nice crisp look.

      1. Are they more of a winter pant or can these transition to spring/summer? I ask this because in the winter this length doesn’t work for me. It’s too darn cold here. There is no way I can go barefoot. I’m in northern Ontario and buried in snow! LOL

        1. They are that textured poly matte finish… I remember Express Editor pants being of the same fabric and love it because it can work year round. Not wool, not shiny, and I bet they could make a clean suit with a matching jacket. And today I am wearing them with ankle booties to keep me warm 🙂

      1. As an artist, I love that color; and as a resident of southern Arizona, I am regularly treated to seeing this color in our sunsets, and most wonderfully, in the plumage of the vermilion flycatcher. (See it here: http://www.arizonensis.org/sonoran/fieldguide/vertibrata/pyrocephalus_rubinus.html) Those birds are almost fluorescent, they are so bright! There is a bright male that often flits about the campus I work at.

Maybe I need a vermilion topper too.

  6. Love the new ‘do! It really highlights your face. The outfit is great too – Now I want a jacket like that for the early spring months.
