One day it's 80 degrees in DC, the next it's 40. I thought I'd be packing away the tights and tall boots, but with this weather I figure I can eek out a few more wearings! I bought this dress during one of Ann Taylor's 30% off sale deals several weeks ago, ended up being under $35 (note it's cheaper in store than online). It's cute but short with the self belt, but I like it for say a date night with my DKNY super opaque tights, or even with leggings. For work, I took off the belt for a looser silhouette and longer hemline.

  2. YOUR HAIR! I’m in love, Allie. You look stunning in these pictures. That outfit? Perfect. I love when you wear all neutrals like this with a POP of color in your lipstick. And your sassy little smirk? Love it.

  4. Very nice look. I like the black and white with the pop of color on the lips. I think you look great! I have to ask, is the Ann Taylor dress a petite version or the regular? I’m a little bit shorter than you (5’1″) and think it might be a perfect (and rare) length for me.

This is totally off topic for the day but I have to ask. What do you think about black bridesmaids dresses? Sophisticated or too Adams Family?

    1. As someone who was a Matron of Honor in a wedding where I was to wear black, I LOVE it! Makes it so easy if you’re allowed to wear different dresses and more likely to re-wear the dress. Also with flowers and decor it can look quite elegant and not too dreary or dark. The wedding where I wore black, the flowers were white and light green, the ceremony was outside and it was quite a feminine and summery affair 🙂

      1. Allie,

I remember the black dress for Matron of Honor and I thought that was wonderful. I can also see guests wearing black dresses. But I hadn’t heard about bridesmaids wearing black. Thanks for your thoughts.

One thing I do like about black bridesmaid dresses is that the choice of color accents, flowers, etc. is fairly wide open!

  9. I love the orange lips, it’s a great lipstick on you. Also your hair looks great. Mine is stick straight but I love your loose waves.
