I feel a not-so-little black dress is a must in most wardrobes. Christopher & Banks reached out and asked if I'd like to feature something from their current collection and as soon as I saw this dress I knew it was the perfect choice. I decided to use it to show how to style a not-so-little black dress three ways for three different situations, showing how you don't need a big closet to achieve big style.

Ponte knit is one of the most figure flattering and versatile fabrics; it's a tightly woven knit that doesn't wrinkle, stretches, and smooths curves.  It's great for travel, works for every season, and can dress up and down with ease.

The Sleeveless Fit & Flare Ponte Dress from Christopher & Banks has a flattering shape and classic silhouette.  It would be great to wear for a day at the wineries; pair with flat sandals and a straw hat for comfort and style.

For work, pair the dress with a statement necklace and pumps for summer office style; add a ponte blazer or cardigan in a favorite color for warmth and additional corporate coverage. Don't be afraid to show your personality at the workplace by incorporating statement jewelry or your favorite pop of color.

The Sleeveless Fit & Flare Ponte Dress is the type of thing I'd wear to work when I have plans after; a switch to a lightweight crossbody bag and shoes with a chunky comfortable heel for dinner and a show. This fringe bag and the chunky leather mules give a rock & roll vibe to a simple not-so-little black dress.

The Sleeveless Fit & Flare Ponte Dress from Christopher & Banks comes in Missy and Womens sizes 4 to 24W. It's a perfect wardrobe staple for summer and seasons to come.

  1. It looks great on you! Is it petite or missy? How does it compare to the Lands End dresses? I like this neckline better.

  2. Love this dress, It is one you can dress up or down. I am happy with Christopher & Banks clothing and accessories. It is ok to feature other collection, but usually stay with C&B’s

  3. Do you know there is actually one of these stores by me?!?!? I’ve never gone into it though as it looked from the outside like “something my Mom might wear”. I keep forgetting I’m almost 50. I don’t need another black dress but it’s good to know I have some actual brick and mortar options when shopping.

  4. I used to work there, years back. The clothes are definitely aimed, in my mind, at people like teachers, bank tellers, office workers – it was mostly workwear for people who need “business casual” clothes but don’t want to just wear blank pants and a white button-up every single day. It’s a very Midwestern brand. Their shirts were always way too short in length but I STILL own a skirt I bought while I worked for them, nearly ten years later! It’s held up great in the wash and it’s kind of a boho hippie skirt. It’s always in style in summer, haha.

That dress looks great on you! I need a little black dress. Hm.

  5. I love, love, love to wear dresses. Unfortunately, I have had a difficult time finding a lot of breastfeeding friendly dresses that are work appropriate, so for the past year I have worn mostly blouses and skirts or trousers. However, my time of breastfeeding is quickly drawing to a close (I’ll start weaning when baby girl turns 1 in July ) so I’m eager to get some new dresses in my closet. And this one looks like a great starting point!
