Quince Jeans Review: Honest Thoughts from a 40-Year-Old Midsize Woman
Quince has become a popular direct to consumer online retailer known for offering “luxury for less.” Best known for its cashmere and washable silk, Quince also carries handbags, Quince luggage, homegoods, and even beauty and wellness. In recent months, Quince has expanded its womens denim offerings. I know I wasn't the only one curious about Quince jeans. How was the quality? How did Quince denim fit, especially the body of midsize grown women?
Since at the time of this review Quince jeans only come in sizes 24-33, I wanted to have this review conducted by someone who is midsized, a grown woman, and who doesn't always find it easy to fit into jeans. I invited Kimberly, a member of the Wardrobe Oxygen community to review Quince denim for us and share her experience.

Quince Jeans Review: Honest Thoughts from a 40-Year-Old Midsize Woman
Hi Wardrobe Oxygen. My name is Kimberly, and I am a 40-year-old woman living in Washington, DC. Back in 2019, I was introduced to Wardrobe Oxygen through an Instagram live closet edit she had with a wardrobe consultant who used to work in the area. I became intrigued and hit the follow button. I tuned into each of those sessions and learned an incredible amount of knowledge and tips. Since then, I’ve continued to follow Alison’s journey and have come to trust and value her honest real-life approach to fashion.
When Alison offered me the chance to review Quince denim, I jumped at the opportunity. I have purchased some cashmere sweaters from Quince, but I hadn’t realized Quince sold jeans, so I was genuinely excited to give them a try.
As someone who has fluctuated between being a midsize 8-12 most of my life, Wardrobe Oxygen has introduced me to a wide variety of brands that actually work for my body and lifestyle and helped me to think about my closet and purchases in new ways. I believe in quality not quantity. I was hopeful Quince denim might be another one to add to that list.
About Me, My History with Jeans and My Body
A little background on me and my relationship with jeans. There’s nothing like a new pair of jeans. The problem lies in finding jeans that not only fit well, but reflect your style and budget. I’ve found that if I buy jeans from more affordable fast-fashion brands like Old Navy, that denim only lasts a year before it loses its shape and stretch. The jeans that cost a bit more tend to last longer.
I like denim that has some stretch about 3-5% in either straight, wide-leg, flare, and sometimes cropped cuts. I’m a big fan of J. Crew, GAP (early 2000 quality!), Paige, Frame, and AG jeans-these brands usually fit me well.
I’m short-waisted with a soft tummy and I prefer a rise between 10-11 inches. I have tried a lot of jeans over the years, and it’s rare to find a pair that fits me perfectly without some sort of alteration.
For reference, I’m 5'4″ and typically wear a 29/30 in denim (size 10/12). Depending on the inseam, both petite and regular lengths can work for me. Some of my favorite jeans are the Frame Le High Straight Bestia in a 29, Madewell Cali Demi Bootcut Jeans, AG Ex-Boyfriend Jeans, and Paige Anessa.
I’m familiar with Quince and already own and love the Tencel Jersey Fit & Flare Dress and the Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Boxy Cropped Cardigan Sweater.
What Quince Jeans I Ordered
I was pleased to see Quince offers a decent selection of denim in a variety of silhouettes and washes, however, it is currently only available in size ranges 24-33. When I set out to select items for the review, I kept my lifestyle in mind which requires a lot of casual and smart casual dressing. I checked my measurements before ordering, and dived into the denim options.
While I love all denim, I was really excited to try kick flare jeans and wide-leg jeans in a new color. The styles of Quince jeans I ordered:
- Quince Bella Relaxed Straight Jeans
- Quince Bella Stretch Wide Leg Jeans
- Quince Bella Stretch Kick Flare Jeans
- Quince Bella Stretch Straight Jeans
- Quince Luna Stretch Flare Jeans
Many of the options that I wanted to order were sold out in the sizes, colors, or inseams that I wanted to try. I followed the brand’s size chart and ordered a size 30 based on my measurements and what size I wear in so many other denim brands. However, my experience with Quince jeans left me underwhelmed. I found the quality to be below average due to sizing inconsistencies.
Fit and Sizing from a Midsize Perspective
After trying on three pairs of jeans, I couldn’t button one pair, and the other two pairs were uncomfortably tight. I decided it was time to check the waistband measurements. Sure enough, only one pair was a true 30, while the others were 1-2 inches smaller than the size chart indicated.
These are the Quince Bella Stretch Straight Jeans size 30 and 28 length. These were the best fitting and most comfortable of the haul, but I need a bigger size. I cannot sit in these jeans and that’s a deal breaker. A 31 or a 32 might be more comfortable, but would probably require some tailoring.
Final Verdict: Are Quince Jeans Worth It?
I cannot imagine a better denim at this price. Quince delivers on its promise of affordable basics, but falls short in size ranges and product availability. I was impressed with the quality, fabric, and variety of washes, sizes, and inseams.
My personal favorites are the Bella Stretch Straight Leg (Seaside), which is a nice versatile medium wash. When I ordered, the Bella Stretch Wide Leg Jean was only available in Loden Green, but I love the shape of the jeans, but would prefer if they were a bigger size and I didn't expect to need a longer length.
The other jeans I ordered were great quality but the size was so off I couldn't even try them on for this Quince jeans review. That said, everyone’s body is different, and what doesn’t work for one person might be perfect for someone else. I always appreciate the opportunity to try something new—and to share honest feedback that might help others in their own denim search.
Your review was awesome! Thanks for all the time and effort you clearly put I to it. I have not tried the quince jeans but have had similar experiences with
other items ( shirts sweaters dresses) having VERY inconsistent sizing. The items I get from them that fit well I love but it’s very hit or miss if the sizes will work. It leaves me feeling very unenthused by them.
Great review! I have thought about trying Quince jeans, but the sizing inconsistencies will make me think twice. I do wish Quince would use models of different sizes and heights to present a more realistic picture of how their clothes might look on real people.
Kimberly, Thank you for the great review. I’ve been looking at the Quince Bella Straight leg in black, but they’re sold out in my size. A friend of mine has this style, and she raves about them. Hopefully, they’ll be available again so I can try them. I’ll probably size up after reading what you went through. Thanks again – great job!
Great review! It convinced me to pass on ordering Quince jeans. There is nothing more frustrating than ordering a bunch of seemingly almost-perfect jeans and finding them nowhere-near-perfect. Jeans are hard enough to find when sizes are consistent, but styles vary — so, when everything is all over the map, I give up before starting.
Thanks for the great review. It was validating for me. My body is quite different from yours (I’m 61, 5 ft 2 inches, and usually wear a 10-12 in most denim,) however, my Quince jean experience was very similar. Everything I tried was either too small, too big, too short, too long, or fit and looked awful on me.
