What I Wore Recently: August 2026
Very delayed but better late than never? August was a jam-packed month for me and my family. We did our annual trip to Rehoboth Beach, we visited colleges, and my daughter started her senior year of high school.
A new restaurant opened in town, and my friend and I went to check it out. I wore my Universal Standard stretch linen “Dune” shirtdress as a duster over a pair of hot coral kick flare twill pants from SPANX (same ones in this colorful summer capsule wardrobe). The shoes are very old (here I am wearing them in 2019 but I know they're older than that). They're Vince Camuto and continue to be one of the most comfortable heels I've ever owned. I found a pair new in box on eBay a year or two ago and have them at the ready when these kick the bucket.

The bag is Proenza Schouler White Label, a couple of years old. The earrings are M.M.LaFleur, and the anklet is Jenny Bird. The bracelets are all quite old, but I think the ring I was wearing is this one from Sami's Jewels.
My sister, daughter, and I did our annual trip to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The first evening, I wore a blue and white striped Rochelle Behrens WFH dress with a belt I found on eBay (use keywords black studded western belt Y2K to find similar). I saw some GenZ kid on social media wearing one of these belts, and I thought I never had one back in the day but would love one now so I headed to eBay and found one for around $18. Being grown is being able to afford the items you didn't have the first go-round!
As for the rest of the outfit, wearing white Archies flops, and my trusty Lands' End tote. Earrings are Ana Luisa.
The first day at the beach and pool, I wore a Bare Necessities brand underwire bikini top and a pair of Lands' End swim bottoms. The blue shirt is Talbots linen, the sunglasses are the Ray-Ban Wayfarer Ease style with prescription, and the hat is Polo Ralph Lauren. The towel was my sister's and the band holding it on the lounge chair I found on vacation a few years ago.
That evening, I wore an old pair of Madewell linen pants (why oh why did they discontinue the Harlow?) with the Tanya Taylor “Marlowe” top I borrowed from Rent the Runway. The top has a peplum bottom but it hit at a weird place on me so I just tucked it in. Again wearing the Archie flip-flops, and an old black belt bag as a sling purse.
The next day, I wore an old Polo Ralph Lauren oxford I got at the Ralph Lauren outlet in Rehoboth Beach a few summers prior (Mens XXL) with a pair of SPANX twill shorts (see in my SPANX clothing review), my Polo hat, and Lands' End tote. The necklace is Baublebar, the watch is Citizen.
That day, the jellyfish were so intense, we stayed at the hotel pool. I wore a swimsuit by Vetchy with my Polo cap and my Ray-Bans.
That evening, I wore a Lands' End sundress I got the previous year (seen here) with old Teva sandals and my Lands' End tote.
The last day I wore the same Talbots linen shirt with the same SPANX white twill shorts and my STAUD x Birkenstock Arizona sandals.
That following week, I took my daughter for her senior portraits and she captured my OOTD in the parking lot: a very old Banana Republic top with padded shoulders and Athleta Skyline barrel pants. STAUD x Birkenstock sandals, Lands' End tote, MIRU hoops, Ray-Ban glasses.
My husband's dad's side of the family had a small family reunion with those who live in Maryland and those who were visiting at the time. I wore a Frances Valentine Diplomat dress with Birkenstock sandals and a Frances Valentine basket purse. Wore my Jenny Bird Gia Mega bangle and Child of Wild hoops.
That week, I was hosted by Wolf Trap to see Diana Ross in concert. She was amazing! I took my dear friend and hair stylist Billy with me. I wore a sheer white dress from ALIGNE with a black t-shirt bra and black Thigh Society shorts underneath, FitFlop fisherman sandals, the Lo & Sons Aoyama 2 bag, and allllll the silver jewelry.
That weekend, Karl and I had a date night; I wore an M.M.LaFleur t-shirt dress with gathered detail at the side. The bag is GANNI and a few years old, the sneakers are the Adidas Tokyo style, and you've seen all the jewelry before.
That weekend, I also went to the community pool. This is the same striped shirtdress from Rochelle Behrens seen in the first Rehoboth Beach outfit photo. I often wore it this weekend as a swim coverup, as well as a duster/long shirt and then of course, a dress. Flip flops are Archies, hat is Solbari, tote is Lands' End.
That week was getting E ready for school. Shopping for supplies, clothes, backpack, and treating her to a first day of school manicure. One of those errand days I wore this Ann Taylor sweater and skirt set with FitFlop Mary Janes and again the Lo & Sons Aoyama 2 bag.
These shoes are awesome; they were comfy right out of the bag. Often, silver shoes are stiff but these are great and wider-foot friendly!
Met a fellow parent friend for dinner to chat about the return to school and how we're faring. The pants are old J. Crew (seen in this post in 2022 saying I got them the year prior), the shirt is Rochelle Behrens, the sweater is Four Objects, the necklace Heaven Mayhem, the glasses Eyebobs, and my Birks and Lands' End tote.

I love the What I Wore Recently posts. I love that Frances Valentine dress. On another topic, I believe I started reading your blog when your daughter was just a toddler. How did she become a Senior in HS already??!!
I miss the Harlow pants as well. I love these recap posts- inspiration galore for me to break out of my rut and wear what is in my closet vs the same six things on repeat.
