Tuesday we woke up before dawn for my early morning arm surgery and since then I have pretty much stayed inside.  Friday Karl took me to get my hair cut and colored and after we got lunch; after that excursion I was so wiped I took a three-hour nap to recover.  I ended up missing the grand reopening of the historic movie theater in town and a fabulous Girl Scout field trip to take our Daisies to a working farm because of this arm.  However, Saturday night we had tickets to see our friend Ryan star in a local performance of A Raisin in the Sun and I didn't want to miss it.  I figured since I'd be sitting the whole time it shouldn't be too exhausting.  I was so excited to get out of the house I dressed for the occasion with one of my favorite frocks (previously seen here).  A crossbody is best with the arm situation, and this one is nice because it lies close to the body and is easy to retrieve contents with one hand.  These shoes are super comfy and sturdy, enough of a heel for my dress to not drag but a thick heel that won't catch on anything and keep me steady.  Karl took these pictures on our way to our car and I think they show my relief and excitement to get out in the world again!

The play was fantastic, Ryan was utterly brilliant!  However, I was so exhausted just by dinner at the cafe in the same town center as the theater and the play that I was feeling dizzy by the end and we had to miss the after-party.  But it was so worth it to get out, and it was good training to get me back in shape for being back to work this week!

Just an FYI, the dentist (saw her this AM) is very happy with my “plaque maintenance,” but says I need to wear my NTI night guard on a more regular basis or else I may have no bottom teeth in a couple of years. I am a flossing and brushing diva, but somehow lost my…

Another rainy day (yesterday ended with torrential downpours that luckily ended by time the concert was over). No point in working hard on the hair… Black and white print cotton kimono-style top from H&M, black synthetic camisole from Victoria’s Secret, same black stretch poplin trousers from Caslon that I wore last night, black leather thong…

I cannot believe the wonderful comments you all have written with my recent post. Each time one would show up in my Inbox I would be near tears. I considered ending blogging all together at the end of 2009 and then I saw Julie and Julia. That movie inspired this household – it got my husband making…

  1. I love the maxi dress but I’m not sure on the red bag? It might be the light reflecting off it! The dress is fabulous though and as others have said I would never have noticed the arm…

  2. Hope you heal quickly & completely. I barely noticed the arm between all the flowers on that gorgeous dress.

  3. What? Wait. I somehow missed that you were having surgery again. I’m sorry. 🙁
Karl is a great photographer. I love these pics and your hair and dress. Glad you had fun!

  4. From the thumbnail I thought I was going to hate this look but when I look at the photos full-size, I love it. The colors are way brighter on that dress than the thumbnail made it seem to me! Gorgeous.
