I am a fan of Talbots and have been for years (you can see my Talbots archives back to 2005 at this link). I love Talbots' quality, modern yet classic style, and their extensive size range (few other retailers offer petite plus sizes). Talbots invited me to share how I holiday and style a look from their New Arrivals. This post is sponsored by Talbots.

How We Holiday with Talbots

Alison and her daughter walking in the woods, holding hands and smiling at one another. They are both wearing coral colored short puffer jackets with tall collars and dark jeans. They are also wearing coral and gray Fair Isle printed sweaters, scarves, and beanies. All the clothing is from Talbots.

If you go through my archives, you'll see a holiday tradition for my family is dressing alike. We get family pajamas each year, and our holiday card usually shares a photo of all of us (Oscar the dog included!) in matching or coordinated looks.

This year, our daughter E grew so much; she is now officially taller than I am! This means she fits into many of the fashion brands that I wear and love. Talbots invited me to style a look from their New Arrivals and I asked if my daughter could join in; they loved the idea!

They are wearing buttoned up coral colored hip length puffer coats and Fair Isle print scarves wrapped around their necks twice. They are also wearing Fair Isle print beanie caps with a gray cuff and white furry pom pom on top.

Another holiday tradition for our family is walking in the woods behind our home. We've lived here for 20 years and it's amazing how the woods have changed over time as well as with the seasons.

This time of year is our favorite for these walks, seeing how the leaves change from green to scarlet, rust, and gold. Then, as they fall to the ground, the weather gets cold enough that everything is dusted with frost on an early morning hike.

As a family, we take a walk everything Thanksgiving through these woods to give thanks for nature's bounty. We're also thankful that this year with vaccines and booster shots, we will again be hosting Thanksgiving at our home with close family and friends.

The sweater sleeves are slightly puffed. I chose an XL in this sweater for a relaxed look but if I went with L it would look dressier and look great tucked into or worn over a skirt or trousers.

When I proposed this mother/daughter shoot to E, she checked out Talbots' New Arrivals and immediately fell for this down-alternative short puffer coat. We both agreed this Fair Isle print was so pretty and festive but not in a holiday-specific way. It's so fun that this print is available not just in the sweater, but in a hat, scarf, and gloves too!

I am wearing the sweater in XL regular so it would be a more casual, relaxed fit and also layer well. I'm wearing the coat in size Large regular. The coat is a nice cut; not boxy and not stiff. This coat is a down alternative but still feels soft; it's a hint thicker than a traditional packable parka. It snaps closed and has deep front fleece-lined pockets. It is available in Misses, Petite, and Plus and in two colors.

Matching down to our love of Doc Martens!

The jeans are these straight legs in size 14 petite; my daughter is wearing these jeggings. We found they run a bit large and a nice weight heavier than most jeggings but still comfy and stretchy.

If you are looking to branch out from skinny jeans, the Talbots Straight Leg Jeans are a great choice. I find they're still slim enough to tuck into boots, not too flared for flats, but work well over ankle boots. I think the Talbots Straight Leg Jeans run true to size to slightly generous in comparison to other misses' apparel retailers.

Alison and her daughter are standing in the woods and sun is dappled on their faces. They have their arms around one another and are smiling at the camera, their temples touching. They are wearing matching outfits od dark slim-fitting jeans, coral-colored puffer coats that hit mid-hip, and Fair Isle printed sweaters, long scarves, and knit caps of the same coral, white, and gray color.

While the link I shared only has these jeans in sizes up to 18 and petite, the Talbots Straight Leg Jean is available in Misses, Petite, Plus, and Curvy options for Misses and Plus. I've owned a few different washes and colors of these jeans and really like the fit.

Thank you to Talbots for sponsoring this post and also for giving us the motivation to take some photos together that I know we will both treasure for years. I am thankful that I can share some of these opportunities with my daughter; not only do we get beautiful photos and benefit her college fund, but we also get to wear beautiful twinning outfits and have fun together as a family (Dad's behind the camera). I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate and get the opportunity to spend some of it outside!
