If you have been n the fashion side of TikTok you may have been fed the videos of Talia Mayden, who has been testing out different types of shoes to see if they can survive 10,000 steps in NYC while still looking chic. And a brand that keeps getting props from her and commenters that is reasonably priced, and a brand I own and love myself, is Camper.

Camper is a Spanish shoe brand founded in 1975 by Lorenzo Fluxà. Meaning “peasant” in Catalan, Camper was created to offer quality, but comfortable and creative footwear. The first Camper store opened in Mallorca in 1981. Camper expanded internationally in the 90s, and I think I found out about the brand soon after that. Camper is still a family-owned company (fourth generation!), and the shoes are available at major retailers like Nordstrom, Macy's, The Walking Company, and of course the Camper site.

As someone with wide feet and who deals with various foot issues like plantar fasciitis, I have had decent success with Camper shoes. I find the are often wide enough for comfort, while also offering good structure and support. I appreciate the quirkiness of Camper shoes; it's a brand that has always been ahead of the trends. Camper shoes that looked goofy a few years ago are now so chic, folks will wonder if they're from The Row or Margiela

I like Camper for summer shoes because the sandals are comfortable but look like something sold at Net-a-Porter. The Dana sandal from Camper is the one that went “viral” for being great for walking city streets and for travel. I have yet to try them, but they are on my list for considering this coming late spring. I don't recall the name of the black Camper sandals I own, but I love them.

Camper is having a moment, but Camper shoes are that quirky style that transcends trends. And the quality is stellar enough (and the pricepoint not as ridiculous as other trending shoe brands) that these shoes can be closet favorites for years to come.

Camper shoes size chart for women

That being said, sizing can be inconsistent. I like shopping Camper at Nordstrom because returns are easy. I am usually a size 8, but I have Camper shoes that are both 38 and 39 and some styles just haven't worked at all. But when they do… they're pretty great. I have the Camper size chart above, but recommend reading customer reviews (Nordstrom and Camper both have plenty) to help gauge what size and style is best for you. Measure from tip of longest toe to back of heel for the measurement to the left, and find the appropriate size within the chart.

  1. I started wearing Camper shoes about 10 years ago — the Camper Right Nina ballet flat. I saw them on a woman walking down Wisconsin Ave in DC and chased her down to ask what they were. I wear a US 10, which in Camper is sometimes a 41, but often a 42, making ordering (and returning) the norm. I still love mine after all this time.

  2. These shoes are interesting! In the first graphic, #15, Helena bajo Leather Mary Janes, what can I wear these with? Could you give some ideas on how to style with jeans? with black ankle length ponte pants?

  3. Thank you for spotlighting Camper! I discovered them about a year ago and was able to go to their store while in NYC. I have fairly non-quirky but on-trend styles. The sneakers and loafers are great for my wide feet. The Junction loafer is the comfiest shoe I have ever put on my foot (and the quirky toe cap is removable.) They sell insoles if you are between sizes. They also will resole their Pelotas.

  4. I have a pair of quite traditional black flat sandals from Camper that I love, and I never knew they had so many funkier styles! I don’t have a wide foot, but I do have a prominent bunion on my right foot that often leads me into wide sizes and heel padding. I guess I just have to take the plunge and see what works, knowing Nordstrom orders are easy to return.

  5. How curious. I have had Camper shoes in the past (well certainly boots) and just decided that they were not wide enough for me. And although I have fairly difficult feet I buy normal shoes rather than special wide ones. Maybe they have become more generous over the years. I have always fancied having the shoes that are not quite a pair.

  6. I tried a pair last year. and yes, the size was inconsistent. but also, I’m not into quirky. I had ordered an unquirky pair & still didn’t like them enough to reorder in the correct size. But I saw them on a couple other influencers pre-COVID & thought they looked nice. so the style issue is very much a me problem.
