TL;DR

The Quick Version

  • Community reviewer Rachel tested three Harper Wilde styles: the Base Unlined Bra, the Bliss Racerback Bralette, and the signature Bliss Bralette.
    • The Base Unlined Bra has front-adjustable straps and a soft feel, but the cups don't hold shape on a fuller, uneven bust.
    • The Bliss Racerback Bralette is comfortable and smoothing, but the racerback cut digs in at the shoulder blades and sits higher than the standard Bliss style.
    • The classic Bliss Bralette is the winner of the three: comfortable, durable over years of wear, and good for lounging or sleep, though the cups run a touch small and it isn't fully invisible under a plain tank.
  • None of these are underwire replacements for structure and lift. They're best if your priority is comfort first.

I listen to you folks, and when you say you want more honest reviews of comfortable bras, I work to provide them. There are some popular wirefree bra and bralette brands on the market; one of them is Harper Wilde. When Harper Wilde reached out offering me gifting with no strings attached, I saw this as an excellent time to have one of you from the Wardrobe Oxygen community receive these bras and share your honest unfiltered thoughts with us.

I chose Rachel, and when you read her Harper Wilde bra review below, I think you will see why I found her to be the perfect person for it. Rachel is knowledgeable about the brand, has been professionally fitted, has experienced life and body changes, isn't easy to fit, and desires comfort yet support and functionality from her bras. I know Harper Wilde is not a familiar brand to all, so a little history on it:

What Is Harper Wilde?

Harper Wilde was founded in 2017 by Jenna Kerner Barnes, who developed the brand's products while working toward an MBA at Wharton. The brand built its name on wire-free bralettes and lightly structured everyday bras, positioning itself against the padded, underwire-heavy lingerie most department stores carry. Its Bliss collection is made of an ultra-soft microfiber and comes in nine styles, including V-neck, halter, and racerback cuts. Sizing varies by style, with wireless bras running from XS to 6XL and underwire styles ranging from 32A to 42DDD.

Harper Wilde has landed on comfort-focused “best bra” roundups from outlets like CNN, InStyle, and Good Housekeeping, and two Harper Wilde styles that made the New York Times Wirecutter's list of the best, most comfortable bras. That's some serious praise; is it truly worth it and for a larger bust? Rachel was up for the task, and provided a stellar and thorough review for us.

Meet Rachel, Our Harper Wilde Reviewer

Hello! I’m Rachel, a 33-year-old Toddler Mom living in West Michigan. I work full time from home in a corporate role. I am 6 feet tall and a consistent size 16/XL/33L across my favorite brands (GAP, Madewell, Universal Standard, Lucy & Yak), and have been professionally fitted (by a local small, independent bra shop) into a size 40E. My breasts have changed shape through weight loss and gain and loss again, they have sustained my daughter’s life over 12 months of breastfeeding; I am so incredibly proud of them and all they have done.

Taking one for the team: Rachel sharing her natural bustline without a bra.

My chest is heavy, tear-drop shaped, and has a full cup size difference between the two. The local bra specialist I worked with advised me to look for bras without foam cups, as bras unlined or comprised of only fabric will be best able to adjust to my size difference without giving me a ‘muffin top’ or a gap at the top. In making this choice away from padding, I also chose to lose any remaining embarrassment over my nipples and their existence. I wanted to share what I look like without a bra, and with my preferred Elomi Charley Spacer Bra in a size 40E.

I have been a customer of Harper Wilde since early 2020, and was very excited to add my thoughts when Alison asked for a community reviewer. I have used their signature Bliss Bralette regularly for the last 6 years, and my go-to bralette has been their Lounge Rib Triangle Bralette (which appears to be phasing out on their site, the closest replacement I see is the Ribbed Seamless Triangle Bralette).

I used both of these styles of bralette throughout my pregnancy 2022-2023, and wore one of the Bliss Bralettes during Labor and Delivery – it ended up having to be cut off me after delivery! The Lounge Rib Triangle Bralette I have recommended to many, many people both in person and online as the PERFECT breastfeeding bralette – supportive enough for sensitive postpartum breastfeeding breasts, stretchy enough to just pull down the neckline for easy access for baby.

I am usually a religious air-dry intimates person, but during postpartum I threw my Lounge Rib Triangle Bralettes into the dryer at least once a week for convenience – they have held up and I still wear the 4 (!) I own regularly.

Until this review, I had not ventured outside those 2 styles from Harper Wilde. I was excited to try an underwire bra from them, try a Bliss Bralette to see if there has been any changes throughout the last 5ish years, and try a racerback style as I endeavor to find a bra that can hide under tank tops.

Harper Wilde Base Unlined Bra Review

Size tested: 40 DD/E, color Rose

This is … not my favorite.

Pros: Straps which adjust FROM THE FRONT meaning you can adjust them easily yourself while wearing the bra fully clasped. Oh my gosh. Why doesn't every single bra have this feature; this is the sort of innovation I want scientists to focus on. Also a Pro: This bra is very comfortable. The fabric is very silky soft microfiber, the underwires are nicely encased, the clasp is 3-wide and sturdy.

My main Con with the Harper Wilde Base Unlined Bra is the fit. The size of the underwires fit very well, but there was a lot of fabric in the cups that stretched out and wrinkled/puckered. You can see the underwire is nicely supporting the bottom of my breasts, but the fabric is too stretchy to adequately support and bring any of the tissue higher and fill out the top half of the cup. This thin soft fabric also immediately surrendered to my back topography, and does not provide any smoothing.

If you are someone with a small/smaller cup size, the Harper Wilde Base Unlined Bra could work for you. But this microfiber fabric is fabulously soft and therefore just the wrong choice for those of us with more weight in our breasts.

Harper Wilde Bliss Racerback Bralette Review

Size tested: 2XL, color Beige

This bra is SO CLOSE to being something good. I really like the support band on the Bliss Bralettes, and this racerback version has the same bottom band design. The Harper Wilde Bliss Racerback Bralette has the same soft, silky microfiber fabric but the construction design gives you a double layer everywhere which hugs the body well and provides smoothing in the back and sides. I like that the strap design makes it invisible under a tank top that cuts in on the back, and the sides are well hidden under the armholes of a tank as well.

BUT. 2 buts: the cut of the racerback continues swooping down from the armpit before coming back together in the racerback portion, which not only allows the skin and fat on my shoulder blades to spill over but accentuates it, causing the back of the tank top to pull in a stripe there that is not something I would love to see on myself.

More confusingly, this design comes up FAR higher in the chest/cleavage area than the normal Bliss bralette. An inch or so of the Bliss Racerback Bralette is visible above the neckline of my pretty standard tank top, and you cannot see almost any cleavage. Honestly if this Bliss Racerback bralette had the same lower front cut as the standard Bliss bralette, I would probably wear it quite a bit in the summer under tank tops, even with the shaping issues in the back.

This bralette is very comfortable, decently supportive for a wire-free bralette, but has a couple design choices that turn this from something I would reach for frequently, to something I will not reach for at all.

I like this bralette. Is it perfect? No. But it's pretty darn great for me. The fabric is the same silky soft, double-layered microfiber. The straps are supportive and comfortable, the bottom band is thick and stretchy but not too stretchy. My main gripe is I do think the cups are a tad small for my size, although that could unfortunately be expected with non-cup-size sizing.

This bralette that was gifted to me for this 2026 review is identical to the ones I purchased 5 and 6 years ago, and I expect it to hold up equally well. I did not use this bralette for breastfeeding, as the neckline does not have the stretch to allow it to be pulled down under a breast. I did however use the Bliss bralettes for sleeping, throughout pregnancy and postpartum, and they worked very well for that purpose.

Disappointingly, this bralette is visible for me under a standard tank top. You can see a sliver at the neckline, and on the back where a tank often cuts in slightly at the arm hole. I will wear this bralette though under cotton t-shirts and sweatshirts, when I'm lounging or at an occasion that I do not care for my chest to look its best. It does not have the lifting and separating effect of a standard underwire bra, but the Bliss Bralette from Harper Wilde does a good job keeping my chest held and supported while being very comfortable.

Is Harper Wilde Good for a Cup Size Difference or Uneven Bust?

Rachel's experience showcases the pros and cons of Harper Wilde bras: unlined, stretchy microfiber like Harper Wilde's Base Bra and Bliss line can flex to fit two different-sized breasts in the same bra without a hard foam cup fighting you. However, that same stretch that adapts to an uneven bust means less lift and shape for a fuller cup, which is what Rachel experienced with the Base Unlined Bra.

I found Rachel's review of Harper Wilde incredibly helpful. I personally tried a bralette style a couple of years ago; I can't recall which one but based on these photos I know it isn't a style Rachel tried. The Harper Wilde bralette I tried, for me, was a bust. But we're all different people with different bodies and different needs from our underpinnings. Rachel, you did a stellar review with the details I think anyone would be looking for if considering Harper Wilde bras. I thank you, and I know many who read this will be thanking you, too!

Frequently Asked Questions About Harper Wilde Bras

Is Harper Wilde good for a large bust?

It depends on the style and what “large” means for your shape. Rachel, a 40E, found the wire-free Bliss Bralette comfortable and durable but slightly small in the cup, and found the Base Unlined Bra's soft fabric couldn't hold and lift a fuller cup the way an underwire bra would. Wire-free Harper Wilde styles work best for support you can live in, not for structured lift.

Does Harper Wilde work if my breasts are different sizes?

Unlined, stretchy styles like the Base Bra and Bliss line can adapt to a cup size difference better than a rigid foam-cup bra, since the fabric flexes to each side rather than forcing both breasts into a matched shape.

Is the Harper Wilde Bliss Bralette good for breastfeeding?

The standard Bliss Bralette works well for sleep during pregnancy and postpartum, but its neckline doesn't stretch enough to pull down for nursing access. Harper Wilde's ribbed triangle bralette styles are the better pick if you need pull-down access for breastfeeding.

Does the Harper Wilde Bliss Racerback Bralette work under tank tops?

Only sometimes. It disappears under tanks that cut in at the back, but its higher front cut and racerback shaping can dig into the shoulder blades and show above the neckline of a standard tank.

How long do Harper Wilde bralettes last?

Rachel has worn Bliss Bralettes for five to six years, including weekly machine drying during the postpartum stretch, and says they've held up well.

Is Harper Wilde Good for Breastfeeding?

Rachel's experience says yes, with caveats. She wore the Bliss Bralette and the (now-discontinued) Lounge Rib Triangle Bralette throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and over a year of breastfeeding, and called the Lounge Rib style the perfect breastfeeding bralette: stretchy enough to pull the neckline down for easy access, supportive enough for sensitive postpartum breasts. She even wore a Bliss Bralette during labor and delivery. The standard Bliss Bralette, by contrast, doesn't have that same give at the neckline, so it worked for sleep but not for nursing access.
