Dress: Spruce & Sage c/o Gwynnie Bee | Shoes: Nine West “Flax” | Bracelet: Nordstrom | Bag: Hobo Bags (similar) | Cast Cover: c/o CastCoverZ! | Lipstick: NARS Red Square

Emerson said this dress looked like rose petals underwater. I said it reminded me of a Monet, she quickly agreed which freaked me out because we haven't really taught her that much about artists. A Monet fan in a past life? Besides the dress being a pretty print, it's pretty comfortable too. It's fully lined, but the lining is a bit stretchy and not as hot as a traditional acetate one. While this would look cute with a skinny belt or shoes in one of the great colors of the print, I decided to keep it simple with nude pumps and a fun little bracelet.  And this bag was a Hobo Sample Sale purchase that has given me years of happiness; it has a chain strap making it uber versatile and an unexpected classic.

This dress is a perfect example of why I love Gwynnie Bee; it's a pretty dress that I kept for more than one wear, but it's the type of dress I would purchase and then grow tired of before the season is through.  With Gwynnie Bee I can keep and wear as long as I wish and the return for a new dress to love!

Girl, you’re just looking fabulous lately. Know it’s been a long hill you’re still climbing, but glad you’re doing outfit posts again – love seeing your face (and your fab new hair – just LOVE it!)

Is there a GB option for the non-plus size girl?

also, love the freudian slip/truth in the typo in Moet v. Monet. I mean, i would *expect* your daughter to know about champagne 😉

  • Bwahaha, guess spellcheck likes champs! I swear I am SO much better with this cast but typos have become my signature (also I accidentally open programs and shut down my computer without having an idea what I hit on my keyboard). Off to fix 🙂

  • There’s StitchFix which isn’t rental exactly but an interesting concept: https://stitchfix.com/ there’s also Le Tote which is more of a rental service: http://www.letote.com/ I haven’t used either, but I have friends who have used and like StitchFix a lot!

  • Thank you! <3

  • Also I can’t think of Moet anymore without thinking of this SNL skirt: https://screen.yahoo.com/moet-chandon-000000531.html #moeychandon

  • Sorry #moeychambon LOL

SO pretty! LOVE the dess, and your hair looks amazing.

  • Lynn

Oh Allie! You look beautiful head to toe. That dress is perfect for you. You’ve inspired me to put some extra effort into my appearance today. Thank you!

  • Thank you! Each new skill is so exciting with this cast, I can now maneuver a round brush and dryer to smooth out my hair and this morning I put in my contacts! Oh the small things that bring so much joy!

  • Thank you so much Lynn, and I am so glad, YOU DESERVE IT! <3

  • Sonia

You’re back! I love your posts outdoors with descriptions of your entire outfit. Love this entire look! Hope you’re heading fast.

  • Thanks Sonia, fingers crossed the cast comes off Monday! 🙂

  • Amy

You look adorable in that dress! The pumps really make it, too.

  • LOVE everything about this outfit on you! Beautiful dress, lovely print, sweet smile. It’s good to see you again! 🙂

  • Ginger

    You look great!
I’d always wonder if I should put a belt with a dress like that, but looking at you I don’t think it’s necessary, plus it’d be sliding around all day needing adjustment.

I have a Hobo bag in a similar style that I got someplace years ago. They’re expensive but do a pretty good job of remaining relevant over time.

  • Thanks Amy!

  • Thanks Melissa, it’s good to be back! 🙂

  • Thanks Ginger! And yes, as soon as I put it on I went to my belt rack, but it looked dressier without one (and a lot less complicated!). And I agree regarding Hobo, they aren’t cheap but they are styles that don’t date like other brands, they’re well made, and I love that they’re based in Maryland 🙂

  • This dress is lovely on you! I love your entire look…picture perfect! 🙂

  • Karen

I also love the hair — And a dress with pockets? *swoon*

  • Karen

oops, just realized that’s not a pocket. It’s your cast. But it matches so well! We’ll keep hoping for dresses with pockets. 🙂

  • Gotta say dresses with pockets make me swoon too! 🙂

  • Thank you!!

  • crtfly

What a wonderful dress! I love the style and the print. You look so great in this dress.

It does remind me of Monet’s work. He is one of my very favorites but I sure hadn’t heard of him at E’s age. I wouldn’t have known who or what a Monet is. The only artists I knew of then were the ones my Mom liked and talked about. If E thought that the dress looked like rose petals under water, with that level of sensitivity and perception maybe she is a new iteration of Monet.

  • N. L.

This is one of my favorite dresses and the color/print is fabulous on you. I can’t wait to see more posts from you and here’s to getting that cast off soon (sooner than later).

  • Aimee

Count me in with those who think your hair is fab and the dress is made for you. I love it!

  • Wow, Emerson’s understanding of art goes deep! The Monet reference is impressive, but even the comparison to flower petals in water is a pretty amazing. Either way, you do, indeed look great. That Hobo Bag clutch is a really perfect touch.

  • I don’t think she knows any artist by name except Georgia O’Keeffe but she has a book about her and there’s a poster of her on a motorcycle in our downstairs bath. Knowing her at this age, she probably readily agreed to look smart and mature 😉

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Thanks so much Cammila!

  • Patti_NotDeadYetStyle

So, so pretty – I love prints like this. xo

  • Elona

I love the dress. But there’s something more here, you’re really glowing in this post.

  • Erica

This look is flawless, one of your best and most flattering. I’m a size 10 and, like a lot of curvier gals, I gravitate toward some retro silhouettes but am always afraid of looking too costume-y. This is a really good blend of old-school figure flattery and polish and with a more modern cut and print.

  • CozyCorner

Dress is NMS but looks lovely on you. On another note, I am down to one hand having hand surgery last week. I am sorry for what you are going through and couldn’t quite understand until now. Believe me folks, if you’ve never lost use of a main hand/arm, you really have no idea how difficult it is to manage. Allie you are a trooper and sending healing thoughts to you!

  • Thanks Patti! <3

  • Thanks Elona!

  • Thanks so much Erica!

  • It’s funny how people will say things like, “well at least you still have one!” and you don’t realize how important a hand is until you’re down one. I wish you the best during your healing process! My favorite tip to share is to open a jar, put it on a rubber or silicone mat on the floor, grip with your feet, and you should be able to open with your other hand! <3
