So excited it is Friday! This weekend I'll be having lunch with my Little Sister and my grand Little from my college sorority which will be aweosme since I haven't seen them in a very very long time. Also some other fun things on the pike. I'll be sure to post photos on Monday!

  1. Have you ever done a post on combining colors for a wardrobe? I know you did this, which deals more with neutrals, which I’m okay with. Where I get stuck is the more advanced version – for example, pairing colors like purple and orange like you did with the jacket & pashmina. I see people pull off these bold color combos but am stumped when I try to do it myself!

  2. I had this jacket in my JCrew cart for weeks and I was ready to buy it–it was gone. Seeing you in it makes me see what a mistake I made. Soooo cute!! Lucky and smart you for getting it. Enjoy it!!!

  3. Oh Gervy I would be happy to try! After work I ran to the market for a bottle of prosecco (good news at the Allie house) and got caught in the rain. Maybe it will help the jacket sprout little orange jacket seeds? 🙂

Better yet, maybe J. Crew will make the jacket again? They do have a wonderful collection of darling jackets right now and their color selection for sweaters right now (Dream and Cashmere) is drool-worthy!

  4. I give the final seal of approval. It’s unanimous – the jacket is perfect for you.

If you left it in your closet for a while with another jacket do you think it could breed some lovely little orange jackets for the rest of us?

  5. I guess the color is persimmon- more a red tinted orange. That color of orange – I can pull off. Not as well as I did with lighter hair, but it still works and does far better than a Crayola/Halloween orange.

And I wore my purple pashmina. Figured the avocado or purple would work but the purple was on the top of the pile on the coat hook 🙂

  6. That jacket was obviously worth the wait. You are so lucky you can pull off orange, no, ROCK orange. I look like death-warmed-over in it. What color pashmina did you wear with it?

  7. I enjoyed your Friday post! I can not wait till my 1 hour body massage tomorrow, with a manaicure and pedicure after! I hope you have a great Friday , please stop by my blog if you can!

    Happy Friday!

  8. Ye,s it does make you feel a bit like the kid in a Christmas Story all bundled up – arms sticking out from the layers.

Today though was warmer than yesterday and I just wore a pashmina.

When I used to take the Metro to work, I invested in a wool wrap/cape thingie. Sort of what eccentric older women wear. it was black and it got the job done on days when i already had lots of layers. I always wonder what happened to that thing… wonder if I left it at my old job….

  9. so, did you wear another coat on top of that for this wintry cold day in dc?
this is something i’m always confused about — i like the office look of a nice fitted jacket or blazer at work, but then it just is all akward when i put my winter coat on top of that.
    how do you handle this?
    thanks.

  10. LOVE the jacket. That orange-y red is one of my favorite colors because it’s so flattering on most people, even though it seems so out-there.
