Last night in my head I envisioned this outfit with a fab ivory and red dotted peplum top I got from Gwynnie Bee (see here on Brittany). I thought of the last time I wore a peplum with a blazer and felt it would be cute and temper the polka dots. Put it on, and while it WAS cute, it just didn't feel like me. So shocker of all shockers, I grabbed an Old Navy Vintage V-neck. I have three in this charcoal color, two white, one blue, one pink, and one black because these tees are just perfection for me. I wear them at least once a week if not more often. As for the peplum top… I'm already thinking of an outfit mixing it with some leopard!

  1. This is such a great and so, so classic outfit! I think I have that same Old Navy tee. I so desperately need a blazer so I can *cough*copy*cough* it.

  2. You look so, so chic. This has convinced me to get a white or cream blazer. I’m 4′ 11″ and short waisted – is that one petite or regular? I’m also size 12, so it doesn’t have to be petite for any other reasons! Do you always go petite with jackets or play it by ear?

    1. This one is regular. When they’re more of a slouchy, boxy, or boyfriend style I’ll wear regular but for suits and more tailored styles I do petite. I have a few blazers in my closet that I adore but never look quite right because they are regular. The shoulders and how it nips in at the waist are the important factors, as you know the sleeves and even length can be pretty easily altered by a tailor 🙂

  3. Great outfit! I love the look of a white blazer. And grey is just soft enough for the black and white to feel more “gamine” and efortless chic 😉 . For me, I envy those booties, I really need a pair that’s polished and enough low cut so my anckles don’t swim in it .

  4. I think this is one of my favorites of your outfits (that sentence structure looks completely wrong….). Anyway, I love the crisp white blazer and have wanted one for a while but I’m terrified I would dirty it up immediately.

    1. Gotta admit I haven’t had much luck with them either. After this picture I noticed a wine stain on it from when I wore this blazer to see Morrissey and then once I got to work I spilled coffee in it! Tide to Go pens usually work but with both stains this jacket is heading to the cleaners 🙂

  5. This is a fantastic outfit! Question about the Old Navy vintage tees: do they stretch out at the bottom? I love the look of them, but have found that oftentimes, Old Navy tees get really stretched out on the bottom hems, which is super annoying. I haven’t taken the plunge because I don’t want to be disappointed. I desperately need new tees, though!

    1. I haven’t found that, but do know these are thin, slouchy, stretchy tees. Instead with my chest I find the neck will stretch out a bit, and the shirt will sometimes ride up my rear and stay in place in front which is goofy looking. But that seems to mainly happen when sitting and doing things like carrying heavy bags on my shoulder. Think they’re $7 right now so it’s not too bad of a test. Oh, they are also a hair sheer; I wear with my skin colored tee short bra. Good luck on your tee shirt quest!

  6. Well I’m sure this would have looked cute with the peplum top, but it certainly looks awesome now. Also: seriously, a snug v-neck tee can and should be the basis for practically every outfit, like in the universe. So endlessly flattering|! You really make me wonder why I don’t have more of them…
