I spent three days in California for an exciting project and wasn't able to share what it was until now. I am in a Gwynnie Bee commercial, the clothing rental company! I was flown out to L.A. and spent two days shooting at a studio and exploring the city a bit. Check out my Gwynnie Bee commercial/infomercial:

How I Ended Up in a Gwynnie Bee Commercial

If you'd like, go ahead and fast forward to 19.22 in the Gwynnie Bee commercial to see my 15 minutes seconds of fame.ย  That super brief part I'm in took hours to shoot.ย  It was a really cool experience to see what goes on behind the scenes to create an infomercial like this.ย

The space seen in the video is a huge multi-room loft at the top of a building in Los Angeles. There was a dressing room set up, where they had potential outfits and accessories for each of us. Being petite, my selection was a bit more limited, and they wanted me to be in higher heeled shoes so the contrast between me and the other taller commercial models wasn't as drastic.

I tried on several looks they had pulled for me, and they wanted to be sure all of us looked good together without being matchy-matchy. Once the outfits were picked, makeup artists and hair stylists gave us the glam treatment.

We changed into a range of outfits and did similar interview segments in a different order, with different model combinations. We also did individual interviews to use as video and/or voiceover. We had no idea what, if any, of our content would be used, but we were all paid the same amount.

At the two-day shoot, I met so many wonderful bloggers and online influencers I only knew virtually (and all that I met were super nice in person).ย Women like Kristine of Trendy Curvy and Rachel of Lovely in L.A. are even more awesome in person than they seem online (and as you can tell from this screenshot from the Gwynnie Bee commercial, much taller than I!).

I also met many amazing women who are not online influencers but fellow Gwynnie Bee users, who were incredibly cool, stylish, and nice, like Allison Davis, a business consultant. And to spend time with the people behind the scenes, including Gwynnie Bee founder Christine Hunsicker, was amazing!

Those of us models not based in L.A. all stayed at the same hotel, and we received group transportation to and from the airport and the shoot. With Los Angeles traffic, we had a lot of time to get to know one another and to become friends. We ended up going out to dinner and having drinks together and sharing contact info so we can stay in touch. A few of us also had breakfast together the last day and were even on the same flight home.

This was only my second time ever visiting California, and it was too short. I look forward to returning and seeing more of Los Angeles beyond the windows of a shiny black Ford Expedition!

I've talked about Gwynnie Bee a LOT over the past years. I've been a member all this time, and I see the company only improving its selection and service.
