Thank you everyone for all the wonderful well wishes, thoughts and prayers for my sister! She came out of surgery great, they were able to get 100% of the tumor. She will be placed in a rehab center (hopefully today if they have a room available) to help her gain strength in her right leg/foot but is otherwise in fantastic shape. Our friend and I have gotten her on the Hunger Games trilogy and yesterday evening she was 1/3 through Catching Fire. She's ready to get the heck out of the hospital, which is always a good sign!

It's weird being back in the office; though I only took four days of PTO it feels as though I have been away for a month. Quite the load of emails to get through, and I almost missed my station on the Metro!

I have to give props again to Nordstrom brand tights – this morning I realized my husband washed and dried my tights in the machine – my two pairs of regular denier DKNY tights both ended up destroyed in the process, while these Nordstrom tights look as though they were only babied by hand. Not only that, this pair is from last year! Totally worth the money!

  1. I’m so happy to see you in that Talbot’s blouse. When I saw it online I couldn’t imagine it on a “real” person – well, you’re wearing it wonderfully!

  2. That’s a beautiful blouse but I’d be afraid I’d end up with bit pit stains.  Charmeuse and I are not friends.  Glad your sister is doing well.

Love your blog, I always read but this if my first comments.  I’m also a blogger, a WW, and a wannabe fashionista.

  3. Nope, the sleeves slide away right at the elbows so they don’t get in the way at all! Only issue is what you can see in the pictures – the blouse itself slides up and gets stuck between my neck and breast. I ended up safety-pinning the blouse to the lining of my skirt to keep it from slipping all the way out of the skirt. 🙂

  4. What a stunning blouse! Are you finding the sleeves okay during your work day, or do they get in your way at all? (I’m imagining myself pulling them on desk items, etc.). Really beautiful though, in both the design and the colour. Also – very glad to hear that your sister is doing so well. 🙂

  5. So glad to hear your sister is doing well post-surgery… wishing her a speedy recovery 🙂 And this outfit had me almost audibly “oooooh!”ing in my cubicle. Those sleeves are fantastic, and the color? Oooh la la. Especially with the leopard. Looking snazzy, lady.

  6. I like the sleeves of the blouse although that shade of green is not one of my personal faves. Seems like it’s all over the place these days though.

I have found that the tights that seem to last the longest for me are ones I pick up on sale at various chain stores. Got a great pair at Dress Barn that have lasted two years so far and are still going strong and another pair at Claire’s that have held up well. And I ALWAYS wash and dry mine in the machines. No handwashing for me; not for a $4 pair of tights anyway.

  7. It’s funny because the shirt is actually less shiny than my silk blouses I regularly wear.  I got the top expecting it to be one for nights out, but seeing it in person it is far more subdued… guess it’s the crazy sleeves that is making people feel it’s too evening.

  8. So happy to hear that your sister is on the mend and hope that her physical therapy brings her the strength she needs.  I am going through PT myself for my knee.  So far, so good!  I love the color of the blouse but have to agree with the previous poster that it is more suitable for a night out dancing.  But the skirt, tights and shoes are so pretty with anything you wear!

  9. this is a great outfit on you!  but in my opinion, the great kind of outfit you save for a dinner out, and not so suited for the office — my opinion is probably based on my personal aversion to animal prints and shiny silks at the office.  but if you feel good that’s all that matters 🙂 all my best wishes to you, your sister and your family during her recovery
