Another Late Day...

But not as bad since it's casual Friday.

Blue merino v-neck from J. Crew. Necklace of sea glass and various beads (shades of blues, greens and peach). Dark cotton denim jeans from The Gap Outlet store. My teal suede wedges. Pretty basic and dull.

Makeup - same i.d. Bare Escentuals foundation and concealer, a touch of Almay bronzer to make me look alive, some Nars orgasm on the apples of my cheeks. Fawn shadow, touch of pale gray int he crease, charcoal at the lash lines. My tan/tawny whatever Sally Hansen lip gloss. Two coats of mascara.

And now you see my winter attire. Turquoise pashmina as a scarf, brown sueded 7/8 length single breasted coat from Express that I got for less than $10.00.

Ah, the story of the suede coat. I was working at Express in 2000 and a woman came to the counter. She had a coat to return. Her mother had passed away and they were cleaning out her house, and they found this coat. It was never worn, the tags stillon, the receipt in the pocket. The receipt was from 1993. The coat in 1993 was $279.00. It is brown suede, notch collar, three buttons, single breasted, hangs to below the knee. Great tailored fit, Thinsulate lining. Size large, and I worked amongst women stressing because 1/2 is too big.

So no sale was final in those days of Express, so we gave the daughter her $279.00 and figured - we can't put it on the floor because it is seven years old. We would have to damage it out. I asked if I could buy it. I know we are allowed to buy past season (the term is LY for Last year) clothing. The rate is usually $9.99 for LY tops, sweaters and such. I offered to buy the coat - how much would it be? The contacted the District Manager. She said $9.99. I snatched it immediately and that is how I ended up with this fabulous brown suede coat for less than $10.00!
