Dress: Myne | Bag: Hobo Bags (similar) | Shoes: Nine West | Glasses: Zenni Optical | Bracelet: Had forever (similar) | Lipstick: Revlon ‘Certainly Red' | Ear Cuffs: Etsy (here and here)

I wrote about this dress in this post. A lot of you wanted to see me in it since I am a very different shape from the model, but it has been too cold to bust out this lightweight silk dress until now. When I bought it I figured I'd style it with peeptoe ankle booties and my wide silver metal plate belt, but once spring arrived I decided I liked it a bit more stripped down. The dress is by the brand Myne, and each time I read the label I say, “It's MINE!” in the whiny voice I use when I read Emerson her book, The Boy Who Wouldn't Share.  As an FYI, this is a size 10; I originally got a 12 but found it too long for my petite stature.  The 10 fits comfortably but the belt that came with it is too small (no biggie, the belt is kind of ugly and cheap looking).

If you signed up for my monthly Style File newsletter you know that I recently got these glasses. They're huge, they're bright, and they're a lot of fun for a very low price (hello prescription lenses under $30!). I've been wearing a lot of red lately – I've been doing a red lip almost all winter and have been choosing OPI's Big Apple Red as my nail polish of choice for almost a year. It made sense if I was going to buy some funky glasses to have them in my current signature shade!

Looking at this pic I have just realised we wear the same reading glasses… and my favourite red lippie is similar… and we have the same haircut… and a similar shape and style. Allie, I may be morphing into you! (What’s that they say about imitation? 😉 ) You continue to inspire me – love your work.

[…] it just seemed so contrived, and when was I going to wear this skirt ever again? I decided to wear my Myne “Heidi” dress, I knew it was easy and comfortable and fun and I wouldn’t be going against my advice on the blog […]

You look amazing in this dress!

  • anya April 16, 2015

I love love the look. And the glasses are fab. I also recently bought a pair of hipster looking black glasses and while my hubs and colleagues love em, my familiy is meh. Myself i love them, but now i contemplate a second pair. In red:)

  • Glenda April 16, 2015

    Those glasses are hideous.

  • Melissa Gier April 15, 2015

That dress is definitely YOURS! It fits you beautifully and is very, very flattering.

  • Pat April 14, 2015

I never comment, but Wow, you look fabulous – strong, sexy and confident!! Awesome!

  • FancyStuff&PrettyThings April 14, 2015

I love that dress. The draping is fantastic!

  • Aimee April 14, 2015

I can’t say enough how much I love the dress! It looks great on you.
It really sucks when you have to wear progressive lenses because all of a sudden the prices goes through the roof. So it’s one pair of glasses for me and that’s it. I wish I could have several back-up pairs in fun colors. Does anyone out there have a solution for the outrageous racket prices of progressive lenses? Any online places you trust to do high quality work as well? I’ve done lots of searches and never come up with anything.

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 14, 2015

I’m curious if others have suggestions, Aimee. My mom also wears progressive lenses and her glasses cost a small fortune. Thank you for asking!

      • Aimee April 14, 2015

I knew I couldn’t be the only one. A small fortune is right, even with insurance!

  • Danielle April 13, 2015

    So cute!

  • Michelle Van Ellis April 13, 2015

Gosh, I’m thinking I just need to ask you before I buy anything! I just picked up some Jack Purcell frames from Woot thinking they are a great bargain but I still have to pay to get my prescription put in. I know, every time I go to buy something fashion wise I need to ask WWAD?

Love the dress on you by the way!

Every time my prescription changes I buy frames that an optician or ophthalmologist does for me – pricier but high quality and usually lighter and more comfortable frames. Then I have all my info – my prescription, pupillary distance, etc. and I go online to places like Coastal.com and Zenni and buy fun frames, backup frames to have in the car or office, etc. These are fun but not nearly as high quality as the ones i got from my eye doctor, it’s like the difference between Target sunglasses and designer ones – far away who cares but in the long run, one will hold up better.

  • Emily April 13, 2015

LOVE THE GLASSES! I have been looking for nice ones for forever (finally splurged on Marc by Marc Jacobs, I have a tricky prescription and small face and they are the only ones that don’t look horrid!) but these are totally badass and you look great in them. Ps is the dress tapered at the bottom or is it just how it hangs? For a bit I wasn’t sure if it was a dress or a jumpsuit!

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 13, 2015

Thanks Emily! And it’s a dress, but is cut in this way, even with a split at the hem to appear to be harem pants/jumpsuit. Very unique!

  • Pam S. April 13, 2015

I’ll hop on the Zenni Optical bandwagon. They’re a great way to try out different styles for cheap. My vision insurance gives me $200/year to spend on lenses and frames. I can get a bunch of different styles from Zenni, including prescription sunglasses for $200. Those red frames and lips are awesome!

  • Ruth Slavid April 13, 2015

it does look fantastic and I love the glasses. Isn’t it odd that the dress fits perfectly on your waist and yet the belt doesn’t fit – the oddities of fashion. It’s like my much worse bugbear – when a skirt fits perfectly but the lining is too tight! I do envy you being able to wear something so light. We have been promised some warm weather in London but it hasn’t arrived yet.

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 13, 2015

Well yesterday was the first day I could carry such a thing off, and even then I’d likely still need a shawl. More of a “taxi to table” sort of look until another month or so. And I encounter the belt issue all the time, the dress fits like a dream and the belt is too small! So weird!

  • DC Celine April 13, 2015

I’m going to second Alison. I bought it on her recommendation, and this dress is so amazing. Comfortable, different, easy, and works on everyone. I’m a totally different body type than Alli, and it works on me, too.

    Go buy it!

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 13, 2015

I hate to wear the same dress as another woman at the same event, but we really need a picture of the two of us together in our dresses! 🙂

      • DC Celine April 13, 2015

Agree! I got navy, and we can style it differently. Also, it’s a “go to a great new restaurant or family dinner where you can eat as much as you want” dress.

  • Lonestarmommy April 13, 2015

I’m a new follower! I have to say, that looks amazing on you! Great site and it’s been very helpful planning our trip to Italy. Take care

I love Zenni Optical and those glasses look great on you! Also, I will be studying all of your bonnaroo posts to plan for camping (for the first time EVER) at Firefly in DE. 🙂

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 13, 2015

Oh sweet! Have a blast – many friends of mine have gone to Firefly but none have camped while there. Psyched for your adventure!

  • Patti April 13, 2015

That a fabulous dress and look for you, Allie! Great lippie too.

  • Kaffesoester April 13, 2015

What an incredible dress! You look fantastic – and gorgeous lips too!!!

  • Susan B. April 13, 2015

Oh wow, love this look on you! The shape of that dress is amazing.

  • greedygrechen April 13, 2015

LOVE that on you. and the red glasses…a perfect look 🙂

  • The Adored Life April 13, 2015

I hate the belts that come on dresses! They are always so cheap and break/never fit right. I’d rather have a tag that just suggests the idea of a belt instead of a cheap on like that.

    The Adored Life

    • Allie at Wardrobe Oxygen April 13, 2015

I’ve only once liked the belt; it was a MICHAEL Michael Kors dress and I never wore it with that belt but gosh if I haven’t worn the belt with other outfits at least a dozen times over the past couple of years! But usually they are a throwaway.
