Black Ponte DressAnn Taylor LOFT
Black Belt – Ann Taylor (no longer available)
Black PeeptoesFranco Sarto
Black Ponte Collarless Jacket – Banana Republic (no longer available)
Silver Cuff

I really like this dress from LOFT – it has that tulip shape and an exposed zipper in back, and POCKETS! It came with its own belt – elastic with gathered fabric over it and a hematite-colored buckle. However I liked it better with this belt which I have owned for a couple years – gave it more definition and was more bold of a look.

It was a bit chilly this morning, instead of covering up the dress with a standard coat, I decided to pair it with my trusty Banana Republic ponte jacket.  Love ponte in how it usually matches ponte-based garments even from other brands and years!

What I don't love are these shoes.  Each time I wear them I remember how much I hate them – they hurt, my pinky toe gets pinched between the footbed and the leather side.  Horrible horrible shoes.  I am surprised as that I usually love Franco Sarto.  And these don't hurt due to heel height – that's actually comfortable.  They are just shaped that my foot slides forward (even with FootPetals), my heel slips even though the shoe technically fits, it pinches in that weird space between footbed and shoe, and they just are awkward in many ways.  I wish I could return them, for I think today will be the last time I wear them.

Good hair day and these pics do not do it justice.  I washed and dried my hair yesterday, this morning I hit all over with a large curling iron and then used Salon Grafix dry shampooir?t=whaevewomneei 20&l=btl&camp=213689&creative=392969&o=1&a=B001KYQMGQ and ended up with what I desired from dry shampoo – body, lift, shape without looking dry or strange.  Big fan!

  1. Love this outfit! As we say in our office, a good dress with pockets makes it a great dress! Ignore the hate and keep up the blog!

  3. You look oh so chic in that LBD. It looks great on you! Too bad about the shoes…it’s always sad to have a breakup when you have spent so much money on them.

  4. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just think this is a very poorly made shoe. I slide down into it because it’s a weird shape, then the pinching between the side of the shoe and the footbed is awful, it left a blood blister on my toe. And it’s not as much as that it blisters, that I slide down even with a traction insert. They fit like really cheaply made shoes. Someone who has a very flat foot, long toes and heels as wide as their ball would probably love them. My piggies don’t. 🙁

However I may get that stuff for other shoes in my closet!

  5. You look great! I am a serious black hater and I too tried to find that dress.

Have you ever tried one of those blister stop (mine is called Blistop) products? It’s sprayed on, or I believe Dr. Scholl has a glide on, protetctor to supposedly keep blisters from forming. I was dubious when I bought it but it really works. It kept some instant “blister shoes” I have from being so painful and I find it helps with almost any shoe.

    Just a thought!

  6. Thanks to your blog I came to know of some wonderful fabrics including Ponte knit. Love the dress on you. The length is very flattering. You look fabulous.
