Back to work! I went on Friday but it totally wore me out and I think made me sick again. However yesterday other than a horrible cough, I am feeling good. I still wanted to be comfortable, so I went pretty casual. I just got this poncho from Goddis and I adore it – it's like curling up in a cozy throw but looking chic! And these jeans from Lucky Brand are so comfortable – they are full of stretch, lightweight, and really hold their shape throughout the day!

Aww thanks! Love a stretchy pair of jeans that doesn’t stretch out throughout the day!

The commenter and I ended up chatting via email and I understand what she was trying to say. I don’t admit that I am a budget-friendly blog, but lately I have been wearing more expensive pieces than I have in the past. Wendy, I adore you, and thank you for supporting my blog and my message. You rock!

I’m sorry, but this is bizarre to me. I’ve seen this kind of complaint before and I think people need a dose of reality. Your blog isn’t called Wardrobe Oxygen on a Budget. You’re not a magazine about budget living; you’re a real person. I think the reader needs to understand that, and that it’s not really appropriate for her to ask you to make YOUR wardrobe revolve around HER needs. She can certainly search out the many, many blogs about dressing on a budget. Google is a useful thing.

The commenter asked to have her comment removed because it showed her full name.  She had a great question so I have pasted it below:

“I haven’t been subscribed very long and this is my first comment.  I don’t want to sound negative, because I really like your blog, but all of your items are SO expensive!  I love this outfit but when I started to look into the pieces I just gasped.  That poncho is $192 ON SALE.  Your jeans cost $99.  My entire outfit most days cost way less than $99, including shoes. Could you please do some more budget friendly looks?”

Hi Maurie, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! Just to let you know, these two pieces were gifted to me by the companies (that’s why they say c/o). They are expensive, but they are great quality, and I am lucky to have received them as a gift for I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford on my own.

I don’t claim to be a budget-friendly blog, but I don’t have a limitless wardrobe budget. For items that get a lot of wear and years of use (classic pieces, shoes, bags) I will spend more knowing that with that price I get quality and the knowledge that the piece will withstand multiple washings and wears and fashion trends. However, I am one who believes you can find quality at any pricepoint and you will often see me in pieces from Target, Payless, discount retailers like Nordstrom Rack and Marshall’s. My style is where I would rather have fewer pieces that cost more and have more classic style and quality, than a bigger closet of lower-priced pieces.

Thanks for reading, and for subscribing and do stick around. I promise most of my outfits aren’t this expensive, and you will also see me re-wearing pieces over and over in different ways! 🙂

No worries! I’m just jealous that you have them and I don’t – can’t get them for love nor money over here without paying extortionate shipping. I have a watch on eBay but nothing has come up yet.

And all that moaning and groaning I was doing on Twitter to you… I hadn’t even tried to stretch them yet! Thanks for listening to my rants!

I love this look, and I’m so glad the boots worked out for you in the end.  I know how much you love those babies! x

You look fabulous!  My uncle used the old expression, “You look like a tall drink of water”  — a very high compliment!

I love you in those jeans.  Elegant and chic.

Thanks Patti! Need to get them shortened so I can wear them with more than my platform boots! 🙂

That’s a great look.  I have a poncho lurking on my rails unloved, and you’ve inspired me to take it out and give it some attention.  I can see now what I might do with it.  Thanks for the inspiration!
