Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale: My Picks for 2019

The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale is here. There are almost 300 pages in the Women's Sale; I've done the work for you, went through them and curated what I think are the best deals, the best looking items, and the pieces that will have the most lasting style to get your money's worth with a focus on pieces that still have a decent size selection. Below I will have some items with text links but all the picks in that category in a carousel widget. Scroll through, if you see an item you like click on the photo and a separate browser window will open with more detail. Note that some items in the carousel may say sold out; that doesn't mean it's completely sold out but maybe one color. The collages have numbers in them; the corresponding item will have the same number next to it in parentheses.

Activewear and Swimwear

I always use these sales to get quality activewear for less. Zella is one of my favorite brands for fit, quality, and price and it's often available during the Nordstrom Half-Yearly sale. The Zella Live-In 7/8 Legging is my absolute favorite, I have pairs that are years old that still fit and look new. Here is a link for them in black; this link has three colors and is a style with a pocket. Zella also makes great tops like this athletic t-shirt.

A beautiful blue swimsuit (7) that is cute, gets great reviews for fit and style, AND is on sale; sorry ladies plus sizes only. Another great swimsuit that is sexy yet modest and uber flattering. And a third one-piece swimsuit that will remain chic for years to come. A simple black swim bottom for $35.40 with tummy control that will coordinate with tops from any retailer (plus sizes only). Office Attire

This is a good sale for office wardrobe basics like blouses and shells that look great on their own or under a jacket. This drape top is a classic, and a style I always had in my work closet and would wear year-round. A similarly draped top but this one has a bit of a sleeve. A great sleeveless sweater that would work great with work trousers or chino shorts, styled over a white shirt or tee or worn under a jacket. A short sleeve wrap top that creates a great shape and looks chic untucked with work trousers or skinny jeans. A relaxed blouse that looks great untucked with jeans or ankle pants, or tucked into trousers and under a suit (regular and plus sizes). This short-sleeved blouse with a side tuck is so chic and a fab price. A black and ivory brushstroke print shell that's chic all on its own but perfect under a suit or soft jacket.

Also great in this sale are pants. Slim, straight, ankle, wide-leg… you name it there are great versions at great prices. This one has a side zip, clean lines, comes in three colors, is a cotton/viscose blend classic. The same pant in a few other colors. This slim ankle pant from Karen Kane looks awesome (plus sizes only). A chic wide-leg trouser for the office from Boden. A classic ankle pant from Halogen (1) in some of the prettiest colors. Pretty perfect ponte ankle pants for less than $50 (plus sizes only).

Now is a good time to get blazers and jackets for less. Love the plaid of this plus size boyfriend blazer. I own this navy blazer (10) in red and love it. Another double-breasted blazer in three great colors (9; plus size only). This floral poplin blazer is so cute; dress up with ivory trousers or dress down with your favorite jeans. I like the shape of this knit riding jacket-style blazer (plus size only). This short drapey trench-inspired jacket is a cool relaxed blazer alternative. The perfect weekend or office cardigan (plus sizes only).

Accessories

There are some good deals in costume jewelry. I own these colorful hoops in pink and have worn them several times on the blog. These amber long drop earrings (11) are positively stunning and a great price for a popular brand.

Scarves are a great buy during sales like this. This one is 100% silk and on sale for less than $35.

Also great deals on bags. I own this fringed statement bag, bought it full price and don't regret it. I've used this same beaded clutch in many capsule wardrobes as it's a perfect way to glam up a suit or black sheath for evening. Blush is a great spring and summer neutral and looks so chic on this leather hobo bag (15).

Footwear

A pair of trendy sneakers keeps you comfortable while looking chic. Pair with pants, jeans, leggings, shorts, and even skirts and dresses. The Nike Cortez is a classic and comes in several colors. I owned these sneakers from Cole Haan – uber comfortable, low profile, and chic.

Great shoes for special occasions: a strappy heel in white, black or gold for about $65; the perfect wedge for outdoor weddings and comfortable work days available in several colors.

I adore Sofft, their shoes are so comfy and this wedge which comes in several colors (13) looks perfect for everything from pants and jeans to sundresses. The hot pink suede heeled sandals I keep wearing are Vince Camuto and they are some of the most comfortable shoes. These look equally as comfortable (2). The same shoe in a different color. I always have a pair of leopard haircalf pumps in my closet, they are the unexpected neutral that completes so many looks. These are on sale for less than $55. These are some of the most comfortable flats (4) while also looking super cute. The same shoe in a couple other colors.

It's summer, which means it's time for sandals! I'm all about finding the balance between comfort and style and just got these sandals from Native. They're kind of wacky, but have a hint of arch support, adjustable straps, and are lower profile than Birkenstocks. I love these Dr. Scholl's that are made for getting wet and wearing to the pool.

A classic black leather riding boot that comes in regular and wide widths and is on sale for less than $150. A super chic tall heeled boot lined in shearling and 50% off.

Dresses and Jumpsuits

Gorgeous plus size dresses for work, weekend, weddings, and other social events. I adore the color combination in this beauty Maggy London dress. The print of this off the shoulder maxi from City Chic is phenomenal. This blue crepe cropped wide-leg jumpsuit (5) can be styled with a blazer and flats or statement earrings and heeled sandals. I love this off the shoulder midi dress, also from City Chic. The same dress in a gorgeous print the color of a sunset. I own this wrap dress from Halogen in a floral; I love the fabric and the fit. This jumpsuit gets raves reviews for fit, comfort, and ease of getting on and off. A pretty printed long-sleeved maxi dress on sale for less than $40.

An easy way to glam up is with a sparkly evening twinset. Pair this with a skirt, pants, dressy culottes, or even dark jeans for an elegant effect. (plus sizes only) These pants from Karen Kane would be a great pairing.

A crisp and classic summer shirtdress (14) for work or weekend. Another chic shirtdress, this one a more modern silhouette in plus sizes. A black and white wrap dress you can rock at the office or a wedding (plus sizes only).

Some straight sized dresses: I have loved this green dress so much this may be my third time sharing it; glad it's now on sale! This dress from Boden is retro-sweet and 40% off. This shirtdress in scuba fabric is so unique; pair with pumps or flats for work but it would also dress up beautifully for a wedding or social event.

Lingerie and Sleepwear

This sale is great for getting quality brand underpinnings for less. Nothing wrong with them, they're usually just putting discontinued colors on sale to make room for the upcoming season. This helps you get deals on pieces like this beautiful Freya bra (8), these highly rated briefs from Chantelle, this classic Elomi bra, this Wacoal bra that I own and love, this Wacoal underwire contour bra, this Chantelle plunge bra, this hibiscus-colored bra from Freya, and one of my favorite styles and brands of underwear.

This sale has some great pieces in sleepwear, loungewear, and intimates. Nothing better than a caftan in the summer except a caftan that is on sale for under $33. A plush terry robe with great reviews on sale for less than $40. J. Crew's iconic “Vintage” pajamas in two colors and 33% off. I had this robe before and it's the most luxe jersey!

Outerwear

We all know rainshowers aren't isolated in the month of April; this packable raincoat is light, cheery, and effective while being less than $40. This classic trench in a chic army green color is also a good buy. A nice raincoat from London Fog in plus sizes. I have this leather jacket, I paid full price and don't regret it. Get it on sale, you're welcome. This similar jacket in faux leather is under $50 and gets great reviews. A faux leather one in plus sizes for less than $100.

Jeans and Shorts

There are some great brands and styles of jeans in this Nordstrom sale. I tried Curves 360 by NYDJ recently and loved the quality and fit; here are some skinny jeans in regular and plus sizes from the line. A pull-on bootcut in regular and plus sizes also from Curves 360. Also from NYDJ, these skinny ankle jeans (18) have cooling technology and lift the rear. I find these wide-leg white jeans from NYDJ (16) to be super chic and they get great reviews. These high-waist skinnies from NYDJ are a fab wash. The ‘Barbara' is one of my favorite cuts from NYDJ and it's on sale in black. The ‘Barbara' is another favorite; here is the link for it in straight sizes; the link for it in plus sizes. Kut from the Kloth is fantastic quality and fit denim; their boyfriend jeans look great and get great reviews.

Casual Tops

I have this J. Crew striped shirt and love it. A pretty perfect Breton stripe tee (12), available in a variety of colors for less than $25. Pair it with this cute cotton skirt from Boden.
