Just hearing Harlem Shake transports me back to 2013 and wearing these outfits! I was working in DC and was really into full midi skirts, statement necklaces and leopard print shoes. I’d still wear most of these looks, but style them differently. Tall boots or leopard pumps were my default; now I’d try a sneaker. I’d break up the all black with some color or pattern, and would try playing with proportion (half or full tucking a top into straight or wide leg pants).

My point is, nothing in your closet needs to be tossed because it’s a certain age or a certain “passé” trend. But to keep your look fresh, challenge yourself to restyle pieces in new to you ways. You may be pleasantly surprised by the result!

I hurt my foot and couldn’t imagine any shoes this day except Birkenstocks. It was cold, gray, and rainy and I decided to combat the day with plenty of color. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I dress for me, not strangers and I hope you do too! We’re grown-ass women, we’ve earned the right to wear whatever we want! 🙌

Clothes don’t have to be complicated. A Breton stripe top with straight dark wash jeans are a classic and perfect for so many situations.

The top is @jcrew; I’ve had it for years but they have a similar one this spring. The jeans are @lovechicos, one of my favorite denim destinations for quality and fit. I added @birkenstock sneakers because I knew I’d be on my feet and walking a lot; these are so comfy and supportive.

Dress up the shoes and add a blazer. Layer with a colorful cardigan or a leather jacket. Choose a light wash for a more casual vibe; white denim to elevate the look. Consider adding a scarf at the throat or through the belt buckles for a pop of color and pattern mixing!

Whoever said white can’t be worn after Labor Day is stuck in the 1900’s. It’s 2023 and style doesn’t come from what you wear (or when) but how you wear it.

The best style tip I can give you for 2023 is break every style rule that was ingrained into since childhood. They’re a quick way to look dated and the long con into feeling shame for not being wealthy, white, and slim.

I recently got these white wide-leg jeans from @talbotsofficial and wasn’t going to wait for warm weather to rock them. I chose a favorite turtleneck sweater (@lovechicos) and leather boots (@naturalizer). The dark color and obviously cold-weather pieces make the white purposeful.

I Alison-ized it with some bold pops of color (coat is @anntaylor tote is @talbotsofficial) which brightened a cold gray winter day. 🌈

Guess my favorite color 🍊

I love color in general but my absolute favorite is orange. And when we’re in the gray days of winter there is no color that is a better pick-me-up for me!

The cotton sweater and leather tote in this fantastic shade of orange are from the @talbotsofficial new arrivals. I’m wearing L in this sweater and it’s loose enough to fit over a turtleneck or other layer, but not baggy.

The jeans are @landsend and in my most recent #capsulewardrobe they’re stretchy and launder great. I’m wearing a 14 and chose the 30” inseam. This is the middle wash.

The coat is the most gorgeous color of fuchsia and from @anntaylor and while the coat is out of stock Ann Taylor is one of my favorite places for gorgeous outerwear and bold colors. The coat is XL petite; another reason I love Ann is for having petites over a size 10!

The scarf as a belt is old from @cabiclothing the boots are a discontinued style from @drmartensofficial the rug is @rugs_usa the sofa is @albanyparkhome the yellow pillow is @amazon the printed one is by the artist @zoeschlacter the necklaces are @etsy and gifts.
