It's hard to shop vintage online when you're not a small dress size. Size charts have changed drastically over the years and there's not a lot of quality selection when you're cusp or plus size. This dress is one piece, reminiscent of a hospital gown as the front has two ties you tie at the ribcage, and then at the waist against the body. Then you take the two ties on the back piece and tie in front as an empire-waist height bow. This dress likely would fit anywhere from an 8 to 14 because of these ties and was advertised and labeled as a Large. Two Potatoes is a brand that is still around today, but doesn't carry any dresses in this style; the seller said this was from the '70s. I'm glad I took a chance, this dress is so unusual and perfect to have a kiki or a summer party!

  1. When I was working in the costume shop in college, one of the girls found a dress like this at the Salvation Army. We used it to draft a pattern and that summer we all had funky maxi dresses in fun prints. It was a quick, easy project. I wonder if I kept a copy of that pattern…

Have you found that this Etsy seller or Etsy sellers in general are willing to haggle on prices?
