my wardrobe today 068

A cold and EARLY morning.  Seriously, look through the blinds on my doors – that is DARKNESS and this was taken just before I left the house.  My mom is a saint, was at my house at 5:30 this morning to hang out while my husband and I both dashed off to work.

I was cold, cranky, and getting dressed in the dark so I wore something cozy and familiar.  I actually wore this same tee and skirt on Saturday with sandals and my black coral necklace.

Cardigan – Ann Taylor (last year)
Tee – Banana Republic (last year – they don't seem to have it any more which is a SHAME – seems like the closest is the modern tee.  They had pima tanks and pima scoop neck and back tees and I have several and adore them)
Denim Skirt – Ann Taylor
BootsBern by DUO Boots
Necklace and Bracelets – Ann Taylor

Hair is second day, large sections curled with curling iron.  Makeup is my classic look with the Revlon ColorStay shadow quad in Neutral Khakis.

I wish DUO had these same boots with a slightly higher heel and another inch or so in height so it was a traditional shaft height and more flattering.  If so, I would buy them in every color.  These are the only boots I have found that not only fit my calf and thick ankles, but they are comfortable and supportive.  However time and time again i have communicated with DUO, they have suggested some other boot, I get it and it doesn't fit.

I have given up on DUO Boots, and write this as I have a pair of their Imperia boots mocking me from the bookcase in my office.  They are never worn, not even zipped up on my legs because I can't even slip them on unzipped, they fit so differently from the Berns.  These are the 5th pair that DUO SWORE would fit like the Berns but don't.  And I couldn't afford to return this darn things because they shipped them late and they arrived at my office while I was on maternity leave, causing me to not be able to try them on until after the return period.

If you are a size 39/US 8 and have a 48 calf width and slim ankles and want a stylish pair of black leather boots, send me an email and we can negotiate a good price on these brand new boots!

  1. Ooh! Love this outfit.
I wish it was feeling like fall here in central Texas.
I am ready for cooler weather so I can layer and wear my boots!

  2. Love the outfit, like Allie says those boots are so cute! I’ve had my eye on these bern boots for a while.

I’ve been a customer of DUO in the past and always found their advice a great help in deciding on styles that would fit my shape. I recently bought brindisi on their recommendation they fit perfectly and I have worn them every day since 🙂

  3. Gervy, so great to hear from you! Do know it takes 9 months to make a baby and like 19 months to make yourself a human again. I am JUST getting back into the grove. And it’s okay, it has been a heck of an awesome learning experience these two years. So hang in there with your gorgeous little one, and your time and energy will return! 🙂

  4. Hello Gorgeous Allie,

Just wanted to check in and say HI! and I have missed you! I think of you and Emerson Elaine often and wonder how you are doing, but haven’t managed to get on the computer very much. I am more in awe of you than ever when I wonder how you manage to maintain a baby, full-time job AND three blogs?! I feel even MORE tired just thinking about it…

Anyway, good to see you looking so well and happy. Going to try and catch up a bit now and check in more often over my muesli. xoxo

  5. I love this outfit! If I could just replicate the same thing into my closet, I’d be a happy girl!

I’ve given up on boots in general – my ankles are just too skinny for any of them to look right. :0[ But I love the look of boots!

  6. Ah well, you win some, you lose some. I could have spent the same on 3-4 pairs of other shoes that would have been worn one and then hated because they hurt, fell apart, etc. Hopefully these can go to someone else who will love them!

  7. Thanks everyone!

I do love my hair, I need to post about Kathleen and her fabulous skillz!

It has become quite warm here in DC – office window open, so the cardigan is a bit much but it’s quite cozy and will probably cause me to drift off on my Metro ride home! 🙂

  8. Oh those boots are CUUUTE!

Nope, I don’t get a cut, unless I link to Amazon. I do get one then, if you click and buy that… or even go and buy something else from Amazon.

I just link to sites because I want it to be easier for you guys if you want to see it in detail or make a purchase yourself. If it makes your lives easier, I am happy and not too worried about getting a cut. 🙂

  9. I LOVE your outfit!!!
If you put a link in your post and we buy it directly that way (like your necklace – that I LOVE – if there were a link to Ann Taylor and I bought it that way) would you get a ‘cut’? I would hope so and would feel sooo much better buying the necklace knowing I was ‘helping a blog friend’ =).
Also re the boots. I’ve admired your Bern Boots sooo many times. I haven’t bought them yet because I haven’t been able to find an American company that sells them and what if I have to return them… I too have wide calves and am desperate for compfy shoes/boots! I just bought these from zappos thinking I can return them for free if they don’t work.
