My goodness it was cold this morning! While my husband strapped Emerson into her carseat and got his camera ready, I huddled next to the car drinking hot coffee, bundled in my pashmina (coat in the car for after the shoot). Now it's raining. DC has such crazy weather, just this weekend I was running errands without a jacket and the sun was shining!

And not fashion related, but so awesome and important – you HAVE to watch this video.  Hopefully it will inspire you to visit your local bookstore and purchase a real book with real paper pages.  There is nothing more lovely than flipping through a real book, and having a library to go back to so you can revisit dear “friends” whenever you desire!

  1. I really like this whole look. The pop of color in your belt and lipstick bring the whole outfit together.

As a book lover I know there is nothing like a a real book!  I am holding out as long as possible on buying a kindle or ipad partially because I love real books so much.

  2. I actually don’t have a ton – orange (cost like $5 at Target), aqua, hot pink, leopard, black with pave buckle that I have had for 15 yrs. And then for bigger belts I have dark red, two black and one brown. I keep thinking I need to get more! 🙂

  3. Love Love LOVE that video 🙂

And now onto the outfit hehe I like how the lips match the belt. You have a great collection of colorful belts… I need to step my belt game up!

  4. I usually err on the side of too loose so they rest on my hips. It does move around during the day, but as I stand up from sitting, etc, I rearrange it so it is back to where it belongs. 🙂 I especially like belts that have a slight curve so it fits to my body better and doesn’t ride up or down as much.

  5. Love this look!  The pop of color makes the whole outfit 🙂  Any tips for using a belt without belt loops?  I’ve tried it once or twice and it seems like my belt always ends up too high or too low.  But most of my “work skirts” don’t have loops and I’d love to re-create this look!

  6. That is the biggest downside, not being able to share.  I always share great books with friends and now, not so much.

  7. Yes! I agree wholeheartedly about reading books with, y’know, real pages. I am not about that Kindle/Nook life. Not at all.

Meanwhile, great outfit! I’m a sucker for polka dots so, of course, I really like your blouse.

  8. Thanks for putting the plus size items together. I greatly appreciate it. You look so good today! Also, I enjoyed the pictures from your girl’s bday party. What an elaborate cake! I would have been wild over it at her age.

  9. I had seen the video, but I am very impressed with this look.  The light color of the skirt, the skewed polka dots and the touch of orange is just excellent.

  10. Thank you! And it is convenient for public transportation and travel, but nothing compares to an actual book 🙂 While I’m on a book kick… folks reading this… VISIT YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY! Support it! Let them know we love them and need them! 🙂

  11. I’ve never tried an e-reader and hopefully won’t (though I can see the appeal, as lugging 1200 pages of Infinite Jest on the bus was rather unpleasant!) I love the bright skinny belt and your lipstick is so bright and fun!

  12. I don’t have a Kindle but I have the app on my SmartPhone and I do love the convenience (especially when standing on the Metro). However, I have learned to only Kindle books I know ahead of time I won’t want to be part of my family. It’s so frustrating to not have the book to share with a friend or have on my nightstand to open at random places for inspiration. 🙂

  13. Love, love, love the polka dots and the bright orange splash of color with the belt.  Plus, the hair is looking so cute.

Regarding books, there is nothing like a real book.  I love dog earring my pages to mark my space and easily flipping through to read previous pages.  That being said, I do buy some “real” books, but I love my Kindle, mostly b/c it saves me from having a million books around the house, b/c of course I can’t get rid of one of them.  I’m a bit of a book hoarder.
