I hope you all have a very happy 4th of July! This year we specifically made no plans.  Life has been so hectic, we took advantage of this long weekend to do a bit of a staycation.  We took out the canoe for a day on the water and picnic, visited friends, grilled on the back deck, went to the farmers market and slept in every morning.  It's been so good to have the chance to recharge.

As for our 4th of July plans, out town has a lake walking distance from our house; every year we go down and enjoy the festivities and the fireworks at dusk.  At time of writing this it looks as though our plans will be rained out but our neighbor is having a cookout (or in depending on the weather) so any way you look at it, we'll be celebrating our country's independence with those in our community!  I plan to wear this look or a variation of it; if it's a cook-in I'll probably wear this exact outfit but if the weather stays clear I'll trade the jeans for denim shorts and the sneakers for my silver Birkenstocks so I can be cool and comfy at the lake and able to kick off my shoes, lie down and enjoy the fireworks spectacle with friends and family!

  1. I tried to accessorize with a red bandana like you did (I have a J Crew v-neck linen tee that is faint pink with navy stripes, and a cherry red bandana. I don’t think my neck is that much thicker than yours, so either my bandana is much smaller or I was doing something wrong. You have nice tails on yours. Mine were too skimpy, so I ditched it.

    1. Bandanas do seem to come in a variety of sizes; I have one that I can’t get tails on but this one I can. This one is also really old so it’s a bit stretched out and thin from wear. I’ve also purchased XL or “Texas” bandanas which are much bigger and can provide more styles; I’ve found them on eBay new and Amazon.

  2. I’m liking these off-shoulder tops on you! Do you wear them with a strapless bra or do you just push the straps down on a regular one?
